Deadpool

Summary: Based upon the Marvel Comics anti-hero, Deadpool is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with new abilities and a dark and twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Trumbo

Trumbo is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Jay Roach and written by John McNamara. The film stars Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, Louis C.K., Elle Fanning, John Goodman and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film follows the life of Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and is based on the biography Dalton Trumbo by Bruce Alexander Cook.
Bryan Cranston finally translates his critical acclaim for “Breaking Bad” into an Oscar-caliber performance in darkly comic “Trumbo,’’ playing an eloquent, witty screenwriter who bucked the Hollywood blacklist and triumphed. This highly entertaining biopic focuses on Communist Party member Dalton Trumbo, who was once Tinseltown’s highest-paid writer. He was also the most prominent of the political activists who became targets when America and the Soviet Union became locked in a Cold War in the late 1940s. The film gives gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne too much credit for frightening the studio heads into instituting the blacklist. But it was Trumbo’s mocking of the House Un-American Activities Committee that led to him and other members of the “Hollywood Ten” drawing jail time for contempt of Congress. Some blacklisted writers, directors and actors worked overseas, but Trumbo employed false names, and in some cases “fronts” who took screen credit to keep constantly working in Hollywood to support his family. It’s a cracking good story, and Cranston does a great job portraying a man who made great sacrifices for his principles — and the effect it had on his family (Diane Lane plays his wife and Elle Fanning an activist daughter).

How To Be Single

How to Be Single is an American romantic comedy film directed by Christian Ditter and written by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, based on the novel of the same name by Liz Tuccillo.

The film has an interesting plot. There’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. Sleeping around in the city that never sleeps was never so much fun.
