Judicial system should be transparent
Chief Justice Dipak Misra rules that only he can
decide the composition of Benches and allocation of judicial work in the
Supreme Court. There are allegations of possible judicial corruption
against him which are worrisome. Now all the judges agree with him.
Justice must not only be done, but also be shown to be done. In this matter which involves allegations
against Misra, he should have voluntarily excused himself from the Bench to
decide the case. An accused cannot be having either the right to be decide
whether he can be prosecuted or worse even sit as a judge in that case.
Misra has shown an extreme disregard for moral principles. There are
unwritten laws which govern above everything that is written in the law books. Judiciary
is composed of mortals, alas - not angels or super human beings unfortunately.
If India's judiciary and the armed forces have indulged in corruption, due to some
constitutional or other privileges and sentiments people can’t question them
openly. They themselves won’t accept and highlight their corruption. We need to
do something regarding this.
Allegations of nepotism and corruption have been raised now and then over
the years. Recent increase in these accusations may be attributed to
controversial verdicts and unequal burden on judges. This might severely dent
the confidence of people on the judicial system in future
Judicial system should be transparent and straightforward. The judiciary
is a citadel of hope for the survival of democracy in times of crisis. The
commoners bestow their entire trust and optimism on this vital institution. If
its integrity is undermined, the nation as such would be orphaned.
