Intellectuals are playing double game
Leading historians, filmmakers and scientists joined the ranks of writers, artists and students to protest against increasing “intolerance”. Scientist P.M. Bhargava and filmmakers Dibakar Banerjee and Anand Patwardhan are among those to return their national honours. Eminent historians such as Irfan Habib and Romila Thapar led a list of peers to sign a letter detailing the acts of omission of the government. They framed a collective response to incidents of lynching, murder of rationalists and writers, and a general atmosphere of intolerance towards people belonging to minority communities.
What has happened to warrant such a roar by the so-called intellectuals who are all people of dubious distinction addicted to the disease of sending anti Mody petitions ever since Congress party started losing elections in various states and at the centre? It is unfortunate that an innocent Muslim has been killed because of beef controversy and the victim’s family has the sympathy of the entire nation. But hundreds of innocent Sikhs, Kashmiri pundits and RSS activists were killed during Indira, Rajiv, Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh regimes in different parts of this country and these intellectuals did not consider them as human beings and therefore were silent. How is it that when a Muslim is killed they are all on their toes and when a non Muslim is killed they are indifferent and rejoice?
Why so much fuss about few scattered incidents? I am sure it's political vendetta of few liberals to let down government. They don't want country to progress and want to keep us backward.
If the intellectuals truly believe in democracy use the ballot to elect another government and do not work to derail a democratically elected government whether it is Congress or BJP or third front. By returning awards they actually insult the people of India because it is the government elected by the people who gave the award.
People of every religion show some kind of intolerance sometimes or the other; so also the people belonging to Hindu religion. These so called Indian elite group can make the film "PK" portraying bad about Indian Gods and when Indian public and general public speak against it then it becomes intolerance but "Muhammad The Messenger of God" will be prohibited in India.
Most of these 'intellectuals" have a hidden political agenda- to undermine the BJP government. True, Modi must rein in fringe elements. The development agenda must not be derailed in any way. But the problem is, leftists have not reconciled themselves to the fact that all false campaigns against Modi in 2014 failed to prevent his election victory. According to them, the PM must chant the mantra of secularism at least a hundred times and that too before TV cameras to prove that he is not communal. If we look at the history of left movements, they have thrived by demonizing their adversaries rather than projecting a humanistic philosophy that is acceptable to the society. When communal riots and attacks on Dalits happened during Congress rule, these protesters were silent. They grovelled and crawled before authority during the Emergency. A climate of intolerance is being orchestrated against a democratically elected government with the help of an obliging media.

Return of awards is a selfish political game by the writers, scientists, artists etc. It looks every one of these want to fight with Modi but they never dared to return awards since independence when there were many worst incidents than the present one. This is the wisdom of the intellectuals who are playing double game with two tongues. Let the people decide on it.
