Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Will Virat Kohli beat Sachin Tendulkar’s record?' that was published in Newsband

Will Virat Kohli beat Sachin Tendulkar’s record?
The 2016 season undoubtedly belonged to skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli showed his mastery over all formats of cricket by rewriting the record books. No other cricketer other than Virat Kohli since Sachin Tendulkar has left such a firm imprint on a limited-overs contest. In this year’s IPL, Kohli was in the zone, his bat a mere extension of his arm, pulling out shots at will that no fielding team could anticipate or limit. Kohli held centre stage, ahead of Chris Gayle and A.B. de Villiers.
Throughout the tournament Kohli gained tempo, shepherded his team, destroyed bowlers with huge sixes and was always alert to the little gaps in the field through which he threaded boundaries. His four centuries came double-fast.
Undoubtedly the star performer of IPL 2016, Kohli and his men should have lifted the cup this time for their extravaganza throughout the season. His batting in 2016 has been surreal. It’s true that he has been little unlucky this time but he won our hearts instead.
Salute to Kohli for his cricketing prowess. He has set such tall benchmarks in the batting that the IPL editions in the future are bound to be more and more interesting - and hence, more entertaining - as the batsmen would compete to reach those standards and try to even excel them. Perhaps, cricket lovers and players would be indebted to Kohli for this, for many years to come.
We should wait and see and what he does in other formats but with this form he could beat more records including that of Sachin
Virat Kohli deserves to be the captain in all three formats. He is a special blend of consistency, power and presence of mind. It is time for Indian cricket selectors to start thinking. India has no major event in three years till 2019 World Cup. This is the best chance to think and build.

Virat Kohli has rightly been named as T20 Player of the Year. A time has come where you have someone you have groomed over a period of time, who is ready. In the next 18 months, India hardly plays any ODIs, the gaps between Tests and ODIs are massive. So it’s time to look ahead.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'India’s policy to have cordial relations with West Asia is great' that was published in Newsband

India’s policy to have cordial relations with West Asia is great
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Iran makes one certain that the Centre is keen on taking ties with this “extended neighbour” to a higher level.  Over the last few months, Iran hosted several high-profile visitors, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Three senior Ministers of the Modi government, including External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, have travelled to Tehran in the past few months
Mr. Modi’s trip is expected to bridge the trust deficit in bilateral cooperation and boost energy and trade ties while expediting India’s connectivity plans. Strong ties with Iran are vital for India. The key factor is energy. Also globally, New Delhi and Tehran are on the same page in their opposition towards groups like al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.
Iran also seems keen on pursuing stronger ties with India. The Iran visit comes after his trips to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia and ahead of visits to Qatar and Israel. Israel remains one of India’s top defence and technology suppliers.
With increase in India’s population, India’s energy demand will be more and more in future and Modi government’s steps to engage with Middle East is a good decisions if you view from energy angle. People of Iran are very open minded and follow a modern form of their religion similar to Hindus in India.
Modi has to do a balancing act to maintain the cordial relations with West Asian countries, specially, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Modi's visit to Iran has given a unique opportunity for India to enhance its economic and strategic interests in West Asia.
Actually India's foreign policy is gaining balance during last 15 years. Earlier it was based on illogical principles at the cost of India's interests. Now India's interests and requirements are in the forefront of foreign policy, as it should be.
Since the US relations with Iran improved, the Saudis have also opened up and India is trying to establish effective bondage with Iran. India believes in policy of acting against Terror and against hegemony, and is now moving closer to USA. It is high time Indian leadership becomes bold and independent, and stopped forming a different AXIS with Iran, Russia, and other interested nations. Today the International political situation is such that we could be thrown out of the development circuit, if not aligned with the West. Our gain will be loss to the Chinese, who are trying to forge ahead.

India is in a unique position not only to improve relations with Iran but also improve relations between Iran and Israel. Both India and Iran desperately need the Israel technology to grow food arid areas. If Modi can pull it off, then it would be a diplomatic coup.

