New movies released in Navi Mumbai

Mukkabaaz

Mukkabaaz (English: The Brawler) is a 2017 Indian sports drama film co-written, co-produced and directed by Anurag Kashyap. Produced jointly by Anand L. Rai and Phantom Films, the film stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Zoya Hussain, Ravi Kishan and Jimmy Shergill.
A low caste boxer (Shravan) trains at a gym controlled by a local Don (Bhagwan Das Mishra). Shravan falls for Mishra's niece (Sunaina). The Don does not approve of this match. Shravan strives to win Sunaina's hand in marriage and become a successful boxer while trying to avoid retaliation from the Don. The film is a sharp social commentary on the multiple battles (literal and metaphorical) that Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh), a common man who dares to have a spine, must fight on a daily basis for deserving to be treated with dignity and fulfill his ambition of becoming Uttar Pradesh ka Mike Tyson. The promising boxer has confidence and faith in his abilities. He refuses to bow down to the powerful, which doesn't go down too well with Bareilly's local goon and boxing promoter Bhagwandas Mishra (Jimmy Sheirgill). Used to thriving on people's insecurities and fear, Shravan's self-belief is perceived as defiance. Bhagwandas clips his wings and promises him his doom. Can Shravan, who falls in love with Bhagwandas' 'Brahmin' niece Sunaina (Zoya Hussain), win this bout?

The film is singer-composer Rachita Arora's first film as a composer. The film has songs like "Paintra", "Mushkil Hai Apna Meil Priye", "Paintra", "Bahut Hua Samman", "Bahut Dukha Mann", "Chhipkali", "Saade Teen Baje", "Adhura Main", "Bahut Hua Samman" (EDM Version)      and "Haathapai".

Kalakaandi

Kaalakaandi is a  2018 Indian black comedy film starring Saif Ali Khan. The film is directed and written by Akshat Verma and is produced by Rohit Khattar and Ashi Dua.
"Kaalakaandi" is a Marathi slang for when things go disastrously wrong. The film is a dark comedy about life, death and karma. Kaalakandi that has a flavor of Maharashtrian slang in it talks about the many kaands that are going around him. The movie revolves around a character named Rileen who has done no wrong in his life and certainly discover that He has cancer and he is not going to live long. One day when his brother is getting married, he pops out an acid that one of the guys offered him. It turns out to be the best night of his life as he interacted with two mafia guys and an upwardly mobile couple. Girl in this couple is flying to USA for further studies which could mean end of the love story for them. This movie encompasses three different stories and shows diversity of the Mumbai life by exploring different sections of the society.
The movie has Saif Ali Khan as Rileen, Akshay Oberoi as Angad, Isha Talwar as Rekha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Shivam Patil, Amanda Rosario, Shenaz Treasurywala, Nary Singh, Angela Krislinzki, Amyra Dastur as item number and Neil Bhoopalam.
The music of Kaalakaandi is composed by Sameer Uddin and Shashwat Sachdev while lyrics have been penned by Anvita Dutt and Akshay Verma. The movie has songs like "Swagpur Ka Chaudhary", "Kaala Doreya", "Jive With Me", "Kaalakaandi" and "Aa Bhi Jaa".

The Post

The Post is a 2017 American political thriller film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Liz Hannah and Josh Singer. Set in the early 1970s, the film stars Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, Bruce Greenwood, Carrie Coon, and Matthew Rhys. The Post depicts the journalists from The Washington Post and The New York Times who published the Pentagon Papers regarding the covert involvement of the United States government during the Vietnam War.

1921 is an 2018 upcoming Indian Bollywood horror film, produced by Vikram Bhatt, under his banner of LoneRanger Productions. It is the fourth film in the 1920 (film series). The film stars Zarine Khan and Karan Kundra in lead roles.
A couple try to protect their dark past and secrets in order to save themselves from future. '1921' will set a new precedent as far as the horror genre in Bollywood is concerned.
The film has Zarine Khan as Rose, Karan Kundra as Ayush, Anupam Kher, Toby Hinson as Mr Brett and Sonnia Armstrong as Lilly Lopez.
The music of 1921 is composed by Harish Sagane, Asad Khan and Pranit Mawale while the lyrics have been penned by Shakeel Azmi and Raqueeb Alam. Paddington 2

Paddington 2 is a 2017 live-action/CGI animated comedy film directed by Paul King and written by King and Simon Farnaby. Based on the stories of the character Paddington Bear created by Michael Bond, it is the sequel to the 2014 film Paddington and is produced by Heyday Films and StudioCanal. The film stars Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, with Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and Hugh Grant in live-action roles.
Paddington, now happily settled with the Brown family and a popular member of the local community, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, only for the gift to be stolen. Paddington 2 goes bigger and darker without losing focus on the small acts of kindness that make its ursine hero great. As we rejoin Paddington and his adoptive family, the Browns, our hero is searching for the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday. He finds just the ticket in an antique shop: a unique pop-up book. But while Paddington is saving up for it, a nefarious rival steals the book and frames Paddington for the crime. It’s no great spoiler to reveal that the baddie is Hugh Grant’s faded actor Phoenix Buchanan, a flamboyant weirdo who’s calibrated his levels of high camp to within reach of the summit of Everest. The plot has a whodunnit-and-how-do-we-prove-it element here that is a little more complex than last time

Downsizing

Downsizing is a 2017 American science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne, written by Payne and Jim Taylor and starring Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, and Kristen Wiig. It tells the story of a couple who decide to undertake a newly-invented procedure to shrink their bodies so they can start a new life in an experimental community. When the wife refuses the procedure at the last minute, the husband has to reassess his life and choices after befriending an impoverished activist.
When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community — a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.

The movie has following cast: Matt Damon as Paul Safranek, an occupational therapist who signs up for the "downsizing" program. Christoph Waltz as Dusan Mirkovic, an aging Serbian partyboy. Hong Chau as Ngoc Lan Tran, a Vietnamese activist shrunk against her will by her government. Kristen Wiig as Audrey Safranek, Paul's wife, who divorces him after her decision to not complete the "downsizing" procedure. Jason Sudeikis as Dave Johnson, Carol’s husband, who is an old high school friend of Paul and Audrey. Maribeth Monroe as Carol Johnson, Dave's wife, who is an old high school friend of Paul and Audrey. Udo Kier as Joris Konrad, an aging partyboy and Dusan's companion. Rolf Lassgård as Dr. Jørgen Asbjørnsen, Anne-Helene's husband and inventor of the downsizing procedure. Ingjerd Egeberg as Anne-Helene Asbjørnsen, Jørgen's wife. Søren Pilmark as Dr. Andreas Jacobsen. Among the smaller roles and cameos are Margo Martindale as a miniaturized woman on a shuttle bus, James Van Der Beek as an anesthesiologist, Niecy Nash as a Leisureland Salesperson, Donna Lynne Champlin as a Leisureland Administrator, and Don Lake as Leisureland Guide Matt. Additionally, Neil Patrick Harris and Laura Dern cameo as Jeff and Laura Lonowski, miniaturized sales reps. Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Dusan’s girlfriend and Joaquim de Almeida plays Conference Director Dr. Oswaldo Pereira. Also, Eric Burns plays a role as a Red Sox Nation Governor.
