Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Allowing FDI into aviation sector is good move' that was published in Newsband

Allowing FDI into aviation sector is good move
Central Government is aiming at making India the most open economy in the world for FDI. The focus is particularly on the civil aviation sector. Raising the FDI limit for airlines to 100 per cent, with automatic approvals for foreign ownership up to 49 per cent, sounds good.
In theory, a foreign airline could tie up with other institutional investors like private equity funds to form a 49:51 joint venture and tap India’s double-digit air traffic growth. It will require an airline’s chairman and at least two-thirds of its directors to be Indian citizens, and substantial ownership and effective control to be vested in Indian nationals.
If you compare India with other countries, the U.S. now allows around 25 per cent foreign ownership in airlines, South Korea permits 49 per cent and Chile a full 100 per cent.
By allowing FDI into aviation section sector, the government has thrown open invitations to corporates. Now, the sector will be flooded by competitive industrialists to occupy market shares and in the process ultimate consumers may be benefited with cheaper air travel as well as alternative sources to choose. This may also boost revenues for government as it can levy taxes on the aviation companies operating in the country and using Indian air space.
The opening of the aviation sector with 100 percent participation on internal flights through automatic approval route indeed is a big ticket of reform and certainly will increase traffic thrice by bringing even the ordinary people into the net of air connectivity. At the same time limiting the individual investment at 49 percent of the overseas air operator with Indian top brass control is a fine piece of hemming and the cautious strategy of regaining the driver seat at times of emergency without legal snag is also welcome.
We should not give a surrender throw of key sectors like aviation and defence with high border vulnerabilities with clever and cruel neighbours like China and Pakistan. Make in India is good coupled with the caveat safety India.

New movies released in Navi Mumbai
By Dinesh Kamath
Shorgul

Shorgul is a Bollywood, political drama film directed by Pranav Kumar Singh alias P Singh and Jitentra Tiwari. The film is produced by 24 FPS film Pvt Ltd. Samira Kelkar is CEO of 24FPS Films. The movie is co-produced by Prashant Vijay Singh and Aman Singh. It was earlier titled as Zainab. The film stars Jimmy Shergill, Hiten Tejwani, Suha Gezen, Ashutosh Rana, Narendra Jha, Anirudh Dave and Sanjay Suri in lead roles. The film is loosely based on 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
The film is based on the innocent friendship between a Hindu boy Raghu (Anirudh Dave) and a Muslim girl Zainab (Suha Gezen) which rapidly escalates into a political minefield, causing unrest and chaos in Uttar Pradesh.
Chaudhry, is a just & influential village Jaat leader who stands up for the farmers and gives them justice regardless of cast, creed or religion. Ranjeet Om on the other hand is a malicious, opportunist MLA. The problem sparks when Chaudhry's justness and fight against the Land Acquisition Bill, comes in the way of Om's political and personal ambitions.
Chaudhry's son, Raghu and Zainab are best friends. Zainab is set to be married to Saleem. Saleem is a fair, reserved and peace loving individual who loves Zainab deeply. Raghu too loves Zainab but deems it useless to reveal his feelings to his best friend, as it will only hurt the people he cares for. Mustakeem, Saleem's cousin and a religious fanatic, is against Zainab's friendship with a Hindu boy. He questions their intentions and plants the seed of suspicion in the otherwise sensible Saleem.
Fuelled by his fanaticism, brainwashed by religious sentiments & political rivals, Mustakeen is seen as an easy pawn to aggravate. Clouded in thought, Mustakeem, kills Raghu under the guise of saving Zainab from him and protecting their Muslim girls from supposed ploys for conversion. The situation gets a communal twist with Om taking advantage of the death of Chaudhary's son, & chooses to bring religion on the center stage. Despite the intervention of the chief minister, the matter snowballs and takes unexpected, ugly turns and becomes a national issue in question.
As the story unfolds, we begin to question; In the midst of this political & religious intolerance, where does humanity really stand?
The movie has Jimmy Shergill as Ranjit Om, Ashutosh Rana as Chaudhary, Narendra Jha as Alim Khan, Anirudh Dave as Raghu, Chaudhary's son, Hiten Tejwani as Saleem, Sanjay Suri as Mithilesh Yadav, Eijaz Khan, Suha Gezen as Zainab, Neetu Pandey as Savitri, Hrishitaa Bhatt and Jay Shanker Pandey 'Jay' as ANWAR.