Dinesh Kamath’s column ‘New movies released in Navi Mumbai’ (Veerappan, Phobia, Waiting, Fredrick, Alice Through the Looking Glass and The Angry Birds Movie) that was published in Newsband

New movies released in Navi Mumbai
By Dinesh Kamath
Veerappan

Veerappan (None Like Him Ever Existed) is an Indian biographical film written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma, based on the life of Indian bandit Veerappan, and the events leading to Operation Cocoon to capture and kill Veerappan. The film stars Sandeep Bharadwaj, Sachiin J Joshi, Usha Jadhav, and Lisa Ray in pivotal roles. The film is heavily based on Ram Gopal Varma's Kannada docudrama super-hit Killing Veerappan.
The movie has an interesting plot. Koose Muniswamy Veerappan during his teenage starts working as an assistant to his relative Sevi Gounder, a notorious poacher and sandalwood smuggler. His father and relatives, whose village lay in the forest area, were also known to be poachers and smugglers. Veerappan (Sandeep Bharadwaj), dominant in Sathyamangalam Forest in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, defies the governments, and Indian Border security paramilitary forces, and maintain a small army. He is wanted for killing approximately 184 people, about half of whom were police officers, including senior police and forest officials. He was also wanted for poaching about 200 elephants and smuggling ivory worth US$2,600,000 and about 10,000 tonnes of sandalwood worth approximately US$22,000,000.
In 1991, Veerappan and his chief Intel Gandhi, behead IFS Officer P. Srinivas. Years later, Veerappan avenges the death of his close associate Gandhi by misleading Special Task Force (STF) personnel in their covert operation, through Gandhi's unnamed notorious informer. The covet mission led by T. Harikrishna S.P., and his informer S.I. Shakeel Ahmed to kill Veerappan fails miserably. Veerappan, and his army brutally assassinate all the STF officers in the operation, and snatch their arms.
The Tamil Nadu STF chief K. Vijay Kumar I.P.S. appoints his associate, an undercover I.P.S. spy in the Karnataka region, a master-strategist (Sachiin J Joshi), who puts in place the Operation Cocoon through a network of tribals, and informers, such as Deputy spy, a woman STF spy and land lord (Lisa Ray), who befriends and rents out house to Muthulakshmi-the wife of Veerappan (Usha Jadhav). On the other hand, a team of loyal undercover cops led by Rambo Krishna, leave Palar base of STF, near M. M. Hills, 100 kilometres (62 mi) from Kollegal of Karnataka along with a team of 41 members which includes police from two states, forest officials, forest watchers and informers. The team travels in two vehicles, of which one is a bus carrying most of the team members, and a jeep carrying K.Goplakrishnan, the IPS officer. Veerappan gang plants landmines on the road in more than 14 places to halt their approach, and during the Palar blast, K.Gopalakrishnan, standing on the foot board of the jeep is thrown out, and suffer severe injuries, leaving the police to retaliate and ultimately prevent the snatching of arms.
After few failed attempts, including the one led by another undercover cop, disguised as a subordinate to Islamic underworld Don-Kadaani, to negotiate arms deal with Veerappan's gang, the STF team led by master-strategist, and an ex-spy turned timberyard owner-Kumar, finally succeed on 18 October 2004. On that day, Veerappan is escorted out of the forest by Kumar who earlier infiltrates Veerappan's gang in disguise to negotiate another arms deal with Velupillai Prabhakaran. Subsequently, Veerappan and his men board an ambulance stationed at Papparapatti village in Dharmapuri district, Veerappan and his men are first warned and then asked to surrender, which was denied, and the men start firing at the STF personnel. The STF retaliate by firing grenades and gun fire, subsequently Veerappan and his men are killed on the spot.
The film has Sandeep Bharadwaj as Veerappan, Usha Jadhav as Muthulaksmi, Sachiin J Joshi as Police Officer (Spy) based on N. K. Senthamarai Kannan, Lisa Ray as Priya (Spy), Akash Chawariya as Bhola Daku (Veerappan's Right Hand) and Zarine Khan as new khallas item girl

