NAVI MUMBAI: In
continuation to minimise the menace of drug and sexual abuse in the city, the
Navi Mumbai Police and Heart Foundation had their opening ceremony of
"JOSH 2014" - a football tournament "KICK FOR A CAUSE - AGAINST
DRUG & SEXUAL ABUSE" under project called PACT - Prevention of Abuse
of Children & Teens which was attended by Mr. K.L Prasad, Commissioner of Police,
Navi Mumbai who kicked off the event.
"Around 32 school
team are competing for the trophy," said Dr Jayakar Ellis, Founder, Heart
Foundation.
Today we had around 11
matches and the remaining will be tomorrow including the finals, he added.
"It is our small
initiative to join hands with Heart Foundation to spread awareness among
children with regard to drug and sexual abuse," said Mr. K L Prasad.
"Around 500
children attended the program and it was wonderful to have this event in my
area," said Senior P I Shekar Bagde.
Top police officials
attended the function like Mr Umap, DCP, Mr Mengde DCP (Crime) and Senior
Police Inspectors from all the stations. "We hope to do various programs
in future," said Vivek Masal, ACP - Zone 1
