Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'IS outfit is a big threat to non-Islamic countries' that was published in Newsband

IS outfit is a big threat to non-Islamic countries
There has been a meteoric rise of Islamic State into a state-like apparatus. The terror group has managed to retain control over territory it holds, through a mixture of brutality, fear and immense money power. It has managed to draw recruits from all over the world. There has been radicalisation of some alienated Muslims even in countries that promote multiculturalism.
The Union Home Ministry’s decision to formulate a coherent national strategy to take on IS and prevent Indians being recruited by it is commendable. The possibility of the ideological influence of groups such as IS coming to play in India is limited. Yet, there is the distinct possibility of IS targeting or influencing disaffected youth among the community.
The threat of IS in India has to be tackled by means of a security-oriented response, through coordination among police and intelligence agencies and by addressing in a just way the grievances of India’s largest minority community. The other important method to control IS in India is to stop so called minority into turning to majority. Control their population strictly. Why should they marry 4???
Now in the Kashmir valley after Friday prayers marching with ISIS and Pakistani flags is becoming a regular feature and is fast becoming a code for defying the Indian authority. At least now centre has woken up and realizes the need of a well coordinated nationwide policy to stem the anti national activities.
If someone claims to do as per the Holy Koran and is killing innocents, then what about other Muslims who have also read the same Koran and have followed the same religion but who don't believe in such things, aren't they following the same religion/teachings? Then why is that they are against such atrocities and brutalities?
IS is become a dangerous conundrum. This is the consequence of the cowardice on the part of liberal Muslims who fail to provide alternative discourse and the acceptance of the existence of other faiths to these fundamentalists. They are dead scared of standing upto the terror and fanaticism. Muslims cannot run away from their responsibilities and perpetually blame others, like West, India, America, for their narrow minded sectarianism.
The primary aim of this outfit is to establish an Islamic Caliphate followed by worldwide domination. The methods used for achieving their goals are by terrorizing the general populace. Many Muslims all over the world are opposed to these barbaric methods to achieve their goals. However, it must be emphasised that all Muslims whether Shia or Sunni consider the formation of the Caliphate and Worldwide Muslim domination as legitimate goals.

President Obama has now declared the Islamic State as America's greatest threat. It's time all non-Islamic countries looked at this new threat with greater urgency and understanding.

Dinesh Kamath’s column ‘New movies released in Navi Mumbai’ (Drishyam, Pixels, Vatican Tapes and Southpaw) that was published in Newsband

New movies released in Navi Mumbai
Drishyam

Drishyam (English: Visual/The Sight) is a 2015 Indian thriller drama film directed by Nishikant Kamat. It features Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Tabu in the lead roles, and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Abhishek Pathak. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, directed by Jeethu Joseph with Mohanlal and Meena in the lead.
Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) runs a cable TV network in a remote and hilly village of Goa. He lives a happy life with his wife Nandini and two daughters. A 4th grade dropout and an orphan, Vijay has worked his way towards success with his sheer hard-work and street smartness in order to provide for his family who mean the world to him. A man of few means and needs; Vijay believes life is to be lived simplistically - his wife, while she loves him devoutly, wants Vijay's thrifty and miserly behavior to end and wants the world for her family. If there's one thing that Vijay cannot live without, it is his passion for watching films. Such is his 'filmy' obsession that he doesn't mind staying up all night at his office binging on TV movies! In a bizarre turn of events; a teenage boy goes missing; he is the son of a headstrong and no-nonsense cop; IG Meera Deshmukh and the Salgaonkar family is the prime suspect! Will a humble and middle class man, be able to protect his family from oppression of the powerful? How the family weathers the storm that ensues during the violent investigation forms the rest of the story leading to an unexpected and shocking climax.
The film has Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, Shriya Saran as Nandhani Vijay Salgaonkar, Tabu as IG Meera Deshmukh, Rajat Kapoor as Meera's Husband, Ishita Dutta as Vijay's daughter and Prathamesh Parab.
The music for Drishyam is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj with lyrics written by Gulzar. The film has songs like         "Carbon Copy" sung by Ash King, "Dum Ghutta Hai" by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Rekha Bhardwaj, "Kab Kahan Se" by KK and "Kya Pataa" by Arijit Singh.

Pixels

Pixels is a 2015 American science fiction comedy film produced by Columbia Pictures, 1492 Pictures and Happy Madison Productions. The film is directed by Chris Columbus. Its screenplay is written by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, with a screen story penned by Tim Herlihy and based on French director Patrick Jean's 2010 short film of the same name. The film stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, Brian Cox, Ashley Benson, and Jane Krakowski. The film's plot has extraterrestrials misinterpreting video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, and invading Earth using technology inspired by games such as Pac-Man and Space Invaders. To counter the alien assault, the United States hires former arcade champions to lead the planet's defense.
When intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.

