Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Overseas collaboration in the field of education is necessary' that was published in Newsband

Overseas collaboration in the field of education is necessary
Indian government should actively seek overseas collaboration in the arena of higher education. Our government should go for global partnership as far as Indian education is concerned. We should come up with universities which will have the capacity to attract students and faculty from across geographical boundaries. There should be a kind of cross-cultural and cosmopolitan spirit of intellectual and cultural exchange. To achieve this goal our government should come up with state-of-the-art infrastructure and improved overall connectivity.
The Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has repeatedly emphasised the need to promote the highest academic standards, as well as to ensure equity in the recruitment and admissions processes. These are worthy objectives that India’s public institutions generally, and those in the field of education in particular, must foster at every level. The 21st century is critical to the future of Asia, and India has a big role to play in the field of education.
Attracting foreign students to our universities will lead to international understanding. Considering the economic status of India today, there is no doubt about the fact that our country is capable of coming up with a globally recognized institutions which can be  on par with all other world class institutions with sophisticated infrastructure and good quality of insightful education.
It should also be ensured that the graduates who will pass out of such institutions will have no problem in getting meaningful employment. The Professors of these institutions should be of the highest calibre and the courses should be relevant for professionals seeking a wider understanding of the world in which they operate.

Emergence of such institutions will not only make every Indian feel proud but also these institutions will prove to be a souvenir to the culture, tradition and scholastic grandeur of the nation. Overseas collaboration is definitely welcome but it should not lead to the surrender of the soul and character of the ancient seat of learning. This goal can be achieved by preventing the sneaking in of any vested interest.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Modi displeases party seniors' that was published in Newsband

Modi displeases party seniors
Rise of Narendra Modi has led to internal dissensions in Bharatiya Janata Party. Modi seems to be asserting his authority within the BJP.
Modi can afford to act tough because of the enormous support he has got from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He is having his way even at the cost of injuring the self-respect of party seniors. L.K. Advani and Sushma Swaraj are two of his victims. Murli Manohar Joshi too is not happy at being evicted from the Varanasi seat to make way for Modi. Advani was refused a transfer to Bhopal and was asked to stick to Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat.
Looks like the only element which can pull down the BJP and Modi from Power is internal conflict within the party which seems to be full of clashes between egos.
Modi has no problems in facing the likes of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or Kejriwal but is wary of Advani and company with their constant show of belligerence within the party which is more dangerous then facing the opponents.
In the past, the elevation of Nehru and his daughter within Congress had seen many ugly spats and this had even led to a breakup of the party. Senior party leaders were most shabbily treated. The same kind of 'injury' to 'sterling' leaders caused by Modi's rise is happening in BJP now.

The Modi wave is basically a misnomer. There is no such wave in the country. On the contrary a tainted past engulfs BJP which is become a party fractured on minor issues; with a dark spot of Gujarat riots and symbol of inaction for the welfare of common people of this country, how can that party be entrusted with a national responsibility? Modi was the cause of riot in his state. There are many Indians who fear that his emergence as top man of the nation might lead to ‘National Riot’. These Indians cannot forget even the inaction of the BJP government when entire Gujarat was burning and the only rhetoric heard was "Raj Dharma".

New movie-releases in Navi Mumbai
By Dinesh Kamath
Samrat & Co.

Samrat & Co. is a 2014 Hindi detective thriller film directed by Kaushik Ghatak and produced by Kavita K. Barjatya under the Rajshri Productions banner. It features Rajeev Khandelwal in the title role of Samrat.
The film has an interesting plot. A young, beautiful and rich girl, Dimpy Singh (Madalsa Sharma), approaches Samrat Tilakdhari (Rajeev Khandelwal), a private investigator, with a strange case. Their garden got ruined for reasons that appear natural but are not known; leading horticulturists have examined the fading plants but they have not been able to identify the probable reason. Further, her father's favorite horse died; once again the reason for the pre-mature death remains a mystery. That's not the end; Dimpy’s father Mahendra Pratap Singh (Girish Karnad), otherwise a very strong and balanced man, has been experiencing deteriorating health. All these aspects when combined makes the case sound weird and that grabs the attention of Samrat.
Samrat along with his assistant friend, Chakradhar Pandey (Gopal Datt), visits the huge estate of Mahendra Pratap Singh. As he starts investigating, he discovers lots of mysterious facts. The story progresses when a murder takes place in the house, which leads to a series of events, complicating things for Samrat. Every character around seems to be hiding something. How will Samrat unfold the mysteries? Will there be more mysteries while he is investigating? Will the case be solved?
The film has Rajeev Khandelwal as Samrat Tilakdhari, Madalsa Sharma as Dimpy Singh, Gopal Datt as Chakradhar Pandey, Girish Karnad as Mahendra Pratap Singh, Priyanshu Chatterjee as Sanjay Singh, Sujata Sanghmitra as Sunita Singh, Shreya Narayan as Divya Singh, Indraneil Sengupta as Vijay Singh, Barkha Bisht as Revati Singh, Ravi Jhankal as Puran kaka, Puja Gupta as Shanti, Navin Prabhakar as Hari, Rajniesh Duggall as Deepak Khurana, Bhaumik Sampat as Inspector Khalid, Pradeep Welankar as DGP Arjun, Smita Jaykar as Narayani Dave, Deepak Shroff as Kishor Dave, Ramgopal Bajaj as Satyadev baba, Anurag Jha as Ghanshyam, Ajay Bhandari as Anuj, Gufi Paintal as Dinesh Das (DD) and Kabir Chopra as Vikramjeet.

