India witnesses an awakening!
Congress failed in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. But its failure in Delhi is most shameful. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal made a sparkling debut. Congress lost a lot of ground to the AAP in Delhi. Kejriwal’s exercise of drawing new volunteers outside of the tradtional political class is a big success.
Now it’s a bipolar contests between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress. It is now clear to everyone that BJP has an edge over Congress in the bigger battle in 2014. It is clear that in the race to be the single largest party in the next Lok Sabha, the BJP is surely ahead. The regional parties too will have a powerful role to play in the sense that they will have to decide as to which party they will ally with. But one should not underestimate AAP any more. It can create a magic in 2014 elections.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the BJP to victory in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP, under Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh and under Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan, did wonders. While in Delhi, the AAP which ran a high-voltage campaign against corruption and the established political class created magic.
Modi has been under pressure to reinvent himself as a mass leader showcasing a development-oriented agenda. But the voters are finding him a better alternative than enfeebled Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. There is also the possibility of Indian voters preferring Kejriwal to both Modi and Gandhi.
The rise of the Aam Aadmi party also signals public alienation from traditional political parties. The recent election result of Delhi is not only showing desperation of people by going towards a clean party but also a trend for future. In the 2014 elections, AAP might show big surprises. Muslims too are found to be fed up with BJP and Congress. They are finding AAP as a better alternative.
The success of Aam Aadmi jolted not only Delhi but the whole country. Delhi has witnessed the increasing awareness about socio-economic issues related to Aam Aadmi specially in youth. Kejriwal has created a system which thrives on honesty. The system is in its nascent stage. His intention is not to create another party for India but his aim is to end corruption permanently. AAP wave  is the sign of support in the matter of cleansing the system of corruption, nepotism, mediocrity, apathy, arrogance, paid media etc. The win registered by Kejriwal is the sign of the trust that people have in him and his party’s agendas. The efforts taken to reach out all blocks of people are undoubtedly applaudable.
There are non-Hindus who fear that BJP's victory might lead to them getting sidelined. But that might not be the case. In Germany, the Christian Democratic Union is ruling and nobody calls it a communal government. Nobody can deny the fact that in India we have a caste-based and religion-based set-up. True, this should change. If there is any party which might abolish job/education reservation based on caste and religion, it is BJP.
Another reason for the debacle of Congress is the never ending series of scams which clearly spelt out what our lawmakers were busy doing. The masses were sick and tired of these politicians who became a hated class. Educated youth no longer supported the dynastic theories and saw that this was only one way of increasing the family wealth. All in all this resulted in a change. The AAP showed the way and people now realize that anybody can enter politics and get things done for the common man. Our nation is witnessing a real awakening!
