Modi succeeds in minimizing corruption
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completely remodelled his Council of Ministers. Modi has clearly traded the promise of a lean Ministry in the “minimum government, maximum governance”. The emphasis on bringing in more Ministers is to give an edge to the Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat Assembly election campaigns in the months ahead, and careful arithmetic in inducting Dalit, OBC and tribal leaders is evident.
This has been a highly controlled exercise, one that will consolidate Modi’s grip on power, a prospect that will worry his political rivals as well as some within his own party. After two full years at the helm, it should have been Modi's achievements that should have acted as winners for BJP in the upcoming state elections. Instead, he seems to be banking on individual inductees in his cabinet to attract certain bloc of voters rather than impressing the nation with his performance. India has a majority government after a long hiatus, and its benefits must not be squandered away by failing to deliver on the election promises, especially that of "Achhe Din”
Dr Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, trying to keep the coalition partners in line, consisted of 32 cabinet ministers; 12 ministers of state with independent charge; and, 33 ministers of state making a total of 77. Modi, on the other hand, is enjoying a clear majority of seats in the Lok Sabha (denied to Dr Manmohan Singh), and has a cabinet of 28 cabinet ministers; 12 ministers of state with independent charge; and, 38 ministers of state, totalling 78.
Modi also promised he would regularly monitor the functioning of the ministers and there was supposed to be a time-bound programme to fulfill the commitments of BJP/RSS Combine to the voters.
Modi is doing the right thing by keeping his Ministers in check to accept only performance and zero-corrupt which he can afford as leader of majority. Media and opposition parties that are used to cacophony in UPA government are not able to face the reality that oft-repeated slogans of secularism and inclusivity are being forgotten by public much to their chagrin. Rahul has gone into hiding and his mother is in the business of defending her son-in-law and both forgot the issues of public interest. Their party has packed the Rajya Sabha with lawyers of obstructionist tactics for any legislative business like GST and other economic reforms. Congress should remember that people are watching their desperation of losing power so badly.

Modi's firm control over his cabinet essentially eliminated corruption. That is one thing he promised and seems to be fulfilling the promise. A refreshing change from daily broadcast of corruption charges during Congress rule.