Dishkiyaoon

Dishkiyaoon
Dishkiyaoon is a Bollywood action film produced by Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra along with Eros International. The film features Sunny Deol, Harman Baweja and debutant Ayesha Khanna. The film is about the Mumbai underworld. Four songs for the film have been composed by debutant Palash Muchhal, who's the youngest music composer of Bollywood at age of 18.
The film has an interesting plot. Born in the upper middle class society, Viki had no mother and his father had no time for him. The cold loneliness of Viki’s world left him weak and tainted from within. Absence of love and care pushed Viki to find acceptance in other places. One such place was just a road away from his plush apartment - The Gangster Land.
Viki finds love and acceptance, where bullets don’t warn before firing. Interpersonal relationships are complex, situations are twisted. Ambitions break free, as Viki sets his eyes on the top-spot of gangster-land. He backs himself to de-throne the existing King. Where people use might, Viki uses his mind. A game of dice begins. Each throw unfolds deception, double-cross, uncertainty, mystery and shock. It all comes down to one final throw of dice and Viki must roll a six to win.
The film has Sunny Deol as Lakwa, Harman Baweja as Viki Kartoos, Ayesha Khanna, Prashant Narayanan as Mota Tony, Aditya Pancholi, Rajit Kapur, Anand Tiwari and Shilpa Shetty in item song.
Dishkiyaoon's music is generally composed by Palash Muchhal. The lyrics of all soundtracks are penned by Sanamjit Singh Talwar.

O Teri

O Teri is a Hindi comedy film produced by Atul Agnihotri, featuring Pulkit Samrat, Bilal Amrohi, Sarah-Jane Dias, Sara Loren, and Mandira Bedi. The film stars Pulkit Samrat and newcomer Bilal Amrohi as two journalists, who come across a big scam. The music is composed by GJ Singh.
The film has Prayansh Sharma as Phantom/P.P., Katrina Kaif as Prayansh's Girlfriend, Sarah-Jane Dias as Sara Loren, Mandira Bedi, Vijay Raaz, Anupam Kher, Salman Khan – Cameo and Lulia Vantur – Cameo.
The movie O Teri is about two reporters in Delhi, Pulkit Samrat as Prantabh Pratab (P.P) and Bilal Amrohi as Anand Ishwaram Devdutt Subhramaniyam (A.I.D.S) and the corrupt system of the present world. The film is a satire comedy and a funny take on events seen from the eyes of these two intern journalists.
This is the story of how the exploits of an amorous buffalo led to the unearthing of the biggest scam this country has ever seen.
They say Fortune always favors the brave. Well, then they are obviously talking out of their hat. For it sometimes also accidentally shines on the hugely reticent and plain bumbling lucky.

Youngistan

Youngistaan is a Bollywood film directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal. It stars Jackky Bhagnani, Neha Sharma, Farooq Sheikh and Kayoze Irani in lead roles. The film is a love story set against the backdrop of Indian politics.
The film has an interesting plot. Youngistaan is essentially a love story set in the backdrop of Indian politics. It is the story of Abhimanyu Kaul – a young, independent, Games Developer, living in Japan with the love of his life, Anwita Chauhan – a bubbly, passionate and full of life, summer intern.
Their happy and content life faces the test of time, when blood ties and the pressure of being born into the first family of India tears a young Abhimanyu between his love for Anwita and a promise made to his dying father, the Prime Minister of India.
Being a public figure, by reluctantly accepting to represent the governing party, much against his own wishes and at the cost of his private life, is a double-edged sword that Abhimanyu must walk on. Much like the crests and troughs of any political survey, the film follows the highs and lows of Abhimanyu’s life – From a young boy, living an ordinary life in Japan, to the designate Prime Minister of the biggest democracy in the world. The film travels with Abhimanyu, as he becomes the Prime Minister of India and struggles to balance his personal relationship with Anwita on one hand and the political resistance against him from within his party, on the other.
Thought of as an amateur and incapable of handling the issues at large by one and all, (except the ever faithful Akbar Patel, Secretary to the P.M), the film closes as a victorious Abhimanyu changes the course of events and turns the tide his way, through his hard work, honestly, and above all, a political legacy – a sharp, leading mind that not everyone inherits!
The film has Jackky Bhagnani, Neha Sharma, Farooq Sheikh, Boman Irani, Kayoze Irani, Mita Vashisht, Hamid Shah, Shraddha Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan in a Cameo as Himself and Umair Alware.

