NAVI MUMBAI: Heart
(Helping to Educate, Associate, Rehabilitate & Teach) Foundation continues
to spread its message of sharing and awareness on child abuse, drug abuse and
caring through charity.
The founder President, Dr.Jayakar Ellis, along with a
team of 38 students interns from ITM Business School, Kharghar, have been going
around schools and performing street plays in front of Railway Stations, parks
and various places in Navi Mumbai from 5th of October and will
culminate on 17th.
"Every School we went, we were more than warmly
welcomed by the students and Management which shows the efforts put by Dr.
Ellis in these schools in the past," said Anuradha Ravi, Intern with ITM.
After few light moments with the children, the students
interns then went on to share their message of Heart Foundation and its unique
initiative called MAD (Meals A Day) wherein they taught the children about
caring and sharing. The kids listened with undivided attention and their
participation in all the issues covered was proof enough of their concern and
interest in social issues. “Abuse in any form shapes and wrenches a child’s
innate sense of faith and love. Her pure feelings are taunted”, says Neha
Dibba, an Intern.
Through this initiative people can sponsor upto three
meals a day for individuals or families who cannot afford the food. The main
aim is to feed as many children as possible through the funds generated and
friends of Heart Foundation. Heart Bites already has its presence felt in a
couple of School canteens and been able to cater to over thousands in just a
month. "Through this we are much closer to the children and hence would be
able to continue our Counseling as per the need of the Schools through our PACT
initiative. Heart Bites also proposes to teach the children the Joy Of Giving
through the MAD Initiative" said Dr. Ellis.
"We have joined hands with different NGOs which are
in to supplying vegetables, Chapatis etc so that they too can benefit from us.
Heart Bites also proposes to invite less educated youth who have the flare for
cooking and train them free of cost and once they learn, they will be appointed
in different outlet" added Ellis.
”Even the smallest act of helping others is like a drop
of water, it makes a ripple through the entire pond,” says Namrata Agnihotri,
another intern.
"There are still a lot of students to be made aware,
and we are privileged to be associated with Dr. Jayakar Ellis, a man on a
mission leaving no stones unturned to reach out to these tender hearts"
said Arnab Mukherjee, Intern.
"It was a wonderful sight to see youth performing at
the Kharghar station against drug and sexual abuse which is the need of the
hour" said Shwetha Kunte, resident of Kharghar.
Many of the students and faculty of ITM have shown the
desire to continue to support the NGO even after the internship is over and
what more can we want when more and more youth join us to fight against the
menaces of the society" said Dr Ellis Jayakar. For details, please call
