I completed 9 years in Daily Newspaper Newsband and more than 12 years in Kailashchandra Prakashan. Also I completed 4 years and 7 months as Editor of Daily Newspaper Newsband. I thank all those who helped me perform this feat. Thanks a lot!!!! Bye!

Bad roads and riding without helmet leads to rise in road deaths

NAVI MUMBAI: As the satellite city becomes more and more developed, the vehicular traffic also keeps on growing and road mishaps in particular become more common affairs. With rural people migrating to urban areas, cities like Navi Mumbai feel the impact and the pressure falls particularly on police department which has to come up with new methods of controlling vehicular traffic and preventing road accidents. With rise in human population and building activities flourishing, internal and other roads take the maximum hit. These roads join nodes to main and village roads, connect settlements with highways and two state highways. Many road deaths have occurred in the recent past particularly on these roads.

The national highways also crisscross city areas and skirt villages and there is a certain length of highways that run through the city. The road deaths were more particularly on NH 4 or old Mumbai-Pune highway which runs 31 km from Dahisar Mori to Dand Phata and the highway also runs through Taloja, Panvel township and village areas and these are become prone to accidents.

The migrants try to take illegal shortcut on the NH 4B at Padeghar village and this has become a headache for the traffic department. This act of migrants has led to traffic chaos and fatalities amongst bikers.

Another dangerous spot where road mishaps are common is the high-speed corridor of Palm Beach Road. Sion-Panvel road too witnesses heavy traffic resulting in road mishaps. The accidents speak volumes about the civic body's continued apathy towards providing safe motorable roads.

On dangerous roads, wearing a helmet can save your life. The fate of many accident victims would have been a lot different if they were wearing a helmet.

Over a year after the traffic police launched a serious campaign against riding without helmet in and around the city, there appears to be no significant change in most rider's habit of skipping the critical head gear. According to data compiled by the traffic police, almost all the two-wheeler riders killed in road accidents are those who didn’t wear helmet. This should be warning enough of the fate awaiting those who drive without protective head gear.

However, consequences of a road mishap seem to be no deterrent for drivers in the city. If anything, the number of violators challaned for driving without a helmet has only increased, thus proving traffic police's sustained enforcement of the rule as on the motorist's callousness towards their own safety.

City-based doctors, including orthopaedics and neurologists, report an increase in the number of patients suffering from completely preventable injuries sustained while riding. The injuries include serious head wounds big enough to alter the victim's entire course of life. According to one of these doctors, “

In the accidents involving two wheelers, serious injuries can be prevented simply by wearing a helmet. Apart from proving fatal, a serious road accident, that involves a head injury, can severely impact the skull and brain which can take a couple of months to heal. In a worst case scenario, the victim may even be paralysed or suffer serious neurological disabilities.

A city resident suggests, “Most of the city roads are dangerous. Officials responsible for making them dangerous should be punished and should be made personally liable to compensate the road victims.” Even a minor injury can impact the brain's functioning. An injury to the head can show up in many different ways - from simple forgetfulness and lack of concentration to severe migraines and insomnia. In some cases, old-age related Alzheimers and Parkinson's disease, even epilepsy may be rooted in a head injury sustained several years ago. The risks are far too grave to be ignored and a helmet is the easiest way to prevent injury."

A senior policeman said, “It is wrong that riders resist wearing a helmet. Riders give the most illogical arguments for disobeying not only a rule, but also a directive on the matter from the Supreme Court. They forget that by not wearing a helmet, they are only endangering their own life. Most of them continue to live with false notions that nothing can happen to them."

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Newsband is nine years old today' that was published in Newsband

Newsband is nine years old today

Today is the 9^th anniversary of Newsband which we are proud to say is the only full-fledged daily newspaper which has survived for so long in the city of Navi Mumbai. The credit should go to our publisher as well as all the other employees of Newsband who have shed blood, sweat and tears to make Newsband what it is today. We only pray that Almighty will continue to keep us strong enough to keep this beloved newspaper of ours going for as long as possible in the future too.

Some might argue that Newsband is not the only daily newspaper in Navi Mumbai but that there are other major publication which come out with daily Navi Mumbai supplements. But remember, they are only supplements and not full-fledged daily newspapers. Agreed that a couple of them are our tough competitors. But if you go by public poll Newsband is not at all lagging behind them; in fact, many are of the opinion that Newsband is indeed the major daily in the city.  