Waiting

Waiting is a 2015 Indian comedy drama film directed by Anu Menon, and produced by Priti Gupta and Manish Mundra under the banner of Ishka Films and Drishyam Films. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles, with Rajat Kapoor, Suhasini Maniratnam and Arjun Mathur playing supporting roles.
The film is about the special relationship between two people from different walks of life, who befriend each other in a hospital, while nursing their respective comatose spouses. The story of the film divulges into the themes of coping with grief and at the same time discovering hope. It was meant to be a representative of urban India and its ethos.
Tara (Kalki Koechlin) is a fiercely independent woman whose life turns upside down after her husband Rajat (Arjun Mathur) meets with an accident. At the hospital, she meets Shiv, an elderly man whose wife of 40 years has been in the coma for eight months. The two strike an unlikely friendship that helps them cope with their grief. It is a warm tale about love, loss and surviving life's catastrophic blows, with such simplicity. Lead characters - Shiv and Tara - have nothing in common. Menon plays on their generation gap to offer some genuine smiles. He can't utter the 'F' word. She is brash but awkwardly loving. His coping device is faith; hers is shopping. And yet, the two bond over the vital stats of their spouses.
Tara is a realist, whose first question to the doctor is - 'Will my husband die?' Shiv lives in the hope that his wife will wake up and ask for her favourite Thalassery biryani. The film describes the different stages of sorrow without letting melodrama seep in. Tara holds on to Shiv's pearls of wisdom (some taught by experience and others picked up from medical journals), to make the cumbersome journey from denial to acceptance. The film poses some thought-provoking queries.
The film has Naseeruddin Shah as Shiv Kumar, Kalki Koechlin as Tara Deshpande, Arjun Mathur as Rajat Deshpande, Rajat Kapoor, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rajeev Ravindranathan as Girish and Marin Babu as Nurse Prema

Fredrick

Fredrick is a 2016 psychological thriller that was directed by Rajesh Butalia, based on a story, screenplay and dialogue written by Rajesh Butalia starring Prashant Narayanan ,Tulna, Avinash Dhyani.
The story begins with a 16 year old boy, who seems just like all other guys, except than that his bonding was unusual with another boy of his age. This bonding was highly objectionable to his father and he has reacted violent on that another guy. One fateful day few unfortunate events has taken place. Which created the platform for the story to grow further. The story takes a surprising and an unimaginable turn when Vikram realizes that whatever clue they finds during their search, they are all linked with Fredrick, every second they finds something shocking. The biggest question for them is that who is this Fredrick? Where is he? If Fredrick wanted to have him killed, he could have done so easily. Then what's stopping him? All the puzzles and mysteries are running parallel and when Vikram comes to know that actually Fredrick is not trying to kill him, he gets even more confused. One day he finally comes face to face with Fredrick, who himself has come forth as a larger unimaginable riddle. Amidst all these mysteries and revelations this interesting tale finally reaches a painful end. The film try to bring light upon untouchable issue in our society.
The film has Avinash Dhyani, Tulna, Prashant Narayanan and Anna Ador

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Alice Through the Looking Glass is a 2016 American fantasy adventure film directed by James Bobin, written by Linda Woolverton and produced by Tim Burton. The film stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen and features the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall.
The film has an interesting plot. Alice Kingsleigh has spent the past three years following in her father's footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London from China, she comes across a difficult decision that may determine what she's going to do during the rest of her life. After re-encountering Absolem, she finds a magical looking glass and returns to the nonsensical realm of Wonderland.
Alice discovers that things are going very wrong with the Hatter, who is now acting madder than usual, haunted by past events that he refuses to reveal. In order to prevent a heartbreaking end to her friend, she turns to Time himself. Despite his warnings about Alice not being able to win a race against time, and not being able to change the past, she borrows the Chronosphere, a time device that everyone (including the now banished Red Queen) wants, and winds up returning to the past.
As Alice witnesses the hits and misses of friends (and enemies) during their lives, discovering how it prompted them to their current states in the present, she may learn how to solve not only the problem with the Hatter, but her own back in London – but only if she can win the race against the ticking Chronosphere.

