Another great
job by ISRO scientists
The Indian
Space Research Organisation has successfully launched the seventh and final
navigation satellite, IRNSS-1G. Now India has an independent regional
navigation satellite capability that covers the entire country and an area
extending about 1,500 sq. km beyond its border.
The United
States’ Global Positioning System has a constellation of at least 24
operational satellites and a network of ground stations across the world to
provide coverage globally. Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite System too is
global in coverage. China intends to expand the system for global coverage by 2020 and the European
Satellite Navigation System by 2019-2020. Japan too is establishing its own global system.
It is
undoubtedly a commendable job done by Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO
makes us feel proud to be Indian It is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to ISRO scientists. Let's hope that IRNSS too becomes
global in near future.
Among all the
public sector institutions, only ISRO has produced the cutting edge technology
that can compete with best in the world. Now with the success of IRNSS, i.e.
Indian GPS, it has again added a new feather to it.
Global
communication technology is fast improving and the launch of the satellite is a
step forward in this direction. This must be made available for all industrial
purposes so that trade and commerce improves rapidly among the countries in the
world.
We have
improved our positional accuracy which is key point as far as our strategic use
for military use is concerned. The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System
constellation (IRNSS) has now achieved the First step of catapulting seven
navigational satellite systems that would pave the way for India's own
navigation and global positioning arrangements.
There is scope
for improvement to make more secure the border areas along northeast and northwest
frontiers. The know-how is evolving, but there is a long way to go. Self-reliance
in such sensitive areas of technology is important, and there is an urgent need
to address weakness to compete globally especially vis-a-vis China.