Newsband believes in democratic functioning and hence our newspaper publishes all kinds of points of views and we leave it to our intelligent Readers to decide which point of view to support or oppose. If you see our ‘Letters to the Editor’ column too, you will find that all kinds of opinions belonging to our Readers are published - may one opinion controvert the other. We believe that our Readers are the final judges. They are the Supreme ones who will decide what is right and what is wrong. Our job is to present all the facts and points of views to the Reading public who will ultimately pass on their verdict about which information to accept or reject.

Since the inception of Newsband, there has been many who worked for this newspaper but except for couple of employees in Newsband, others went on getting replaced. Old employees went away, new ones came but the newspaper never stopped functioning. It went on as if believing in the principle: Come What May, The Show Must Go On.

Thus we have now arrived at the completion of ninth year of our beloved newspaper, just one short of a decade. We are sure that our Readers who were the main people behind keeping our newspaper going will continue to do the same for years and years to come in the future too.

Blind’s Dream NGO enjoys a day at EsselWorld

EsselWorld, Asia’s largest theme park has always been a strong believer of giving back to the society through social development of underprivileged communities. Taking this belief forward, EsselWorld fulfilled the dream of 105 visually challenged girls from Blind's Dream NGO of Ahmadabad by hosting them. The park entails to the belief of always going an extra mile to enrich lives of people by nurturing them with unforgettable experiences.

Blind's Dream from Ahmadabad is helmed by Dr. Samir Mansuri who is visually impaired by birth. He is trained in Ayurved/ Nature Therapy and a Philanthropist and humanitarian at heart. He bought a batch of around 55 Blind girls with their 30 care-takers to Mumbai to fulfill their wish of flying and visiting EsselWorld on 26 April 2016 and had an exhilarating adventurous time. The members of the NGO were more than happy to spend their day at the park. EsselWorld organized a leisure experience at the park and served scrumptious lunch at the Oh! Mumbai restaurant.

Under the aegis of Blind’s Dream, Mr. Mansuri had promised to fulfill the dream of blind girls. He has already held few activity programmes for blind girls and boys in Ahmadabad like Music Competition, fashion shows etc. They brought together a 2 day trip to Mumbai, where EsselWorld became an integral part of the trip. On the 1st day they visited Iskon temple for a press conference which was attended by leading celebrities from Bollywood like Varun Dhawan, Meghna Naidu, Rashmi Ghosh, Tara Alisha Berry and singer Dipti Sharma. The girls were extremely delighted to meet their beloved celebrities which boasted their morale.

 The aim of the organization is to provide all the necessary rehabilitation assistance for enabling persons with disabilities to attain and maintain their optimal physical intellectual, psychological, economic and social level.

Displaying patriotism towards one’s country is compulsory

There is a debate going on whether citizens must chant the slogan ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Yoga guru and businessman Baba Ramdev’s remark that chanting the slogan should be made compulsory has provoked some people. He also suggested beheading of people who refused to chant the slogan. He said this when All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi said he would not utter the words in question.  

What really matters is government policy and not individual opinion. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was alleged as saying that those who do not proclaim ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ have no right to live in the country. He later confirmed that he meant that those who refused to chant the slogan had mala fide intentions.

Patriotism comes from the hearts of the people and chanting slogan such as Bharat Mata Ki Jai is expression of that feeling. Not only uttering these words but also uniting and working together to build a new INDIA, that is the real salute to BHARAT MATA'. Merely tomtomming that we love India without genuine love in the heart for motherland is empty talk to mislead and fool people. People who have no authority to make laws or issue fatwas in a country where the Constitution is supreme should have sense to appreciate the sensitivity of majority community.

While Mr Owaisi's language of "knife" bristles with the spirit of martyrdom, "Baba" Ramdev's "beheading" language invokes the bloody legacy of Parashurama. Let’s go back to know how this whole matter of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" came into mainstream. It was when anti-national slogan in JNU to break india was raised and so-called liberals came to their defense by calling it freedom of expression, RSS head Mohan Bhagwat made a statement "These days youth should be taught to chant Bharat Mata ki jai". And he was not wrong. Till here everything was all ok. But it was only after so-called secular leader Owaisi made a communal speech putting his religion at pivot and not nation, things turned out political as Congress, RJD-JDU & Left etc came to his support. But the blame is being put on BJP as if BJP is all responsible.