The Angry Birds Movie

The Angry Birds Movie (or simply Angry Birds)[5] is a 2016 3D computer-animated action-adventure comedy film based on the video game series of the same name. It was directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly (in their directorial debuts), produced by John Cohen and Catherine Winder, and written by Jon Vitti. The film was animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks, and stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Sean Penn, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage.
The film has an interesting plot. At Bird Island, an island inhabited by flightless birds, reclusive, grumpy clown Red is sentenced to anger management class after his temper costs him a customer. One day, a boat docks at Bird Island, carrying pigs from Piggy Island led by Leonard. Claiming to be a peaceful explorer and bringing offerings of friendship, the pigs are accepted on the island. More pigs begin to flock to Bird Island without hesitation from the birds.
Eventually, the pigs adjust to society, but Red becomes suspicious of their motives. He recruits his classmates Chuck and Bomb to help him find Mighty Eagle, a giant eagle said to be the protector of the island, and the only bird that can fly. They find him on top of Bird Mountain, but the lazy Mighty Eagle is revealed to be retired and hasn't flown in years. Later, Red's group sees the pigs planting explosives around the island and realizes they are stealing the birds' eggs. Red and Bomb attempt to retrieve the eggs, but the pigs escape and their explosives destroy the village. When the birds realize what happened, Red rallies them to let their anger loose.
The birds construct a boat and sail to Piggy Island, where they find the pigs living in a walled city. Deducing the eggs are most likely in the central castle of the city, the birds attack the pigs by slinging birds at them using a giant slingshot. Red, Chuck, and Bomb make it to the castle and find the eggs in a boiler room to be cooked and eaten by the pigs. Mighty Eagle arrives, having had a change of heart, and carries the eggs out. As the birds escape, an egg falls out and makes its way back into the castle. Red returns the castle, retrieves the egg, and survives Piggy Island's destruction, caused by the pigs' reserve of explosives.

After the explosion, Red is hailed as a hero. He, Chuck, and Bomb are approached by Mighty Eagle, who claims that he wasn't really lazy and made them lose faith in him to teach them to find faith in themselves. In a mid-credits sequence, it is revealed that all of the pigs have survived Piggy Island's destruction, while Leonard is hatching a new plan to steal the eggs.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'India needs a Leader with Imagination, Vision and Mission' that was published in Newsband

India needs a Leader with Imagination, Vision and Mission
We had five Assembly elections, and five different winners. The Congress won the Union Territory of Puducherry, Bharatiya Janata Party won in Assam, Left Democratic Front led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu.
The BJP will not be displeased with the success of the Trinamool Congress and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Both victors have better relations with the BJP than with the Congress. In Kerala, the BJP made its debut by winning its first seat. So the BJP is the clear winner in this round of Assembly elections. It is very clear that the BJP is better placed in direct face-offs against a diminishing Congress but there are parts of India where its presence is either marginal or very slight which is a dangerous sign for a party looking to retain power in 2019. Will BJP repeat its stunning 2014 sweep of the Hindi heartland in 2019?
The important thing is that while BJP may have replaced Congress as the largest national party in terms of both seats and votes, regional parties and others (not in the BJP or Congress camps) retain a majority of the political space in India. There is every sign that, in 2019, BJP will trounce the GOPI (grand old party of India), or the dynastic family whose ‘toy thing’ Congress looks to be.
One thing is clear and that voters have very little choice, and they use their franchise the best way they can, forced to choose the least ‘worst’. But if Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party continue to be serious about driving away corruption from the soil of India then the voters of India for the first time will have an ideal choice. The BJP has exaggerated its performance. Unless the party concentrates on the economic reforms programmes and disciplines its fringe elements it will be very difficult to pass the 2017 test in assembly elections in states like Gujarat, Punjab etc. The party has to work hard to win in these states. It should refrain itself from Congress bashing and better concentrate on governance.

