The glorious Kharghar Marathon was initiated in 2006.
Initially, it was known as Panvel Marathon but subsequently re-christened as
prestigious Kharghar Marathon.
Ramsheth Thakur Samajik Vikas Mandal has successfully
organized 9 scintillating Marathons in the past ten years in collaboration with
Rotary Club of Panvel Industrial Town. The main aim of this Marathon is to
create awareness about health and fitness in one’s life and inculcate an urge
for selfless contribution in the development of society. This will effectively
result in the rapid progress of our nation as visualized by our visionary Prime
Minster and an inspiration for youth; Shri Narendra Modi’s most powerful and
resourceful dream project is – Make in India, Skill India for accomplishing
economic, academic and industrial growth and transforming our nation as a super
power in 21st century.
Make in India is primarily an initiative of the
Government of India especially to encourage not only multi- national but also
domestic companies to manufacture their products and goods exclusively in
India. It has been launched by our dynamic Prime Minister on 24 September 2014
with a view to make India as the top destination globally specifically for
foreign direct investment and to make goods of high quality standards. It also
aims to attract capital and technological investments in India by leaps and
bounds.
There are
three important categories included in the Marathon: Maharashtra state,
District and Kharghar Daud. There are fabulous prizes to be given in all the
race categories to the winners. The fund raised through this Marathon will be
utilized generously for community service projects as well as Skill Development
Programmes. The main source of inspiration behind Kharghar Marathon is
benevolent and philanthropic personality Shri Ramshth Thakur Ex- M.P. This
Marathon is scheduled on Sunday, 7 February 2016 under the dynamic leadership
and guidance of Shri Prashant Thakur, M.L.A. Panvel.