Baba Ramdev by what he said was not communal unlike Owaisi who was both communal and anti-national by his expression. When Mr Asaduddin Owaisi refused to chant that particular slogan he did not take recourse to the tenets of his faith but pointed out to the fact that the Constitution of India does not have such a ruling. Furthermore, Mr Waris Pathan, the AIMIM Legislator in Maharashtra who was suspended or not accepting that slogan did say "Jai Hind", "Jai Bharat" and "Jai Maharashtra". So that proves that not all folks of the AIMIM are "anti-national".

There are many slogans to praise our nation. Let the people decide which they want to chant. But people should stop calling certain violent expression as freedom of speech and something similar said by another person as one inciting violence.

Baaghi

Baaghi (English: Rebel) is a Hindi film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It features Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor while Sudheer Babu appears in a crucial role. The movie was reported to be based on 2004 Telugu movie Varsham.

Baaghi: A Rebel for Love, is the story of a die-hard lover who will go to any lengths to get his love. An intense love story with fine doses of action and drama, it will appeal to the youth and their sensibilities. Tiger has trained very hard for his role and will be seen performing some “never-before-seen” stunts. This movie is entirely different from Heropanti and Tiger looks all set to surprise everyone. The hardcore physical training has led him to lose 8 kilos and he is looking quite lean and boyish. The Action hero and martial art expert, Tiger Shroff will be again seen coping up for his love and thus diminishing every hurdle obstructing his path towards his desired aim. Gorgeous Shraddha Kapoor will play the love interest of charming cool actor. Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sudheer Babu, Ronit Roy are playing the supporting role. The movie depicts as to how Shraddha Kapoor meets Tiger Shroff. Shraddha Kapoor is playing role of Sia, she thinks she is born a rebel and Tiger Shroff is playing role of Ronny who likes to fight on every dam thing. Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor, both are looking hot in their respective manner. Movie has a lots of fighting and the villain is also shown as so strong that no one would dare to go to his place but our hero does and he succeeds in bringing back his love of life. On the whole the movie has romance and action.

The film has Tiger Shroff as Ronny, Shraddha Kapoor as Sia, Sudheer Babu as Raghav, Paras Arora and Sunil Grover as P. P. Khurrana.

The music of the film is composed by Meet Bros, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Tiwari & Manj Musik while the background score is given by Julius Packiam. Lyrics of the movie are penned by Kumaar, Abhendra Kumar, Sanjeev Chaturvedi & Raftaar. The first song of the movie Sab Tera is sung by Shraddha Kapoor & Armaan Malik. The movie has songs like "Sab Tera", "Let's Talk About Love", "Cham Cham", "Agar Tu Hota" and "Girl I Need You" and there is an additional song for the film named "Get Ready To Fight".

Shortcut Safari

Shortcut Safaari is a 2016 Hindi film directed by Amitabha Singh and featuring Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill. The film was initially titled 'The Trip’.

Shortcut Safari is a film in Hindi that revolves around a story of a group of urban children who get trapped in a dense forest during their school outing. It’s a story of exploration and adventure through the experiences of these seven children over three days, who gain values in mutual respect, team-spirit and perseverance on one hand; and the vital relevance of a clean environment with a balanced wildlife on the other.

The Man Who Knew Infinity

The Man Who Knew Infinity is a 2015 British biographical drama film based on the 1991 book of the same name by Robert Kanigel. The film stars Dev Patel as the real-life Srinivasa Ramanujan, a mathematician who after growing up poor in Madras, India, earns admittance to Cambridge University during World War I, where he becomes a pioneer in mathematical theories with the guidance of his professor, G. H. Hardy (played by Jeremy Irons).

The film has Dev Patel as Srinivasa Ramanujan, Jeremy Irons as G. H. Hardy, Toby Jones as John Edensor Littlewood, Stephen Fry as Sir Francis Spring, Jeremy Northam as Bertrand Russell, Kevin McNally as Major MacMahon, Enzo Cilenti as Doctor, Devika Bhise as Janaki and Arundhati Nag as Ramanujan's mother.

Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is a 2016 American comedy film directed by Garry Marshall and written by Tom Hines, Lily Hollander, Anya Kochoff-Romano and Matt Walker. The film stars an ensemble cast, led by Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jason Sudeikis, and featuring Timothy Olyphant, Margo Martindale, Shay Mitchell, Britt Robertson, Héctor Elizondo, Jack Whitehall and Jon Lovitz.