Vatican Tapes

The Vatican Tapes is a 2015 American supernatural horror film directed by Mark Neveldine from a screenplay written by Christopher Borrelli, which is in turn based on a story by Chris Morgan and Christopher Borrelli.
The film stars Kathleen Robertson, Michael Peña, Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, and John Patrick Amedori.
A priest (Michael Peña) and two Vatican exorcists (Kathleen Robertson and Djimon Hounsou) must do battle with an ancient satanic force to save the soul of a young woman (Olivia Taylor Dudley). It is a generic possession movie. In The Vatican Tapes, 20-something year-old Angela gets possessed by a demon, but it's not just any demon; it's the Anti-Christ himself. A priest and two Vatican exorcists team up to try to exorcise Angela before it wreaks havoc on humanity. The Vatican Tapes does get more interesting and has a couple of decent scares when Angela is in a mental hospital. Angela is discharged and sent back home. The ending is interesting as the movie ends in a rather dark and powerful way.

Southpaw

Southpaw is a 2015 American sports drama film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, and Rachel McAdams.

Billy Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal), the reigning Junior Middleweight Champion, seemingly has it all with an impressive career, a beautiful and loving wife (Rachel McAdams), an adorable daughter (Oona Laurence) and a lavish lifestyle. When tragedy strikes and his lifelong manager and friend (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) leaves him behind, Hope hits rock bottom and turns to an unlikely savior at a run-down local gym: Tick Willis (Forest Whitaker), a retired fighter and trainer to the city’s toughest amateur boxers. With his future riding on Tick’s guidance and tenacity, Billy enters the hardest battle of his life as he struggles with redemption and to win back the trust of those he loves.

NMMC comes up with a master plan to recover unpaid property tax
By Dinesh Kamath

Above: Picture of NMMC
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has found certain persons refraining from paying property tax. Hence the corporation is trying to wage a kind of war with these property tax defaulters to recover from them the pending tax amounts. They have come up with a plan which consists of choosing certain officials of NMMC, from the level of additional commissioner to lower official, to form a special squad. This squad will be trained to do all the recoveries of unpaid property tax.
There are some people who take loans from banks to purchase houses. Hence the bank has a record of such clients. These banks have also will be assigned the job to track down these clients and recover from them the unpaid taxes. The banks will also be given the power to seize their houses if they refused to pay the property tax totally.
It is found that three or four persons out of 10 do not pay tax regularly. Some have migrated to other places without paying the tax. But the civic body has found a way to track them down too and get them to pay the pending tax amount.

NMMC has sent this master plan to the state government. The ball is now in the court of the government and it is left to the state to decide whether to implement this plan or not.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Tit for tat policy should replace Gandhian principle' that was published in Newsband

Tit for tat policy should replace Gandhian principle
The terrorist attacked civilians and a police station in Gurdaspur district. After security was stepped up in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, militants operating from across the border appear to have been forced to take other routes close to Jammu to carry out assaults. These militants are making a mockery of India’s efforts to secure the border districts.
Research and Analysis Wing had sent a report last month to Union Home Ministry and PMO on “Khalistan liberation movement” finding support in various countries. But these attackers don’t appear to be Khalistani militants. Some did wonder whether the attack was an indication of any revival of terrorism in the State. Also, the attackers were reported to have shouted Islamist slogans.
The dastardly attack in Gurdaspur is a major setback to the confidence-building process initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during their meeting in Ufa earlier this month. The Pakistan Government did make a statement 'condemning' the terror act and that it was 'standing with India and the Indian people'. If Pakistan government is really concerned about security in India why doesn’t it seal its own borders and prevent the militants from going out and causing havoc in foreign countries.
There should be no more talks with Pakistan. India should suspend all diplomatic relationship with Pakistan till the cross border attacks stop. Pakistan should be made to realize that its diabolic acts will no longer help it. Security must be heightened in all vulnerable border towns, with electrical fencing wherever possible, with round the clock surveillance.
Pakistan does not practice what it preaches. On the one hand, it proposes talks and on the other hand it exports terrorism. It is a fact that Pakistan is a Terrorist State and it trains terrorists. Terrorism all over the world originates from Pakistan. It is high time that Pakistan be declared as a terrorist nation.
The Gurdaspur attack should be condemned by all peace loving people and nations. Most of the terrorist attacks on Indian soil are suspected to be supported by ISI Camp and Pakistan Army. But one fails to understand as to how there was intelligence failure/lapse on our part. Our Intelligence Agencies, with latest technologies & methodologies, should have got/intercepted the information of such an attack around 30Kms inside the border. This is like Kandahar, Kargil, etc., wherein the terrorists got more purchase/concessions from India Government. How could terrorist groups enter into India after great security, communication and technology – that is a major concern.
The Rogues of Pakistan have struck again, not in the J & K  region but in Punjab which had local terrorism decades back. Is our Intelligence so weak that we are not able to foresee such attacks and take preventive action? We cannot be preaching Gandhian non-violence but go for ‘tit for tat’ policy.

