NAVI MUMBAI: In
a time when most of them were getting ready to party and some were enjoying in
the warmth of their homes, there were few youngsters who decided otherwise.
They felt the need to serve the Navi Mumbai Police with hot Tea and biscuits to
over 700 deployed for the bandobast from 10:30 pm to 3 am on 31st December
2014.
"We have been thinking for quite sometime to take
care of the Police as this is the night they leave their families to safeguard
ours in the cold night," said Dr. Jayakar Ellis, Founder President, Heart
Foundation, the brain behind this unique service.
"It was so heart warming to see that we are loved
and being served at the time when we ourselves are serving them," said
Senior PI Redkar, NRI Police Station.
"As the night was getting pretty chill, my
subordinates were wondering if we could get some tea at 1 am and here we saw
two cars pull up and few youngsters came out to serve us with hot cup of Tea
and biscuits," said Senior PI Shekar Bagde, Turbhe Police Station.
Shri Vivek Massal, ACP, Zone - 1 said, "It’s so
awesome to see such desire to come out in the cold and also leave the celebration
of the New Year and spend time with us on the road especially by the
youngsters."
"I was excited when Dr. Ellis told us that we would
be serving the police and it was amazing to see the smiles on their face,"
said Kandaswamy Konar, Youth Director, Heart Foundation.
