Omerta
Omerta is a 2017 Indian
biographical crime drama film directed by Hansal Mehta and stars Rajkumar Rao
in the role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, British terrorist of Pakistani descent.
The film explores the 1994 kidnappings of Westerners in India for which Omar
was arrested and served time in prison and the plotting of murder of Wall
Street journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002.
The movie showcases the life of an
infamous person who has been proven guilty of one of the modern world’s most
heinous crimes. Attempt has been made to humanize a person who has been
declared a monster in the eyes of the law as well as of the public. Omerta
dramatises the life of Pakistani origin real-life terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed
Sheikh, known for his involvement in various attacks, including 9/11 and the
establishment of terrorism in Pakistan. The film brings to screen a stitched
visual file of speculation comprising what is known about the many activities
of Saeed, who has been at the forefront of propagating fundamentalist Islamic
terror for nearly 25 years now. The film
runs in no chronological manner jumping from one-time frame to another while
covering the acts and routes of Saeed, and this absence of continuity gives it
a distinct flavor. Rajkummar Rao brings to the screen an unnerving character,
one who knows exactly what he’s doing and feels a sense of pride after
butchering people as a means of avenging deaths of various Muslims all over the
world. Rajkummar's eyes convey the ruthlessness of Saeed’s acts. As his
bloodlust grows, he enrolls in several tasks including the kidnapping of four
foreign tourists in New Delhi in 1994 and later, he abducts the Wall Street
journalist Daniel Pearl (Timothy Ryan Hickernell). He hopes that a video
message sent from the kidnapped Pearl will bring America to its knees. And,
when Pearl attempts an escape, Omar bludgeons him to death. For the most part,
Omar keeps a straight face showing no emotions — neither when he is being
subjected to third-degree nor when he is being trained for his life’s biggest
mission.
The film has Rajkummar Rao as Ahmed
Omar Saeed Sheikh, Rajesh Tailang as General Mahmud, Rupinder Nagra as Maulana
Ismail, Keval Arora, Timothy Ryan Hickernell as Daniel Pearl, Kallirroi
Tziafeta as Mariane Pearl and Harmeet Singh Sawhney as Abdul.

Indian Never Again Nirbhaya
Indian Never Again Nirbhaya is
directed by Bidisha Adhikari and Kanchan Adhikari, and written by Ramesh
Chandra Jha.
The film is based on the true event
of Delhi bus gang rape in December 2012. The hostile, unpleasant night that saw
the brutal rape of an Indian girl "Nirbhaya" in a Delhi bus, leaves
shivers down the spines across the humankind. For those who were moved by the
incident and those who yet did not know much about how the night unfolded.
Directors of the film have weaved the entire incident into a film titled Indian
Never Again Nirbhaya. Casting Riecha Sharma in the lead role, the victim in
this case, the film will much likely stimulate emotions and susceptibilities. The
film Nirbhaya, aims at reinforcing the terrible implications of rapes - ruining
several lives and destroying family and societal harmony. The entire plot
revolves around the unfortunate incident dating back to December 2012 when a
young girl, in her early twenties, was gang raped past midnight in a moving bus
in Delhi. The incident assumed much more attention as it also saw the girl
being not only raped by a gang of criminals but also brutally injured. So much
so, that the rapists inserted an iron rod into Nirbhaya’s private parts --
threatening her life. The girl, struggling for survival, died within 3 days
after the incident.
The film crew, including actors
Gehana Vasisth, Bidisha Adhikari, Dinesh Mehta and Raju Kher.