As Mother's Day draws close, a group of seemingly unconnected people come to terms with the relationships they have with their mothers. 10 Cloverfield Lane

10 Cloverfield Lane is a 2016 American science fiction psychological thriller film directed by Dan Trachtenberg (in his directorial debut), written by Josh Campbell, Matthew Stucken and Damien Chazelle, and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. It is the second film in the Cloverfield franchise. The film was developed from a script titled The Cellar, but under production by Bad Robot, it was turned into a spiritual successor of the 2008 film Cloverfield. The film follows a young woman who is held in an underground bunker with two men who insist that a hostile event has left the surface of the Earth uninhabitable. The film is presented in a third-person narrative, in contrast to its predecessor's found footage style.

Waking up from a car accident, a young woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) finds herself in the basement of a man who says he's saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. The truth is that Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) flees her marriage after something happens with her husband, and as she's on the road, upset, she is in a terrible car accident. When she wakes up, she is in a bunker owned by Howard (John Goodman), a farmer, who tells her that there has been some sort of attack on the surface, and they are unable to leave now. There is one other person, Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.) in the bunker with them. Things go badly. That's pretty much it, and yet, using that very simple template, 10 Cloverfield Lane delivers a terrific piece of entertainment, tense and smart and concise.

PM comes up with excellent maritime strategy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Maritime India Summit in Mumbai, said, “The maritime agenda will complement the ambitious infrastructure plan for the hinterland which is going on in parallel”. Having been Chief Minister of Gujarat, a State that stands out in port development, Modi has a keener sense of this untapped potential on the seaside. In fact, the Indian Navy played a pivotal role in containing piracy on the high seas and is positioning itself as the “net security provider” in the broader Indian Ocean region with capacity building, joint exercises and increased multilateral exchanges.

The sea transport mode will continue to be the cheapest 'dollar/ton' mode of transport in the future. Successive Governments in the past few decades have never looked at its 7500 km coastlines with a strategic intent. Modi Government deserves to be commended for their initiative in this summit and one hopes Modi is allowed to combine his visionary foreign policy with this maritime strategy by chalking out perfect plan of action.

It is imperative to lay stress on harnessing our maritime potential. With its locational advantage India has huge opportunities to develop its sea economy which can add to overall economic growth in large dividends with 7500 km coast line. Sea area need to be explored for natural gas and petroleum. Fish economy with latest technology as has been adopted in Japan and East Eoropian countries needs to be given a further fillip as it will also generate employment to large number of employed population.

But by promoting such grandiose projects the Modi government should not overlook the basic needs of the vast majority of Indians of bread, Shed and job. Maritime reforms should be accompanied by agrarian reforms too.

The first ever global maritime summit organized by India is a very good initiative taken by the government. Since India is covered by water from the three directions the modernization of the ports creating economic zones, providing duty reforms and repairing facilities to the ships are much required development points.

Congress government neglected this excellent opportunity for 60 years in spite of having Prime Ministers with economist tags and hereditary qualifications so far. Good that a non-Harvard PM has realized this opportunity for which he may be accused by secularists as Hindutwa ambition to dominate Non-Hindu neighborhood.

NAVI MUMBAI: International Institute of Fashion Design (iNIFD), the world’s largest Design Institute proudly celebrated the much awaited IVANA 2016, the annual fashion show by the graduating students on 23^rd April 2016 at Four Points by Sheraton, Vashi. iNIFD Vashi has come a long way making its mark in Fashion Designing & Interior Designing creating distinct environment of excellence in fashion education.

IVANA 2016, promised to be a creative extravaganza by the graduating students of iNIFD Vashi who showcased collections based on innovative themes & concepts. Some of the exciting themes the students worked on were ‘NAWABI KHWAAB’ inspired from the Lucknowi Nawabs the outfits projected the heritage, culture and tradition of the royals; ‘CALL OF THE WILD’ that were conceptualised keeping in mind the trends in animal prints. This theme compromised lots of colours, prints, cowls, hand work, tribal accessories. Few collections like ‘The KHADI STORY’ and ‘PAITHANI’ were influenced by the ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ concept and Pride of Maharashtra. Ranging from inherently Indian inspirations to futurism the student designers were primed up to put their best foot forward.

