PANVEL: No
action is taken for preventing a loss to the environment caused due to chemical
industries, sewage water and garbage during the entire year despite directives
from the Pollution Control Board. On the other hand, Municipal authorities and
hypocritical environmentalist sweep their duties under carpet during the entire
year and take up pollution issue during Ganesh festival, which is celebrated
only once a year. Thus they are equating Ganeshostav with pollution and
opposing traditional, religious immersion of Ganesh idols in the flowing water.
At many places, common devotees of Shri Ganesh are forced to donate idols and
immerse them in the artificial ponds built on spending crores of rupees. Even
human corpses are cremated with due honour. However, Ganesh idols worshipped
with faith are collected as donation and immersed in the artificial ponds; from
there, they are transported as garbage in Municipal dumpers and are abandoned
in empty quarries, dirty mines, unused wells, ditches or uninhibited places,
thus hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The statement was given by Dr.
Uday Dhuri, Mumbai Spokesperson of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (Panvel) in the
press conference held in Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. On this occasion,
National President of Hindu Advocate Forum, Advocate Virendra Ichalkarnjikar,
President of Gaud Saraswat Brahmin Temple Trust Mr. Pravin K. Kanvinde and
Sanatan Sanstha’s Mrs. Manali Naik were also present.