Dabangg 2 eventually emerged as a huge financial success with revenues of 2.5 billion (US$39 million) globally.
After year gap Khan's 1st release of 2014 was Jai Ho which he starred opposite Daisy Shah. After five consecutive blockbuster, his first film performed average at box office despite making over 100 crore in india. Akshay Kumar

His recent release was Anthony D Souza's Boss alongside Shiv Pandit and Aditi Rao Hydari. The movie received average to good reviews however turned out to be a failure at Box office grossing 54 crore nett domestically. Kumar came back strongly with Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. This action drama earned both critical and commercial success entering the 100 crore elite club and became the highest grosser of 2014. The film received critical acclaim and is Kumar's third film to gross over 1 billion (US$16 million) at the box office. Kumar has sung a song for his recent film Its Entertainment. Shahrukh Khan

In 2013, Khan starred in Rohit Shetty's action comedy Chennai Express for Red Chillies Entertainment, a film which earned mixed critical reviews and a fair amount of criticism for its perceived disparagement of South Indian culture, although the film included a tribute to Tamil cinema star Rajinikanth. The critic Khalid Mohamed thought that Khan overacted in the film and criticised him for "re-rendering every old trick in the acting book". Despite the criticism, the film broke many box office records for Hindi films in both India and abroad, surpassing 3 Idiots to briefly become the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time, with a gross of almost 4 billion (US$62 million) in worldwide ticket sales. In 2014, the actor was featured in Farah Khan's ensemble comedy Happy New Year, which co-starred Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani; his third collaboration with the director. He has signed on for director Rahul Dholakia's next film, entitled Raees, produced by Excel Entertainment and co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and has also committed to star with Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in Rohit Shetty's comedy-drama Dilwale.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'India should take help of UN to settle Indo-Pak dispute once and for all' that was published in Newsband

India should take help of UN to settle Indo-Pak dispute once and for all
The joint statement issued in Ufa after the meeting between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif was violated when accusations, recriminations, and even shooting across the Line of Control began. This time, India has accused Pakistan of infiltration attempts in the Jammu sector, while Pakistan has complained that India sent in a drone and also started firing across the border. The cross-border incidents in themselves represent a major issue bilaterally. Hundreds of such incidents have occurred since both countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 2003, which are clearly violative of it. Even if India and Pakistan strengthen the 2003 agreement by negotiating a new and more robust ceasefire agreement, it will be of no use.
The recent ceasefire violation by Pakistan is yet another reminder that nothing is in the hands of civil government in Pakistan when it comes to Indo-Pak relationship. India should rise up to the occasion and see beyond this wall put by Pakistan army since we can’t afford to lose the lives of our priceless soldiers and innocent civilians. Dialogue is indeed the only solution but Pak army tries to nip it in the bud.
As far as the opposition is concerned, since the political strategy involves the security and territorial integrity of the nation, the opposition should approach the matter in a bipartisan manner, as our government's efforts, without mixing up with ideological differences that might exist among the parties, in the larger national interest and strengthen the political strategy by positive contributions instead of the familiar fault finding attitude.
If we look at history of 68 years, Pakistan is ruled by military. Democratic governments are puppet of army. Any agreement which sidelines army will not succeed. Having been defeated by India in the past, they behave like those with EGO hurt and wanting to humiliate India in war which is impossible. So only way is terrorising by frequent attacks. Unless and until civilian government has high hands above Pak army, forget any peace with them. Policy of using fraud and violence was always Pak’s twin pillars to achieve its goals. It has been able to follow this because the UK (first), the US (next) and China (the latest) decided to support that country for their own geostrategic reasons. Thus, the Pakistani Army vetoes civilian decisions.
The cross-border jihad has been existing since 1947. Since Independence, it has been Pakistan's policy to infiltrate saboteurs and terrorists from its dozens of terror camps, across the LoC & IB under its Army's protecting fire. Why should Indian defensive action be equated with Pakistani offence? It seems that Pakistan does not want good relations with India. It only remains for India to retaliate with matching or superior force every time there is aggression by Pakistan. But there is a limit to Indian patience.
Indians and Paksistanis are ethnically same. The problem is in Leadership. While India is a total Democracy with a single "Power center", in spite of various constraints and corruption, Pakistan has Four Power centers, each working independently, and when it comes to matters relating to India, a sort of uniformity seems to occur in all the Four Power centers. The Indian Army and other Security forces are strictly controlled by the Central Government/Parliament/President; so also the base administration systems are controlled by the various State Governments, in unison with Central Government. But in Pakistan the Army, ISI, Mullahs interfere and create confusion. Any discussion between India/Pakistan has to consider these base facts for positive results.

The last resort is to appeal to the United Nations to settle Indo-Pak dispute once and for all. That is the ultimate solution!