Sabotage

Sabotage (previously known as Ten and Breacher) is an American action thriller/crime drama film, directed by David Ayer, written by Skip Woods and Ayer and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The film has an interesting plot. Members of an elite DEA task force find themselves being taken down one by one after they bust into a drug cartel safe house.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the leader of an elite DEA task force that takes on the world’s deadliest drug cartels in ‘Sabotage’.
After the team successfully raids a cartel safe house, they think their job is done – until their members mysteriously get executed one by one.
In the film, Arnold plays John “Breacher” Wharton and he and his team head down to Mexico to raid a cartel compound. Their goal - a massive stack of money, untold millions, in the huge collection of greenbacks. Almost immediately, we see them doing something suspect. Instead of taking the house and calling in their cohorts, they stall. They move to a connecting bathroom, lift off a toilet, and proceed to steal $10 million of the money for themselves. Both the higher ups in the agency and the drug racket finds out that there is money missing. The government puts the squeeze on Schwarzenegger and his team while a gang of hired assassins comes after them individually. One member is killed when his RV is purposefully stalled across some train tracks, another is pinned to his ceiling and disemboweled, while yet another is murdered in his rural survivalist cabin.
While Arnie and his new sidekick - an FBI agent played by Olivia Williams - try to decipher the clues as to what’s going on, bodies are piling up like cord wood. Everyone thinks that Breacher and his team are guilty, but they don’t have the cash. Somehow, it was stolen from them while they were stealing it. Eventually, we learn that Mireilles Enos’ character, a crack-addicted loose cannon who is married to Worthington, is killing her cohorts because she got cheated out of her cash - cash they didn’t have in the first place. Turns out, however, that it was Breacher who took all the loot, using it to settle a score from several months before. The cartel kidnapped his wife and son and murdered them. Our hero uses the $10 million to get the name of the man who did it, and, in a hail of bullets and fisticuffs, Breacher - alone - gets his vengeance.
Thus the movie narrates the story of a bunch of dirty DEA agents, a theft gone catawampus, and a mystery over who is killing Breacher’s team one by one.

The film has Arnold Schwarzenegger as John “Breacher” Wharton, the commander of an elite squad of DEA operatives, Sam Worthington as James "Monster" Murray, Olivia Williams as Investigator Caroline Brentwood, Mireille Enos as Lizzy Murray, Terrence Howard as Julius "Sugar" Edmonds, Joe Manganiello as Joe "Grinder" Phillips, Josh Holloway as Eddie "Neck" Jordan, Harold Perrineau as Jackson, Martin Donovan as Floyd Morgan, Max Martini as Tom "Pyro" Roberts, Gary Grubbs as Lou Cantrell and Ralf Moeller.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'BJP-Sena-MNS Triangle' that was published in Newsband

BJP-Sena-MNS Triangle
Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has chosen to support Narendra Modi for Prime Ministership. This decision was taken by Raj Thackeray after meeting former Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari.
Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena too support Modi. Raj Thakeray has decided not to field candidates in many of the seats where the BJP is in the fray. But he has released a list of candidates to contest against the Shiv Sena. Both the Sena and the MNS are targeting the Maratha-Hindu chauvinist sections of the vote base.
Can Gadkari and BJP win over both the Sena and the MNS? Whom will they support at places where Sena is pitted against the MNS? The battle between the Sena and the MNS will be of keen interest since whichever between the two wins will be considered as genuine Sena.
Raj Thackeray was looking for some political space at the national level and not just at the state level and Gadkari provided him what he wanted. Did Gadkari provide Raj Thackaray this opportunity due to his own rivalry within the BJP with some faction?
Any visible advantage to MNS in the national election results will be a huge trouble for BJP-Sena alliance during formation of BJP Government at the Centre and the forthcoming state election.
Previously Raj Thackeray's influence did not go beyond Mumbai-Nashik-Pune belt. But now BJP has provided him an opportunity to spread his influence not only all over the state but throughout the country too. It is clear that Raj Thackeray desperately wants to grab political centre-stage in Maharashtra. BJP has provided him the opportunity to make materialize his dream of dominating in Maharashtra.