India, today, is a burgeoning and progressive Democracy, where the common people have understood the meaning of Democracy, and seem to be improving in their voting imagination. But then, within the constraints of a combination of leaderless political parties and un-imaginative leadership styles of various other parties (both so-called National and regional), their choice of selection is very limited and difficult. The cacophony, extravaganza of electioneering and illegal methods of cajoling etc notwithstanding, the brain-power of the Electorate has been shown to be far superior to the people who form the Political dispensation. India now needs people with Imagination/ Vision/ Mission to lead the People to reach better levels of Socio-Economic and Environmental developments that help in creating a better civilization of INDIA. Otherwise, the confidence of the people in India's democracy would be in jeopardy.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Another great job by ISRO scientists' that was published in Newsband

Another great job by ISRO scientists
The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully launched the seventh and final navigation satellite, IRNSS-1G. Now India has an independent regional navigation satellite capability that covers the entire country and an area extending about 1,500 sq. km beyond its border.
The United States’ Global Positioning System has a constellation of at least 24 operational satellites and a network of ground stations across the world to provide coverage globally. Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite System too is global in coverage. China intends to expand the system for global coverage by 2020 and the European Satellite Navigation System by 2019-2020. Japan too is establishing its own global system.
It is undoubtedly a commendable job done by Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO makes us feel proud to be Indian It is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to ISRO scientists. Let's hope that IRNSS too becomes global in near future.
Among all the public sector institutions, only ISRO has produced the cutting edge technology that can compete with best in the world. Now with the success of IRNSS, i.e. Indian GPS, it has again added a new feather to it.
Global communication technology is fast improving and the launch of the satellite is a step forward in this direction. This must be made available for all industrial purposes so that trade and commerce improves rapidly among the countries in the world.
We have improved our positional accuracy which is key point as far as our strategic use for military use is concerned. The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System constellation (IRNSS) has now achieved the First step of catapulting seven navigational satellite systems that would pave the way for India's own navigation and global positioning arrangements.

There is scope for improvement to make more secure the border areas along northeast and northwest frontiers. The know-how is evolving, but there is a long way to go. Self-reliance in such sensitive areas of technology is important, and there is an urgent need to address weakness to compete globally especially vis-a-vis China.

Tributes paid to Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj
Nirankaris hail Mata Sawinder Ji as his successor
Devotees from Mumbai & Maharashtra return after a tearful adieu
By Dinesh Kamath

It was a rare divine coincidence. While the Nirankari world bid farewell to their beloved Spiritual Master Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and paid glorious tributes to his splendid service to humanity, simultaneously they hailed with equal trust and faith his successor Satguru Mata Sawinder Ji at a special congregation in Delhi on 18th May 2016.
Lakhs of devotees of the Mission from across the country and several other parts of the world participated in the funeral procession and then in the congregation. The congregation was attended by several dignitaries and representatives of social, religious and political organizations. Many condolence messages were received from India and abroad which showed the indelible impression Baba Hardev Singh JiMaharaj has left on the people of every walk of life across the world.

