Quota system - the cause of poor quality jobs and education
The Centre has extended reservations for the economically weaker sections among the forward castes in all educational institutions (including private ones) and government jobs. This is aimed at winning over educated Middle India that is unable to secure a decent education or white-collar job. The move is also meant to appease the dominant, resentful peasant castes, such as the Jats, Gujjars, Patels and Marathas who have been hit by rural distress and don’t fit in the industry and services sectors.
The initiative entails a Constitutional amendment to Articles 15 and 16 to include the ‘economically disadvantaged’ as a category entitled to reservations, in addition to ‘socially and educationally backward classes’. The creation of a distinct category of ‘economically disadvantaged’ upper castes is an altogether different matter.
The clamour for quotas stems from the inadequate supply of quality education and jobs. The economically weaker sections is existing everywhere whenever there is wide variations in the Income level of the people. It is a cumulative effort of the individual to sustain in the competitive world. The Government provisions in the form of Job reservations is in the miniscule for satisfying the people of country. Within the 100 percentage, all the economically weaker sections of the people irrespective of the caste, creed, etc would entail the process of determining which income level the people of our country is fit into which is a big question. Creation of intelligent people in terms of GDP Growth has been declined as per Articles intimation. Changing the percentage of job reservations is a political game for diverting the people’s attention from their ruling affairs.
The needed amendments must be made in the constitution in articles 15 and16 to include the term economically disadvantaged for giving life to this new needed reservation.