Now, he has been invited back to the Congo Free State to serve as a trade emissary of the House of Commons, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the corrupt Belgian Captain Léon Rom (Christoph Waltz). Free State of Jones

Free State of Jones is a 2016 American war film inspired by the life of Newton Knight and his armed rebellion against the Confederacy in Jones County, Mississippi, during the American Civil War. Written and directed by Gary Ross, the film stars Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mahershala Ali and Keri Russell.
The story is based on the history of Jones County, Mississippi during the Civil War and the immediately following period. Although the plot of the movie is fiction, the overall story follows the history of Jones County, and many of the events portrayed are true.

After surviving the 1862 Battle of Corinth, Newton Knight, a poor farmer from Mississippi, leads a group of deserters and local slaves in an armed rebellion against the Confederacy in Jones County. Knight subsequently makes a home with a former enslaved woman, Rachel. He establishes a mixed-race community. Knight launches an uprising that leads Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones. Knight continued his struggle into Reconstruction, distinguishing him as a compelling, if controversial, figure of defiance long beyond the War.

Fifth All India Hindu Adhiveshan (Convention): Pro-Hindus announce campaigns against corruption, bribery and obscenity
By Dinesh Kamath

The Fifth All India Hindu Adhiveshan, held in the Vidyadhiraj Hall of the Shri Ramnath Temple, recently concluded on the 25th of June. The Hindu Adhiveshan, which had started on the 19th of June, witnessed the participation of over 400 delegates of 161 organisations from 22 states as well as neighbouring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The following Resolutions were passed in the 5th All India Hindu Adhiveshan:
1.        It was decided that in interest of world peace and prosperity, all legal options to ensure that India is declared a Hindu Rashtra will be explored. The Indian Parliament should declare the country as a Hindu Rashtra
2.        Hindus from Nepal are trying to get the Himalayan nation declared a Hindu Rashtra again. The All India Hindu Adhiveshan extends complete moral, political support to their cause. The Nepalese parliament should nullify the present secular constitution and declare the nation as a Hindu Rashtra.
3.        The central government should bring a nationwide ban on cow slaughter and also ensure its stringent implementation
4.        Atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka should be investigated by an international Human rights committee as well as the Indian government. The Bangladeshi government has failed to protect the Hindus there. So the Hindus should be allowed to have a separate homeland in Bangladesh.
5.        The Kashmiri Hindus should be rehabilitated in Jammu and Kashmir.
6.        The Hindu Adhiveshan condemns the Goan government’s ban on Sriram Sena’s Shri. Pramod Muthalik’s entry to the state.
7.        The central government should take steps to ensure that innocent seekers of Sanatan Sanstha are not harassed by the agencies investigating the murders of rationalists.

8.        The central government should ban any anti national activity in places of learning like Universities. Also, immediate action should be initiated against those students found indulging in such activities.

Dinesh Kamath likes Taraji P Henson as Loretha “Cookie” Lyon in American TV Serial ‘Empire’

I love Taraji P Henson as Loretha “Cookie” Lyon in American TV Serial ‘Empire’