The energetic host of the evening who kept the audience engaged was none other than the popular Ali Merchant, his wit and humor kept the audience enthralled. VJ Andy of Big Boss fame made everyone clatter with his humor and upcoming actress Giselle Thukral also graced the wondrous evening with her presence. Nithyashree Venkataraman of the Indian Idol fame left the audience amazed with her medley performance.

The evening affair was conceptualised by Aamir Aziz Khan. The fashion show featured renowned models like Sucheta Sharma James, Pooja Bhamrah,Nayaan Chaudhary, Shahnawaz Alam and many more choreographed by Parag Naringrekar.​

Because of acute water crisis in parts of Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court has evicted the Indian Premier League from the State’s cricket stadiums. All matches scheduled for May this season will be relocated. The Mumbai High Court’s order has succeeded in drawing attention to the seriousness of the drought situatio

n and the gross inequities that prevail in the way people access water.

In Latur, where the traditional sources of water have run dry, Section 144 has had to be imposed to prevent into a water riot. Trains carrying water are now being despatched to Latur. In other parts of India too, there is acute shortage, notably in the Bundelkhand region.

We are coming off two years of deficient rainfall. Water levels in 91 major reservoirs is alarmingly low, with no water currently in three reservoirs in Maharashtra. The country’s groundwater is over-exploited. The country will only begin to make the livelihood of farmers sustainable when it addresses the water crisis

The government ought to take every caution in its pattern of water usage now. And it should remain extra considerate if it is going for plans or programmes which will drive extra consumption of water for fancy affairs like that of IPL. This is not to oppose IPL matches being played in Maharashtra and the state earning good revenue out of it. The decision to shift cricket matches outside seems to be a move to bring awareness of the gravity of situation to the general public who seem too busy to care about anything outside their usual routine. What better way than Cricket in India can be there to publicize and gain wide media coverage to this grave situation?

The move will at least make everyone aware that the situation is so worse that their favourite game had to be shifted outside their state due to water crises. The judicial in our country is not foolish to make such moves. The game will not be affected and the matches will be played elsewhere. The people will get to watch the telecast as well. But, the point has been put across by the bench in an excellent manner. Kudos to Indian Judiciary!

NAVI MUMBAI: To fast-track Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) project, Joint Managing Director, V Radha along with CIDCO Officers visited Rehabilitation & Resettlements (R&R) Sites, Pushpak Nagar and Core airport area on April 22, 2016. Being informed about illegal quarrying taking place in the Airport Core and non- aeronautical area, Jt. MD personally visited the sites of illegal quarrying at Pargoan, Dungi, Kolhi and Kopar and noticed the gravity of situation and directed to file FIR under her signature in the Police station. The letter shall also be issued to Collector, Dist- Raigad, Chairman - NHAI, Chairman - JNPT.      

At the R & R Pocket Nos. 4, 5 and 6 at Vahal, Ulwe Node, Jt. MD took the review of ongoing land development works in Sector 24, 25 and 25-A. About 50% of the work is completed in Sector 24. It was informed earlier that, the land development work in Sector 25A could not be undertaken due to encroachment of container yard covering an area of about 16 Ha. To tackle the problem, Jt. MD enquired about the land acquisition status of container yard area. It was conveyed that only a small area of about 3.00 Ha. is yet to be acquired.  It was further informed that barring this container yard area, about 80% land development work is complete in Sector 25 and 25-A. Also, approval from PAP groups / societies is needed for some developmental works. Lastly, the retaining of wall abutting Amra Marg is in the scope of work of widening by NHAI and will be reviewed for further progress. 

Further, Jt. MD reviewed the status of land development works carried out so far and issues related to Pushpak Nagar. It was informed that out of 91 Ha. area available so far, 75 Ha. is completed except some pockets of area admeasuring approximately 12 Ha. As it has been left out due to villagers’ resistance and about 22.549 Ha is under forest clearance. The approval of the same will be obtained shortly. 

Lastly, Jt. MD reviewed the progress of the infrastructure work at Karanjade / Vadghar and instructed that the work should not be hampered due to the issues like tree cutting, electrical line shifting etc. Further, she also ensured that the work should be completed in time. Additionally, to undertake the developmental activities at Talaopali, Jt. MD informed that the rental scheme is on the anvil and very soon the villagers of Talaopali can be shifted. This shall aid to fast-track the development activities.

