PANVEL: The Rama Krishnaa Academy School Annual and Founder’s Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and excitement at the school premises at Kewale, Harigram, Panvel on Sunday February 1. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Prashant Thakur, MLA who spoke highly about education and about putting Panvel on the road map of development. Shri Paresh Suktankar, Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank spoke about Shri Vaman Kamath, Founder of the school and declared that education should not only inform but form the minds of the students. Shri D M Suktankar, Founder Trustee-Chairman, Shri V Leeladhar, Shri A B Vaidya of Indian Education Society, Smt Kishori Udeshi, former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Shri Sudhakar Bhat, Shri Vinay Rao, Shri Nitin Prabhu, Shri N D Shenoy, Shri Balachandra Kamath and others graced the dais and also spoke on the occasion.
The prize distribution of sports competitions held during the year was followed by a lively entertainment programme where the children showcased the Indian army, the girl child, depicted the cleanliness drive and presented Goan dances, Mangalagaur dances and a qawwali on corruption. Rama Krishnaa Academy of Vidhyadhiraj Charitable Trust was founded in 2005 and currently has more than 300 students from six villages of the area. The village sarpanchs, parents of the students, invitees and others attended the programme. Present were also Smt Sumaira Abdulali, Founder of Awaaz Foundation, 94 year old Shri Datta Bhat, committee members of Balaji Mandir, Vashi and many other dignitaries.

Smt Harshlata Chimankar, Head Teacher of the school conducted the proceedings while Shri M S Adige, Trustee Chairman, welcomed the guests and also proposed the vote of thanks. Shri Raghuram Kamath, son of the founder and his mother were prominently present at the function.