Loretha "Cookie" Lyon, the fictional character from the American musical drama Empire on Fox, portrayed by Taraji P. Henson, is shown as the ex-wife of former drug dealer turned hip-hop mogul, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard).  She begins with a bang when she gets released from prison and strikes out to lay claim to half of their multimillion-dollar record label, which was initially funded by her drug money. Her love for her children is legendary. Cookie strives to ensure that her children would get the best out of everything. In the drug dealing business, Cookie's life has revolved around music, money, and dodging the law. Cookie had been involved in drug dealing thus forcing her to serve 17 years in prison, preventing her from being in her sons' lives. After Lucious becomes distant from Cookie while she is incarcerated, the two eventually get a divorce.
Cookie is shown as a character who will stop at nothing to get what she wants and she will cause "havoc" along the way. Cookie is shown as "very complicated and complex". Cookie is a "strong" woman who puts her "family first." Cookie "doesn't compromise at all - never herself, and never her truth." Cookie is a "tell-it-like-it-is everywoman." Cookie "does whatever she has to do" to support her family. Female viewers could identify with Cookie simply because "She's just real." Cookie is not "malicious" but she "shoots straight from the hip" and she's usually right. A big part of the character is Cookie's fashion. Cookie is fierce, caring and extremely powerful. Her wardrobe is filled with fur, animal prints, golds and sparkles. Cookie's sense of fashion is inspired by Michelle Obama. Her overall performance is of the kind that made critics and Hollywood insiders take notice. The character of Cookie has been well received, and Taraji Henson was immediately praised for her portrayal. She is described as the femme fatale. Cookie is undoubtedly the "heart" of the series. Cookie looks like a "complicated woman who is far from one-dimensional" thanks to the "emotional sensitivity" that Taraji Henson brings to the character. Her character is unprecedented in that I've never seen a woman or a mother like this on TV, so full of trouble and saying all the wrong things and yet you understand where she's coming from. Taraji Henson plays Cookie with "fire and fabulosity."

Taraji Henson deservedly won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Cookie. She was also nominated for an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Henson won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a drama series.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Salman, just apologise and close the chapter' that was published in Newsband

Salman, just apologise and close the chapter
Salman Khan uttered something related to ‘rape’. and regretted his remarks. His father, Salim Khan, issued an apology on behalf of his errant superstar son.
While talking about his latest film, Sultan, Salman said “When I used to walk out of that ring, it used to be like a raped woman walking out.” The comment has been interpreted in different ways.
This is not the first time a rape reference has caused outrage. Seven years ago, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, then the president of the Congress’s Uttar Pradesh unit, found herself arrested for one such remark.
Why there is a storm over a remark Salman retracted almost as soon as he made it when there is no serious discussion about the widespread culture of rape jokes and rape analogies in general? In other words, everyone seems happy discussing and bashing an individual celebrity – while studiously refraining from debating the larger issue. There was never this kind of widespread outrage, for instance, when a "balatkar" joke was made by the Thinking Khan in 3 Idiots.
That is not to absolve Salman – but it is to say that instead of doing the easy thing of crucifying Salman on twitter, we should be resolving to stand up to such jokes or analogies when our boss/colleague/friends indulge in them. What about our esteemed students in IIT and other engineering institutions who regularly cite the above word regarding their semester exams?
It is true that as a role model, Salman Khan should have shown greater gender sensibility and sensitivity. He showed no discernment in distinguishing between his exertions to attain perfection in his role in the movie and the violation of a woman, a terrible and traumatic experience. He is to be blamed if he is accused of trivialising sexual crimes against women. He should have been more conscious that he would come in for flak, given his status. No doubt Salman Khan erred, but he can be spared for sparing no effort to make millions of film buffs happy. He cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be called anti-women.
Post Delhi, the word 'Rape', the subject 'Rape' has entered almost all households through electronic & print media. The word 'Rape' has become too common which one gets to read, hear of it.

Salman is a powerful Bollywood celebrity with millions of fan following. Hence, whatever he does or utters acquires a disproportionate attention and attracts critical attention. All he has to do is express regret for the choice of the word to convey the extreme physical ordeal and discomfort he had gone through following a lengthy shoot. Wonder why he chose to put himself in the position of a woman subjected to the most shameless and brutal act. Surely he could have thought of a more civilised and less controversial analogy. May be, he has his own limitations. His father was quick to react and apologised on Salman's behalf. Obviously some people are not satisfied with it and are demanding an apology from Salman. All that Salman should do now is apologise for an inadvertent utterance and close the chapter.