NAVI MUMBAI: City golfers with their golf clubs and paraphernalia is a common sight at the Cidco-managed Kharghar Valley Golf Course. Some golfers here were complaining about the amenities which they found were not satisfactory. They find the need of improvement in the toilets and the cafeteria and even the golf carts which they found were mostly drained of batteries. Some were not happy with the fees which they felt were not like those charged in other cities. The course has weeds growing, bunkers looking like craters and grass growing rather high on the sides of fairways.

The Kharghar Valley golf course is located at the foothills of the Kharghar mountain range that provide a spectacular backdrop – particularly during the monsoon period. The golf course is planned as a 18 hole, 7137 yard, Par 72 layout & currently has 9 holes in operation. The 9 hole layout is a long 3665 yard, Par 37 layout with 3 par 5′s. During the monsoons there is a majestic waterfall that flows over the cliff face of the mountains in the backdrop into a rock pool. During the wet season, lush green foliage transforms the landscape into a natural wonder of green. Kharghar Hills is also the setting of the important religious site, the Pandav Cave, and the golf course will offer controlled access to this area to preserve its iconic features.

The golf course is developed by CIDCO & after Central Park at Kharghar and Urban Haat at Belapur is another welcome addition to the ever growing list of city level facilities in Navi Mumbai. The Golf Course is spread over an area of 103 hectares approx and is located just across the Central Park in Sector-23, 24 & 25 of Kharghar.

The course is designed by M/s Pacific Coast Design of Melbourne, (Australia) & has plenty of challenges to offer all levels of golfers. There are 4 sets of tee boxes & the design incorporates changes in elevation, plenty of hazards, Bermuda greens & fairways & the unpredictable winds. Off the tee box the fairways look wide & inviting but small errors of the tee will most often find you in bunkers, water hazards, OB areas or thick brush which dot the landscape.

This course is open to foreigners too & operates on a PAY & PLAY model. A driving range, pro shop & practice facilities are also open. The project also envisages residential development over a period of time. The course was inaugurated on December 23 (Monday), 2012.

At one stage in the recent past Cidco had come up with the idea of forming the company which was to be next referred to the urban development department to finalize procedures. The company would have technical experts to operate, manage and handle the day-to-day activities. Since they did not have the expertise to run the course, they preferred to form a separate company that would be run professionally.

India's second public course to come up in Navi Mumbai - KVGC now offers an opportunity to golfers, young or seasoned, to pursue the sport. The members can tee off and relax in the scenic backdrop of Kharghar hills and Pandavkada waterfalls. Described as the only government-run golf course in the state, out of the 11 holes -nine are for playing and two for driving range where beginners can get training. Cidco had planned 18 holes on the lines of international golf course, but objection by local residents and other technical aspects of land acquisition delayed the process. Cidco then made a fresh move for acquiring land is in process.

The pay-and-play scheme, introduced by Cidco, before the golf course for the members, has shown good results with bureaucrats, businessmen and many expats working in the city wanting to play, said sources. Weekends have also seen higher footfalls. Those interested in playing golf, but not as a member, can avail the scheme, with Cidco charging nominal fees for weekdays and weekends.

Only US can help India

The three-day visit of U.S. Defence Secretary Ashton Carter appears to fit into a new security paradigm that is unfurling under the Narendra Modi government. By agreeing to sign the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA), India has sent out a clear signal that it has no inhibitions about being bound in strategic engagements with the U.S. This would qualitatively transform India’s relations with the U.S.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Mr. Carter have agreed to expand collaboration under the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative, infuse greater complexity in their military engagements and maritime exercises, commence discussions on submarine safety and anti-submarine warfare, and initiate a bilateral maritime security dialogue that would include diplomats and the defence establishments.

To Know USA and their defense regime is bit complex scenario for Indian intellectual. Hence what India need is a team of specialized people with extraordinary instincts, people with vision and full understanding of US defense physiology and their psychology.

The biggest threat for India is China. The only country that can help and has technology is US, plus you have 3 million strong Indian Americans backing India. India is obviously behind in military technology as compared to the US. And Russia is a third world country that is selling technology to the Chinese.

Pick sides that will help you; going both ways for the last 70 years and being non aligned has not helped. Selling 16 F-16's to the Paki's is nothing, the US is trying to manage them from the Chinese influence. If India supports US wholeheartedly, US will never find the need of Pakistan.

In whatever way India would like to seek collaboration with the USA the fundamental preoccupation should be with India standing on her own strength. The foreign and international politics of the USA will always, for the foreseeable future, depend on what it calls its "national security".

