China’s Xi Jinping should support PM Modi to fight terrorism
President Xi Jinping of China has gradually emerged as the
most influential leader at least since Deng, and demonstrated his authority by
launching a massive clean-up in the name of fighting corruption, that felled
top leaders of the party and the military. Corruption is a major problem in
today’s China which witnessed the high economic growth that followed the
reforms initiated by Deng.
Even if Mr. Xi gathers unprecedented powers in the party and
the state, his tenure will be judged by how he addresses fundamental problems
that China faces. Xi should be held
personally responsible for the increasing tension that China has with all its
neighbours except perhaps Pakistan and North Korea.
Xi Jingping's attitude towards curbing corruption is one of
the important aspect of leadership. Corruption will disrupt pace of development
in any nation, it is very vital to suppress corruption in countries like India
and China. But, China
should mull about its foreign relations, mainly with India which indeed is the
only nation that is fighting terrorism in a very transparent way. China,
besides investments for its own benefits in South Asian countries, should also
stop supporting the nations that are incubating terrorism. Xi Jinping will do
his best when he aligns with Narendra Modi in building a bond to fight not only
terrorism but all the global problems as India’s and China's development and
cooperation are very important to answer many problems this region is facing.
The problem with China, as in India, is that Economic
development is dictated by alien concepts of Econometrics and Development
definitions. China could rise, not because of value additions of their innate
strengths in Resources and Human power, but on externally directed and needed
Economic wants - exports. Additionally, in view of the corresponding sidelining
of Local Human resources, China created a huge gap between a minuscule Rich and
a majority Poor. Many Smart Cities and huge infrastructure systems have been
built, most of them either unused or sparingly used. These dead capital and
unnecessary public spending, combined with huge moneys spent on Defense and "International"
business outing are currently draining China's balances in Economy, and added
to these are the huge corruption that have crept into all socio-economic
activities. It now appears that Xi is the one who is best to handle these
problems.
Chinese involvement on geopolitical issues and committing for
a big bonanza on Economic corridor via Pakistan are issues beyond its needed
concern. China is at its
transition from an export led economy to consumption oriented one. Further, the
empowered core leader must extricate the nation from taint of corruption and bring
about welfare of people.