“Earlier, principle-based politics was practised; however today, there is a vast difference between talks and actual actions of politicians. One needs to face many obstacles in carrying out the mission for Dharma after joining politics,” said Shri. Raja Singh Thakur, BJP MLA from Telangana, while speaking at the concluding session of the 5th All India Hindu Convention organised at the meeting hall of Ramnathi Temple, Goa. On this occasion, Maharajadhiraj Maharao Raghuvirsinhji Bahadur of Sirohi Sansthan (Princely State), Rajasthan, Prof. Rameshwar Mishra, Director, Hindu Vidya Kendra, Varanasi, Dr. Madhav Bhattarai, President, Rashtriya Dharmasabha Nepal and H.H. (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale, National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti were present on the dais.
MLA Raja Singh Thakur further said, “The current government, instead of taking action against those indulging in cow slaughter, Love Jihad and religious conversion of Hindus by deceit, actions are being taken against Hindus themselves. Why injustice is being done with Hindus and Hindutva despite our country being ruled by Hindus?”
Nationalism without sadhana (Spiritual Practice) is hollow and destructive, said Prof. Rameshwar Mishra

“In future, only two alternatives: Islamic Nation or Hindu Rashtra,” said H.H. (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Filmmakers, CBFC and Judiciary' that was published in Navi Mumbai

Filmmakers, CBFC and Judiciary
The Bombay High Court asked the Central Board of Film Certification, Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani, that Udta Punjab be granted a certificate in the ‘Adult’ category and allowed to be screened with one cut and a disclaimer. The film depicts scenes related to drug abuse. The court has served a reminder that certification, and not censorship, is the real job of the CBFC. And that the changes and cuts must be exercised only in line with provisions of the Constitution and Supreme Court orders. Its mandate is not to interfere with the film-maker’s creative process and freedom of expression. In other words there should not be an attempt to choke free speech and expression.
The Shyam Benegal Committee, which recently submitted its report on norms relating to film certification, recommended that the CBFC should be nothing more than a certification body. It has suggested that films be classified on the basis of their suitability to different age groups.
Freedom of expression is one of the essential benefits of democracy. The art of portraying the reality through entertainment medium is very old and popular method used by artists/ directors/ writers/ poets and many others. Why there is no hype when a singer dedicates a song related to real time situation? Maybe there is no censorship or CBFC type body in that situation.
Bombay high court's decision on film certification presents a grim picture of administrative capabilities of CBFC. It’s unfortunate that even such cases also needs to be addressed by courts.
Film making involves a lot of creativity by its director and all who are involved with it. Creativity can find its expression only with freedom to do it. Our Constitution has taken care of any misadventure while letting enjoy this freedom under its reasonable restrictions. By laying down certain standards based on prejudices or anachronistic values and expecting film makers to work within those, will create filth and not film. CBFC should raise its standards although there is no doubt that it is doing a great job since its establishment, accommodating changing values in the society.
In our country, people have right to express what they feel. It is important for country’s development that every person feels free in their domain unless it is constitutionally illegal.
Filmmaker is one of the most creative person, they present issues in dramatical manner that we Indians like. Film is one of the best way to create awareness among public. Do not restrict freedom of Film.

Thus this is the story of duel between the filmmakers and the CBFC, and the all-binding and decisive mediation by the judiciary.

The 7-Day long All India Hindu Convention concluded at Ramnathi Temple in Goa.
“India is seeing rampant appeasement of minorities under the pretext of secularism and atrocities on Hindus. With this in mind, Modi Government should use its clout in having Nepal's secular constitution scrapped and Nepal declared a ‘Hindu Rashtra’. Demand to this effect was raised in the 5th All India Hindu Convention.
The brotherly relations of present Government in Nepal with India are facing extinction, and China wants to take undue advantage of this situation. The increasing influence of China over Nepal is detrimental to the security of India; therefore, India should interfere in the issue in time and turn Nepal into a Hindu Rashtra, appealed Shri. Ramesh Shinde, National Spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
Those present in the press conference included Shri. Raja Singh (BJP MLA of Telangana), Dr. Madhav Bhattarai (President, Rashtriya Dharmasabha Nepal), Prof. Rameshwar Mishra (Director, Hindu Vidya Kendra, Varanasi) and Adv. Virendra Ichalkaranjikar (National President, Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, Mumbai).
In the Convention for 'Hindu Rashtra Sangathak', organised as a second stage of the 5th All India Hindu Convention, various programmes were drawn for developing devout Hindu activists into expert organisers.
Agitations, Dharmasabhas, exhibitions will be organised all over the Nation under Common Action Programme. There will also be Education on Dharma and self-defence training classes.

