Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Obama was Pro-India' that was published in Newsband

Obama was Pro-India
U.S. President Barack Obama delivered his seventh and last State of the Union address to a House of Representatives chamber.
Obama was nice to India. Washington’s China engagement was more reactive than proactive, and led to more aggressive positions in the region. India, though, turned out to be the classic partner for Obama’s America — there was enough bilateral economic depth to keep ties strong, and the shared idiom of pluralistic democracy held the two nations together in a close but light strategic embrace.
Obama was the best President, American immigrants had. He tried to control the world without going to Wars. President Obama will have an outstanding place in history. In his speech he was right to remind the nation in his final State of the Union address of how powerful the country is and how optimistic Americans should be. He made an eloquent and persuasive case to remember the values of tolerance and idealism that best define America. He defended these values because that made the country strong and resilient. He said:” The world respects us not just for our arsenal; it respects us for our diversity and our openness and the way we resurrect every faith.” President Obama’s vision is of the US as the most powerful nation on earth, challenged, yet on the up once again, growing jobs, with better health care and startling innovation.
Obama should be congratulated for making overtures towards India. His multi-lateralism is widely appreciated across the ranks, which resulted in Iran's coming to table and de-alienation of Cuba. The IS has been a challenge to deal with as is evident from his present and many earlier addresses. Another bright spot in his career is the initiative taken to nab the terrorists responsible for attack on India by chiding Pakistan to take steps for speedy investigation in the last few days. It is clear that he is striving for an Indo-Pak patch up before he vacates his office.

Obama's list of once-in-a-century type contributions to Universal Healthcare, Education/R&D, energy issues that have drastically reduced dependence on Arab oil, agreement on Greenhouse gas emission and Climate change initiatives, various significant agreements with so many countries including China, Iran and Cuba etc. is a mile long. The world economy and definitely that of the US was about to collapse when he took office. But Obama brought the situation under control for which not only US but the whole world ought to be grateful to Obama