Thousands of devotees from Mumbai & Maharashtra, who had reached Delhi on hearing the dreaded news by adopting whichever mode of transport they could locate within their means be it the road, rail or by air, to catch the last glimpse of their beloved Nirankari Baba and pay respects to Him, have returned back to once again get into the act of continuing the work ordained by HIM, now under the guidance and blessings of Satguru Mata Sawinder ji, the successor.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Election Commission should make election a fair deal' that was published in Newsband

Election Commission should make election a fair deal
There are political parties in India which ahead of any election are intent on overcoming the trust deficit by offering voters everything from free power and subsidised scooters to unlimited wi-fi and interest-free loans. They even got to the extent of handing out colour television sets to all, and proceed to deliver on it after being voted to power. Freebies have been an integral part of the manifestos of all parties in serious contention for power in some States. One particular party promised fans, mixers and grinders, and promptly gave them away over the next five years. There was another party which introduced the noon-meal scheme in schools, which increased enrolment and reduced dropout rates. Still another party gave away free bicycles to schoolgirls, which again slowed down the alarming dropout rate among girls in schools in rural areas. The free laptop scheme, free rice etc are promised by politicians just to win elections.
Nothing comes free - once it is realized by voters they would understand the strategy of political parties. Enticing common man to get their support is no doubt the strategy that is implemented in a very systematic manner just before the election procedure sets in but it should be strictly forbidden. Election commission should look into it and thus make the election a fair deal.
The amount politicians invest during elections is sponsored by affluent people who in turn expect favour once the party rises to power. Instead of freebies, the government should provide them with free quality education, health care, ensuring well oiled system of mobility, good drinking water, reclamation of extinct water bodies with removal of illicit encroachment, cluster free network of drainage system, revamping agricultural sector, and a robust industrial growth. It is appropriate to quote the popular Chinese saying, “do not feed the people with free fish, but teach them how to fish”.
The electorate needs to show more maturity and check to it that whether too much of populism is hampering the development in education, health care and infrastructure. All this "dole-out" policy looks very attractive but it should not be a deterrent in the State development. People shouldn't depend on freebie in any part of country. They should ask government or political parties to create job opportunities.
Free drinks, free water, free electricity what not has been done to influence the voters but at whose cost? Just everything free is going to cost the voters in the long run. Parliament must enact a law as soon as possible banning these kinds of promises by the political parties during election time. They are playing with nation's economy for their selfish ends. More freebies leads to more poverty which again leads to more freebies.

We don't have strong leaders with leadership skills to implement pro-entrepreneurship policies and programs. All the governments have done since Independence is treat people like babies who don't know how to feed themselves. There exists several essential services that are necessary. Whichever service can be privatized should be done so as soon as possible. All reasonable people in power should rethink this socialism and implement free market policies. Freebies can be accepted for the health, food, shelter and education of the poor who cannot afford it. The freebie like scooter, TV is just the waste of tax payers’ money. In foreign countries this is called white corruption.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'How long will India be kept out of NSG?' that was published in Newsband

How long will India be kept out of NSG?
China has announced that it intends to oppose India’s membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group unless it agrees to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Several major countries including the U.S., Russia, Germany, the U.K. and Australia have openly backed the bid, despite the fact that India is not a signatory to the NPT, widely considered to be a key criterion for NSG membership. Clearly, China’s stand is a combination of its fraught relations with India as well as its desire that its “all-weather friend” Pakistan not be disadvantaged in the process.
However, this is not the end of the road for India’s NSG ambitions. China has been an adamant neighbour to India and its expansionary mind set is not new to the world. China is rising as an axial power in the modern world and it is using Pakistan only as an easy bet against India. Members must understand this and pose India as the opposite power pivot. We must show aggressive stance to bypass the nation. Only diplomatic showdown will be just futile as it has been. India must form dependable alliance with countries like European nations and US to sideline China. This would need business tie ups and also may be limiting trade relations with the nation and replace others with same import or export. If China is trying to be an open obstacle, let India build the great wall to keep this ill willed country at bay.
China has struck blow at the opportune moment by objecting India to the membership. It has been waiting in the wings observing USA coming closer to India and flexing its muscles. The Chinese position is a combination of its 'fraught' relation with us as well as its desire to protect the interests of its 'taller than the tallest mountain' friend, Pakistan. China has been ‘civilizationally’ convinced that India is its real competitor. China has displayed all the characteristics that Sardar Patel warned Nehru of in a prescient letter in November 1950, which of course Nehru ignored, all of which have come true since then. Pakistan or not, the Chinese behaviour would have been the same. Pakistan simply comes as its handy tool.

