than 100 girls were present for an awareness campaign on change lifestyle can
have a huge impact on adolescent girls.

NAVI MUMBAI: World of women clinic and North point school Navi Mumbai took an initiative to spread an
awareness on how adolescent girls leading a sedentary lifestyle with no
physical activity has affected their health.
More than 100 girls participated from North Point School for this
awareness campaign. A drama was played by adolescent girls on how junk food,
lack of physical activities, stress and much more has affected their
health. The act highlighted the risk
factors of lifestyle related disorders which can cause PCOD and no physical activity
and more time on mobile and laptop can aggravate health issues in future.
A survey was conducted by Dr Bandita Sinha, Gynecologist in various Navi
Mumbai schools, wherein 600 girls between age group 11 to 19 years were
present. The study was conducted to find out the risk factors associated with
changing lifestyle that can lead to obesity, diabetes, hypertension and
hormonal imbalances, which have long term implications on female health.
The main cause for lifestyle diseases are lack of physical activity,
irregular food habits, family history, changing lifestyle choices sedentary
work or study routines, stress. However, very few adhere to the basic tenets of
a healthy life; causing lifestyle diseases, hormonal problems and heart
diseases among women.
Dr Bandita Sinha, Gynecologist, Infertility specialist and founder of
World of Women clinic launches dedicated adolescent clinic for girls Teen O
Care for the first time in Navi Mumbai. “Last few decades I have seen many kids
coming up with a hormonal issues. Change in non-healthy lifestyles is
contributing to increase in risk factors among children for future health
conditions. Unhealthy lifestyle elements often lead to Obesity, Diabetes, and Hypertension,
Heart Diseases, Infertility and Hormonal Imbalance problems like Poly Cystic
Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).” Says Dr Bandita.
“Parents should also lead a
healthy lifestyle as the younger generation emulates their parents. Physical
activity and diligently following good eating habits is very important. Make
sure to reward children when they follow a healthy activity. Routine health
checkups must be conducted for children as well.” adds Dr Bandita.
Sudha Menon Principal of North Point School says, “I am very glad to be
a part of this initiative. It is very important to educate and guide your kids
about weight management, Nutrition diet, Consequences about increasing
consumption of junk food and lack of healthy eating habits which initially
affects health in future. I wish to take this collaboration further for many
more awareness campaign with Dr Bandita Sinha