The side effect of this sibling rivalry could be that there might be considerable reduction in regional chauvinism. Anyway, the BJP-Sena-MNS triangle is an interesting development and this will have an effect on the future politics in Maharashtra, if not in India.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Money earned respectably is Power' that was published in Newsband

Money earned respectably is Power
Many people do not know the power of money. Some say that money leads to power, and power corrupts absolutely. Thus, absolute power is absolutely corrupt. This could be a case of a lack of knowledge. The power of money is in fact one of the causes for happiness, respect, dignity, esteem, confidence and eventually love.
Many people refuse to respect the power of money. Their attitude towards money leads to sufferings.
Even the non-profit and other charitable organizations are really not out to help the citizens they claim to help. There are too many homeless and few shelters nationwide. If the non-profit and charitable organizations as well as the government were actually doing their job, then we would have seen more help for those who need it.
Presently there has been an up-tick in crime, due to the fact, that some homeless people are now committing crimes, so they can go to prison. Prisons are getting overcrowded. Sometimes the inmates need to be released due to overcrowding.
Frankly speaking, lack of respect for money is a problem. The underlying problem is a lack of knowledge and respect of money. It does not come down to greed. The fact that we all choose how we live our life and those who want money go after it, does not prove that they are greedy. It actually proves that they know something you do not.
Humanity is not civilized enough to live without money. Therefore, at this time in our development stage, we continue to dress money up and think things that some could only imagine or not.
Any money thrown at any problem can fix the problem, so long as it is properly used for what it is supposed to be used for in the first place.
Money is the solution for any problem, including love, but it is the people who must learn how to understand the power of money and the importance of respecting it also. Money is a requirement for all things we know. Every person needs to understand it, live by it and even breathe it.

You will not get love, because you have money, but you will receive love, because you are earning a living that is respectable, which gives other people the idea you are in control of your life and do not need to depend on them.

Dinesh Kamath's news 'Desperate attempts by police to prevent suicides at Vashi Creek' that was published in Newsband

Desperate attempts by police to prevent suicides at Vashi Creek
By Dinesh Kamath

(Above) Picture of Vashi Creek
NAVI MUMBAI: Just recently Vashi police had rescued two females who attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Vashi Creek. Such cases of committing or attempting suicide have occurred many times at Vashi Creek. This place is become a kind of ‘Suicide Spot’. The Navi Mumbai police are desperately trying to remove this tag of ‘Suicide Spot’ that is attached to Vashi Creek. They have also invited suggestions from the Navi Mumbai residents to prevent suicides from taking place at this creek. The police department of the city is also planning to put up at the right places banners asking people not to consider their lives as so cheap so as to give them up at this spot.
In the past, there were many incidents of suicide that had occurred at this spot. The psychologists in the city have come up with many reasons that lead a person to commit suicide. They have come up with explanation about what exactly gives birth to suicidal tendencies. As far as Vashi Creek is concerned, those with suicidal tendencies find this spot most convenient to end their lives since all tat they need to do is jump off the bridge. But what is a solution for these desperate individuals is a big problem for the police department.
Hence the city police have arranged a special boat service to keep a watch on this spot and to rush to the rescue of anybody whom they discover while attempting suicide. This way, the police feel, many lives can be saved. Small boats during low tide can prove to be useful to reach the person who has jumped off the bridge and save his or her life on time. Making use of speedboats would have been a good idea but it is not possible to operate a speedboat in this creek. The fishermen residing around the creek are asked to keep vigil and lend their boats during emergency. They are also promised payment for this service. There are many cases where people who have attempted suicides by going deep into the waters have been saved by fishermen. Fishermen feel at home in the waters and also they are very well informed about the area where they pursue their fishing business and hence they have no problem in rushing to the rescue of those people who choose waters to end their lives. If a boat is not available, these fishermen are able to rescue the persons attempting suicide by using wooden planks lying around to reach the person.
A resident of Vashi who resides near the creek said, “It is not enough to just save those people who attempt suicide here. Those saved from ending their lives should be given the necessary psychiatric department and they should be counseled by a competent psychologist. They should be made to understand the value of life and the ways to tackle problems that life offers them. Suicide, after all, is not a solution to any problem. It is an act of cowardice.”
The city police authorities have also planned to post policemen along the bridge to keep vigil and prevent suicide attempts. The police authorities are trying to come up with a plan which is absolutely fool-proof and which will at least minimize, if not totally eliminate, the number of suicide cases.
An elderly man from Vashi said, “It is not enough to just put up banners asking people not to commit suicides. The family of one with suicidal tendency should also be asked to remain alert and quickly detect such suicidal tendency and take necessary actions. Banners with life-inspiring slogans should be meant not just for the one with suicidal tendency but also for his or her family members.”

Thus Navi Mumbai police authorities deserve to be lauded for trying their level best to minimize cases of suicide at Vashi Creek. Even the fear of the fact that policemen are patrolling at this spot can prevent a person from attempting suicide at this spot. Thus it is a good move on the part of the city policemen to try and chalk out ways and means to stop people from committing suicide at this creek.