China’s opposition has a pattern. It opposed us getting membership in ASEAN, RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), East Asia Summit (EAS) etc. On the other hand, India was in the forefront for China’s UN Membership including by refusing the UNSC seat when it was offered to us since China was excluded! Today, China is the only P-5 country that opposes our membership in UNSC. It condones terrorism against us by ‘protecting’ Pakistani terrorists. We have always paid a price due to our naivety. After the waiver, NSG is a natural next step. A country like us cannot be kept out for too long.

In Bharat, to take care of interests of the majority is a rarity, say Mr. Arvind Pansare and Dr Uday Dhuri, spokesmen of HJS, Navi Mumbai
By Dinesh Kamath

Above: Mr. Arvind Pansare, Spokesman of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Panvel, Navi Mumbai

Above: Dr Uday Dhuri, Spokesman of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Panvel, Navi Mumbai
NAVI MUMBAI: Mr Arvind Pansare and Dr Uday Dhuri, spokespersons of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, located at Panvel, Navi Mumbai spoke about the Fifth All India Hindu Conventiion to be held at Ramnathi, Goa from 19th to 25th June 2016. They spoke about the reasons why the Convention has been organized and the condition of Hindus in their own country. Here are some excerpts:
“Proclamation of 'Hindu Nation' and a national platform of Hindu organisations
'Hindu Nation'! A concrete reality as envisaged by Swatantryaveer Savarkar became a forgotten word after attaining Independence. After Independence, Bharat which was a Svayambhu (Self-materialised) Hindu Nation became a secular nation. As a result, although there are 157 Christian nations, 52 Muslim nations, 12 Buddhist nations and a Jew nation, but not a single nation for Hindus in the world. Therefore, 'All India Hindu Convention' was being organised in Goa for last 4 years with a pious intention that Bharat, claiming and preserving inheritance of Hindu culture and Sanatan Dharma be declared as the 'Hindu Nation'. Delegates from small and big organisations and sects active in every State of Bharat remain present in the Convention. The Fifth All India Hindu Convention will be held at Ramnathi, Goa from 19th to 25th June 2016.
Hindu Convention is uniting Hindu organisations, sects and institutions from the nation and overseas. Hindu Convention is proving to be guidance for Hindu organisations.
The Output of Conventions are as follows:
Inspiration is provided by the Convention to Hindu organisations in uniting for launching agitations on a common platform for a common issue on a single day throughout the nation.
It is a movement to protect religious traditions commenced by Ranaragini branch of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on an auspicious day of Gudhipadwa.
Miss Pratiksha Korgaonkar, Organiser of Ranragini for Maharashtra received 'Bhagini' award.
Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, which began its activities from the All India Hindu Convention for protecting Hindu Dharma and Hindus has proved to be a pillar of support for all Hindu organisations.
Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad exposed many scams
The Conventions initiated 'India against Islamic State', a public movement against terrorism
Fifth All India Hindu Convention will witness participation of Hindus
Point to note: All over the world, seminars are held by the minorities. It is a matter of deliberation that a Convention of the majority has to be organised in Bharat. Most of the nations in the world, while giving priority to the interests of the majority, take care to ensure that no injustice is done to the minorities, by remaining in a particular framework. However, in Bharat, to take care of interests of the majority is a rarity, on the contrary, justice is denied to and sometimes, even atrocities are committed on the majority in the name of serving the interests of the minorities. Political ends are achieved by dividing the majority. Therefore, Convention has to be organised in the interest of Hindus. Devout Hindu organisations and sects, representing the majority Hindus have to get active to protect Hindus. This Convention is meant only for such organisations and sects. This Convention is also important for common Hindus because their problems and outbreak of their feelings will find a given due attention in this Convention. Moreover, the Convention is also committed to carry out permanent solutions to these problems.
To summarise, All India Hindu Convention is not merely a Yadnya for the establishment of the 'Hindu Nation', but a platform for interactions about the interests of Hindus. A series of these Conventions will definitely give a new turn to the future history.”

