Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao to star in ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’
By Dinesh Kamath
Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut by
working in movie ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’ have evolved as Actors. The audience
will see more evolved performances by him and co-star Kangana Ranaut in
'Judgemental Hai Kya' as they have come a long way from their first film,
'Queen'.
The two actors reunite for the
upcoming thriller five years after they collaborated on the coming-of-age
blockbuster. Both are way more experienced today than they were during 'Queen'.
It is an exciting time for artistes
in Bollywood as they now get opportunities to experiment. There is no
typecasting in the industry right now. You can do whatever you want. You can
play with your identity, your character and if it is relatable for the
audience, they will definitely go and see a film.
Judgemental Hai Kya, a whodunit
directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and written by Kanika Dhillon, pits Rao's Keshav
against Ranaut's Bobby. Both find themselves as potential suspects in a murder
case which leads them to try and gather evidence against each other. Keshav as
a man has many sides to his personality.
The National Award-winning actor always
wanted to work in a thriller and is happy that it happened with Judgemental Hai
Kya. He had been a fan of thrillers like 'Gone Girl' and all. He had an amazing
experience because it is the first time he is doing a film like this.
Unlike his character, Rao is not
much of a judgmental person. He doesn’t judge people much. He is judgemental in
the same way any normal person is. In Mumbai, there is a culture where people
don't interfere into each other's lives. So he tries not to judge anyone unless
it is very important for him to read another person.
Judgemental Hai Kya is scheduled to
be released on July 26.

Rao-starrer Judgemental Hai Kya will have a two-city trailer launch today.
Producer Ekta Kapoor took to social media to make the announcement. The
producer also shared a new poster of Kangana Ranaut.
Like every Bollywood film,
Judgemental Hai Kya trailer was supposed to be launched in Mumbai itself.
However, with the Mumbai rains creating havoc, the film's trailer will be
simultaneously released in New Delhi.
The title of the upcoming film was
recently changed from Mental Hai Kya to Judgemental Hai Kya after the Central
Board of Film Certification found it a little harsh. Judgemental Hai Kya was in
the centre of a controversy after the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) strongly
objected to the film's title (Mental Hai Kya) and wrote to the CBFC seeking a
change in it. In their letter, they had claimed that it violated many sections
of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017. Given the sensitivity attached to the
issue of mental health and our intention of not offending or hurting anyone's
sentiments, the makers have decided to change the title of Mental Hai Kya to
Judgemental Hai Kya. CBFC has cleared the film with U/A certification with
minor changes, which the makers are happy to comply with. With the CBFC
clearance, the movie is all set to release on July 26.
The talented Kangana Ranaut and
Rajkummar Rao are currently busy on a promotional spree for their upcoming film
Judgemental Hai Kya. The film has been making headlines ever since it was
announced. May it be the title change, crazy posters or controversies regarding
the release date, Judgemental Hai Kya has been on the news. The makers released
the trailer of the much-awaited black comedy and left audience impressed with
Raj and Kangana at their wackiest best.
Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao
promise a madcap murder mystery. Watch here. Judgemental Hai Kya trailer is
sure to be a controversial film, since it is about a madcap couple embroiled in
a murder mystery.
The two-and-a-half minute trailer
introduces us to Bobby and Keshav, played by Kangana and Rajkummar,
respectively. The misfits get embroiled in a murder mystery, but neither can be
relied upon for the truth. Bobby is clearly unstable - a plot point that is
sure to become controversial - and Keshav is a suave, smooth talker. There are
conversations about ‘normal’ people and those who beg to be sent to asylums.
Given the choice, Bobby picks institutionalisation. Kangana, meanwhile, seems
to be channelling Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. Very soon, Bobby and Keshav are
pitted against each other as they attempt to clear their names of the crime.
Gone are the days when just books
and journals changed our perspective and the way we think. Apart from music
videos and documentaries, the one thing that everyone loves to do the most is
watching movies. Whether it's downloading films on your laptop or going to the
theatre every Friday, the movies we watch not only affect our mood but teach us
a thing or two about everything that's happening around us. Apart from fashion
and trends, the one thing we always take away from films is the social message.
Apart from waiting to watch the
film to see who the murderer actually is, the film caters to a wider audience
and sheds light on a subject that has been a taboo for a very long time: mental
health. The issue of mental health has never been openly discussed. After
Deepika Padukone opened up about suffering from depression, people began speaking
about their battle with anxiety and depression.
But apart from the title of the
film initiating a conversation on mental health yet again, the film portrays
Kangana and Rajkummar with eccentric personalities who have little quirks of
their own. Whether it's Kangana choosing to stay in an asylum over paying a
fine or Keshav's flamboyant outfits, everyone has eccentricities but they
haven't been normalised.
The film has Satish Kaushik and
Amyra Dastur in pivotal roles. The constant face-off between the two lead
characters is definitely going to be the highlight of the film.
Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao
shared two new posters from their upcoming film Judgemental Hai Kya on 2 July,
ahead of the trailer release. Rao can be seen standing against a bright
background with a stick of dynamite in his mouth while a
Fans are desperately waiting for
this one o a kind film to release. The makers have already raised expectations
with the interesting motion posters. The film will see Shah Rukh Khan in a
cameo. The movie is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 26.