It is true that US has huge advantage in using Indian military base. US is trying to gain access to our bases to overpower China in case any unforeseen war breaks out in future. That is good for India. Only, instead of gaining access to their bases in reciprocity, we should ask them to abandon their military support to Pakistan.

With the defence agreement, India is not falling into any kind of trap. The increase in military co-operation sounds warning signals to all South Asia as China is taking all steps to control by having a close pact with Pakistan. India can turn to nobody else but US to protect them against two major rivals viz. China and Pakistan. Russia will never help India when it comes to negotiating China simply because Russia considers China as his brother.  

India has the same intention which US harbours and that is to completely surround China, in both land and sea. India is strong enough with a near equal population compared to China, and were we to develop scientifically and technologically with the help of US, there is no reason for us to feel ‘insecure’ as the present day leaders think.

It’s a sincere heartfelt attempt to shine light on the forgotten world of folk music. The story has autobiographical shades of Pawas own childhood experiences and that gives the movie a realistic touch.

Nil Battey Sannata

Nil Battey Sannata is a Hindi film directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari with Swara Bhaskar in the lead along with Ratna Pathak, Pankaj Tripathi and Ria. The film is produced by Anand L. Rai and Ajay Rai - Alan McAlex under Colour Yellow and JAR Pictures. The film has been backed by Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.

Nil Battey Sannata, starring Swara Bhaskar and Ratna Pathak, is a story about the relationship of a mother and a daughter and their struggles in life. We see Swara Bhaskar as a struggling mother who is trying very hard to raise her child. The girl is very notorious and outspoken and uninterested in studying. She is very bad in mathematics and fails in her 9th standard. When Swara confronts her, she says that even if she goes in 10th and passes, there is nothing good happening as Swara won’t be able to afford her fees. Swara loses hope and speaks to Ratna Pathak, who advises her to work harder and study herself (Swara also hasn’t finished her 10th standard). How the mother and daughter duo battle life, study, clear the 10th standard exam and much more forms the rest of the film.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, wife of Dangal director Nitesh Tiwary, makes her direction debut with this film. Visually, the film seems quite appealing and the music seems upto the mark.

Laal Rang

Laal Rang (English: Red Color) is an Indian 2016 Bollywood thriller film, directed by Syed Ahmed Afzal and produced by Nitika Thakur, Krian Pictures. Randeep Hooda, Akshay Oberoi and Piaa Bajpai are in the male and female lead roles.

The movie has Randeep Hooda, Piaa Bajpai, Akshay Oberoi, Rajniesh Duggall, Ashutosh Kaushik, Meenakshi Dixit, Shreya Narayan, Rajendra Sethi, Pushkar Anand and Kumar Saurabh.

The movie has an interesting plot. Rajesh (Akshay Oberoi) is a youngster who is in love with a fellow student Poonam. Poonam on the other hand is money minded and wants a guy who has a good source of income. Rajesh meets Shankar (Randeep Hooda) who runs a illegal blood bank. Shankar also has had a heart break through a Punjabi girl (Meenakshi Dixit) whom he still misses. Though initially Rajesh is not aware of Shankar’s illegal trades, he likes it the moment he comes to know about it and gets involved to earn quick money to impress Poonam. Slowly as the business kicks off, Rajesh starts showing off his money to Poonam. Poonam who is greedy incites Rajesh to get more and this brings friction between Rajesh and Shankar. The cops who have got the hint of this business are also closing in on the illegal activity led by a dabang inspector (Rajniesh Duggall). As things start to fall apart Rajesh starts to play the victim card in front of Poonam. How the illegal activities come to an end and what becomes the fate of Shankar and do Rajesh and Poonam really love each other forms the end of the story.

Santa Banta Pvt Ltd

Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd. is a 2016 Bollywood Comedy drama film directed by Akashdeep Sabir and produced by Viacom 18 and will be distributed by Viacom 18 and Cinetek Telefilms. The film features Vir Das, Boman Irani, Lisa Haydon and Neha Dhupia in leading roles.

The movie has Vir Das as Banteshwar Singh Bolair/ Bunta, Boman Irani as Santheshwar Singh Solair/ Santa, Neha Dhupia, Lisa Haydon, Johnny Lever, Ram Kapoor, Vijay Raaz and Sanjay Mishra.
