NAVI MUMBAI: Thane’s Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had assured the contract workers that he supported ‘Equal Work Equal Pay’ scheme and that he would ensure that these workers got justice even if he had to knock the doors of Supreme Court.

Ganesh Naik seemed to be sympathetic to even those contractors whose services Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation had terminated.

Navi Mumbai Congress strongly opposed Ganesh Naik’s stand of having ‘Equal Work Equal Pay’ for contract workers. They questioned as to how Naik could give such an assurance to these contract workers. They said that if such a proposal was accepted then these workers would have to be paid from the amount paid to NMMC by the city tax-payers. This, they added, would mean misuse of tax-payers’ money and injustice to tax-paying city residents.

Navi Mumbai Congress also strongly opposed the rate proposal that NMMC has come up with for collection and transportation of garbage.
