Raazi

Raazi (English: Agree) is an Indian period thriller film directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Vineet Jain, Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions. It features Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat which is said to be inspired from real events. It is about an Indian spy married to a Pakistani military officer (Vicky Kaushal) during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 on the order of her father (Rajit Kapur).
Raazi is based on a true story of a young girl, who was sent to Pakistan in 1971, to source out any information she could, as war was becoming imminent between India and Pakistan. It is the journey of an ordinary Indian girl, in extraordinary circumstances. The movie hurtles you back to the 1970s where India is on the brink of war with its neighbour Pakistan. Goodwill between the two countries is fast eroding, but Sehmat and Iqbal’s (Vicky Kaushal) matrimonial union is smooth, as their parents — Brigadier Syed (Shishir Sharma) and Hidayat Khan (Rajit Kapoor) — are thick friends who are convinced that their offsprings made a good match. It’s a cross-cultural arranged marriage laced with deception as its foundation. While Syed’s intentions are noble, Khan believes his daughter made a perfect fit as a covert operative and is willing to martyr her for India’s greater good. It is an extraordinarily grave situation, but Sehmat — played compellingly by the powerhouse talent Bhatt — plays along with wide-eyed patriotism. Her preparation to become an unassuming Indian spy is swiftly shown in the first half. Her relationship with her mentor Khalid (Jaideep Ahlawat) as she clumsily learns the ropes of being an amateur undercover agent is engaging. Her slow transformation from a college student to an assured spy is believable due to Bhatt’s cracking form. The thriller picks up pace and turns ominous and explosive once Sehmat enters the Pakistani household as an angelic-but-plucky bride. Based on selected portions of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, Bhatt is shown as a woman who is this waif-like bride with steely resolve. She is artfully manipulating all those around her. There are scenes in which she struggles to draw the line between personal and professional calls. The film never indulges in jingoism or chest-thumping patriotism. There are no provocative speeches or vilification of Pakistan unnecessarily, but just a bunch of complex individuals trying to grapple with an unusual situation around them. This film is also an intriguing snapshot of the futility and politics of war and a reminder of how unsuspecting humans are the worst-hit casualty in such battles. The second half of Raazi has soon-to-hit doom and gloom. There is dizzying, spiralling twists at the end.
The movie has Alia Bhatt as Sehmat, Vicky Kaushal as Iqbal Syed, Rajit Kapur as Hidayat, Shishir Sharma as Brigadier Syed, Jaideep Ahlawat as Khalid Mir, Ashwath Bhatt as Mehboob Syed, Amruta Khanvilkar as Munira and Soni Razdan as Teji.
The music and background score of the film is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy while the lyrics are penned by Gulzar. The songs featured in the film are sung by Arijit Singh, Harshdeep Kaur, Vibha Saraf, Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi Chauhan. The song "Ae Watan" also contains the lyrics of Allama Iqbal's dua "Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua". The film has songs like "Ae Watan" sung by Arijit Singh, "Dilbaro" by Harshdeep Kaur, Vibha Saraf, Shankar Mahadevan, "Raazi" by Arijit Singh and "Ae Watan (Female)" by Sunidhi Chauhan.

Hope Aur Hum

Hope Aur Hum is directed and written by Sudip Bandyopadhyay. The film is produced by Samira Bandopadhyay.
Set in present day, suburban city, 'Hope Aur Hum' is a simple, human story of a family. Nagesh (Naseerudin Shah) clings on to his youth with a space-consuming out-of-order photocopy machine. Once a state-of-the-art fine German engineering product, the machine now frequently visits the state of being 'out of order'. Nagesh claims to earn a living from it, but to anyone sane, it is obvious that he is just hoarding, calling it a memory. Everyone laughs at him, his family pesters him to get rid of it, but he wouldn't budge. Incidentally, the machine also raises space and room issues for his granddaughter Tanu. Nagesh's younger son Nitin (Naveen Kasturia) lives a comparatively lavish life in the city of gold aka Dubai and has a penchant for showing up uninformed. He finds a love interest under surprising consequences in a twist that is absolutely hilarious and leaves him sincerely baffled.
Simultaneously, Anurag (Kabir Sajid), Nagesh's grandson, a jovial and active kid who loves to play cricket is forced by destiny to visit his grandmother's house that is far from the city. There, he encounters an interesting series of events that he is rather secretive about. As things go topsy-turvy for him, his experience turns traumatic and his general behavior shifts dimensions. He loses interest in everything, including his favorite game, cricket. While this change in Anurag doesn't go unnoticed by the family, the secret doesn't see the light either. As the three different generations with three different journeys struggle to find peace within, our story progresses to reveal how each member of the family responds to change and how hope brightens up their 'hum'.
The film has Beena Banerjee as Nani, Aamir Bashir as Neeraj Srivastava, Neha Chauhan as Neha Chauhan, Sajid Kabir as Anurag Srivastava, Naveen Kasturia as Nitin Srivastava, Sonali Kulkarni as Aditi Srivastava, Pawan Mahendru, Naseeruddin Shah  as Nagesh Srivastava, Tina Sood as Tina Sood and Virti Vaghani         as Tanu Srivastava.
