Traffic violations keep policemen on their toes
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: Traffic rules were found to be violated most at Rabale, Uran and Taloja. It was found that this year the traffic violations at these places took place in much bigger number as compared to last year. There were more than 20000 cases of traffic violations here so far. The cases are likely to increase further before this year ends.
The experts in traffic matters tried to know the reasons behind rise in cases of traffic violations particularly at these three places. During the survey they found that there existed a huge number of industries at Rabale and Taloja while Uran consisted of oil and gas units in big number. Also the villagers who reside in these areas have a tendency to stage rallies and protest marches every now and then and this resulted in constant traffic jams.
The riders of two wheelers were found to be violating the traffic rules most of the time by not wearing helmets. The other offenders were those truck drivers who carried in their vehicles more goods than the law permitted. These two types of offenders are prone to be the cause of many accidents which result in casualties or deaths.

The police authorities in these regions have chosen to carry out drives to ensure that traffic rules are strictly observed by the vehicles drivers. They focused particularly on Uran and Nhava Sheva regions where the vehicle heading towards the port caused problems which led to traffic snarls and violation of traffic rules. The policemen here are making desperate efforts to minimize as much as possible the cases of traffic offences.