In the Convention, deliberations were held on various topics such as spread of Swadeshi products, use of social media, opposition to western practices, countering Love Jihad, opposition to religious conversions, Goraksha and Gosanvardhan, remedies on the problem of intrusion of Bangladeshis, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus and remedies on the security of exploited Hindus in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other countries.

“So that Hindus develop pride in their own Dharma, their traditions, their ancestors, Bharat’s history should be re-written. In Bharat, the history written by conspirators is being imposed on the citizens. How can Bharat prosper by teaching the history of England, France? If the true history of Bharat is not going to be taught in the secular Universities, then Hindus should make a demand for the right to establish their separate Universities,” stated Prof. Rameshwar Mishra, the Director of the Hindu Vidya Kendra from Varanasi (UP). He was talking on the subject of ‘Protection of Hindutva’ in the 5th All India Hindu Convention held at Ramnathi, Goa.
Prof. Kusumlata Kedia, Director, Dharmapal Shodh Peeth, Bhopal (MP), said, “if consideration is given to description of Bharat in the Scriptures, Puranas, we will realise that, all Arab and Muslim countries including Afghanistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan were the Sanskrut speaking countries few thousand years back. All these countries used to worship all Deities including Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and the river Ganga. Also, the images and Idols found in Germany and Russia are matching with Bharatiya culture. As a result, it is proved that all these countries were parts of Bharat. Bharat possessed maximum warriors and Gross Domestic Product. As per Bharatiya almanac, it is a natural 'Sanatan Hindu Nation'. Therefore, the time has now come to restore the past glory of Bharat.”

H.H. (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale, National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti guided the attendees on how to develop appropriate decision making capability while carrying out mission of serving Dharma.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Open up pharma sector to FDI' that was published in Newsband

Open up pharma sector to FDI
When the Telecom sector was opened up to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) there was a barrage of opposition particularly from the left parties citing reasons that ranged from national security to losing jobs in the govt. sector. The pharma sector opening up will have far reaching consequences in the lives of the millions in the country. The drugs must be affordable to the people and the sector should not be left to the vagaries of the market. The govt. should play an interventionist role here. And it is in the drug industry that the MNCs are immediately interested due to better prospects.
As far as the pharma sector is concerned, many life saving drugs are not manufactured and distributed in India even by the MNC pharma companies having manufacturing infrastructure in India. The patients who are in dire need of such medicines with regular and assured supplies have to depend on their limited foreign sources to get them imported, by paying exorbitant customs duties. To help them overcome such difficulties, the GOI should convince those who want to directly invest in pharma sector to allocate a specified percentage of such investments for manufacturing such drugs in India, as a part of their corporate social responsibility. As an incentive to such investments, the profit earned from the sale of such life saving drugs in India, can be allowed to be repatriated without any tax in India. This will also be in tune with the Make in India policy with the achievement of a social goal of making life saving drugs easily available in the domestic market at affordable prices.

India now NEEDS BRAIN POWER combined with Local resources that would generate Jobs to the 400 million underemployed Human resource. When all doors are closed, the government should turn to foreign investors to maintain the momentum. The foreign investors have much more capital, expertise and experience in taking up these big ticket investments. There is going to be glut of investors in pharma sector particularlyh, since profits can be realized in quickly. The govt has its task cut out. It should carefully choose an investor who can give the best possible service without jacking up the price.

The filmmakers describe what they assert to be the problems of the Indian educational system, impeding opportunities for growth, and what they believe to be teachers' typical demand and supply mentality towards education.
Rough Book is a hard look at the education system in India. Though one of the finest systems in the world, the lacunae in the system have created issues that are threatening to clog the channels of learning in contemporary India. The story revolves around the division among students on the basis of their grade. It avoids melodrama. A teacher and her students rebel against the system.
Rough Book is based on actual experiences of parents, teachers and students told through the eyes of a teacher, Santoshi Kumari, who rallies through a divorce with a corrupt income tax officer to become a teacher of Physics. Her pupils are in the D division — "D" sarcastically refers to Duffers in the school by students and teachers. How Santoshi tackles a system to set her own terms for her students forms the bulk of a simply told, thought-provoking and urgent film. The rebellion of the teacher and her students are internalised to make a relevant and contemporary movie.
