Free ambulance services to save accident victims
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: Vashi and Nerul stations have been provided with two ambulances. If the need for these ambulances arises, one has to just dial 108.
These ambulances have in them a doctor and driver along with all the facilities required to treat the patients and they are also provided space to park and facilities to charge certain equipment in the ambulance. It was Vashi which received the ambulance service first and next Nerul was able to obtain the same facility.
There were occasions in the past, before these facilities were provided, when the accident victims failed to survive only because of delay in medical attention owing to transport problem. But this dial-an-ambulance service is very prompt in reaching the accident spot when contacted and they provide the emergency aid required by the patients. If the patient is too serious these ambulances help in rushing him or her to the nearest hospital.

It is a free government service initiated after the constant occurrences of cases of people being hit by local trains. These free ambulance services did prove beneficial considering the fact that in some of the accident cases the doctors of these ambulances prevented the deaths of the accident victims.