So the above were some of the excerpts passed by the spokespersons of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti located at Panvel, Navi Mumbai.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Medicines should be made affordable to common man' that was published in Newsband

Medicines should be made affordable to common man
Indian doctors should prescribe generic medicines in place of costly, branded ones. There is need to move to low-cost generic medicines on a large scale. The poor are impoverished further by drug costs. It is vital, therefore, that governments make listed essential medicines available free or nearly free to all in hospitals through higher public spending, widening access to generics through Jan Aushadhi outlets, and closely monitoring professional practice to eliminate prescription of irrational, non-essential drugs that have no curative effect.
Indian pharmaceutical manufacturing did in the past face censure over quality. For example, Ranbaxy had pleaded guilty to felony charges in the U.S. three years ago for adulteration of its products and failure to meet standard manufacturing practices. This highlights the need for close regulatory oversight. All Indian manufacturers — public and private — should meet the internationally recognised Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
At the same time, the lone solution available in front of the common man is to take all possible efforts to remain fit thereby keep the doctor away - it could be by food control, moderate exercise on a daily basis. Both these will not cost much to anyone.
The cost of medicines is the most critical component of health expenditure in India. There is a lot of people who do not take treatment due to financial problems. Any measure to reduce the cost of medicines will facilitate many more people accessing healthcare services. In this respect, one measure could be shift to generic drugs - doctors should prescribe in generic name and chemists should dispense generic drugs if there is a generic prescription. It has been reported that government is in the process of introducing a new law which will require doctors to prescribe in generic names and people can buy generic drugs from Jan Aushadhi stores.
The nexus between the Corporate hospitals, pharmacies, doctors and specifically the Drug companies seem to take the patients for granted and the medicines are so expensive that they become costly and unaffordable. Even If the Government subsidizes a few medicines for BP and diabetes and Heart ailments the doctors seem to be prescribing costly medicines to the patients although the medicines have the same potency.
There is need to give the best high quality Medicines at reasonable cost to the patients. There is possibility of bribe and kick bags exchange involving political leaders and pharma companies which needs to be thoroughly investigated. The media also has a responsibility to publicize such initiatives so that the common man can buy drugs at affordable prices.
The existing skyrocketed costs of essential drugs including antibiotics clearly signifies that healthcare in India is a sheer business, investing the poor lives of the destitute. It is an open secret that life expectancy rate in India has declined drastically thanks to the increased carbon levels in the quality air, counterfeit medicines, devastating pandemics, drug resistant diseases and compromised quality of healthcare. Resultantly, chronic diseases caused by deteriorating environmental quality require almost lifetime medical aid under the supervision of expert physician, while expensive drugs will weaken the health and wealth of an unfortunate patient beyond physical and financial recovery. Taking advantage of this loophole, corporate hospitals loot lifetime savings from the ill-fated patients in the name of quality healthcare. Moreover, health insurance organizations will not come forward to offer financial aid as treating long-term ailments will become severely expensive.

In February 2016, the Government has removed customs duty exemption for 76 life-saving medicines that need to be imported. This ill-advised move works against the concept of affordable healthcare to all. The centre must take two quick steps: a) Complete duty exemption for all life-saving medicines; and b) in tune with the Make in India concept, permit MNC pharma companies to manufacture such medicines in India and make them available for domestic consumption. These will provide the needed logistical and financial relief to lakhs of patients. If this is not done 'Affordable Healthcare' will remain just an empty slogan, with no political will to make life saving drugs available to those who are in dire need of them at affordable cost.
