Student of the Year 2

Student of the Year 2 is an Indian Hindi-language teen drama film written by Arshad Sayed and directed by Punit Malhotra. It is jointly produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner Dharma Productions and will be distributed by Fox Star Studios. A sequel to the 2012 film Student of the Year, it stars Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. The film follows a hardworking college student who must overcome his personal challenges and face his competitors to win the Student of the Year Cup.
Student of the Year 2 marks the film debut of both Sutaria and Panday. It pursues a plot that is unrelated to its predecessor. Principal photography for the film began in April 2018 at Dehradun. The film's soundtrack was composed by Vishal-Shekhar, with lyrics written by Anvita Dutt Guptan, Kumaar and Vayu, and released under the banner Zee Music Company.
At Saint Teresa's High School in Dehradun, a love triangle forms between Shreya, a rich girl, and Mia, an aspiring dancer. Their subject of attraction is Rohan, a new student at the college. The college competes against their other contemporaries in the 29th Annual Inter-College Dignity Cup. The most prized possession, the Student of the Year trophy, is desired by many, including Rohan. Manav, another popular boy in the college, challenges Rohan to fight for it.
Movie depicts as to how a college student faces down school bullies while competing in track and field. A gifted athlete and kabaddi player, Rohan`s life takes a turn when he gets accepted to the prestigious St. Teresa College on a sports scholarship. His dream of becoming the Student of the Year by winning the Inter College Dignity Cup seems closer than ever now. But with an extremely competitive reigning champion giving him hell and two beautiful girls vying for his attention, things are about to get a lot more complicated for Rohan.
Tiger Shroff is top of the class in ‘Student Of The Year 2. The glam squad returns with their share of elaborate break ups and petty contests. The Shroff is the alumnus of one of those typical colleges shown in Hindi films. Shroff plays the lead hero, Rohan.
The movie is all about brawn, beauty and brain. Shroff comes off as a modern-day Tarzan leaping off benches. What you see here is a fun school. It’s a school that you want everyone to be a part of. The students of ‘SOTY 2’ are highly desirable who wear their hearts on ridiculously expensive sleeves.
The movie has likeable new faces, brats, designer wardrobes owned by over-indulged students, silly intra-college dance contests and heartbreaks aplenty. In ‘SOTY 2’, the contest heats up when the students of St Teresa’s High School compete to win the inter-collegiate trophy called the Dignity Cup. Sounds trite? Shroff disagrees as he valiantly jumps to ‘SOTY’s’ defence.
Rohan is the classic underdog in this tale. He plays a normal happy-go-lucky guy who gets into a posh school from a poor sports-driven school on a scholarship. How does he adjust to a larger-than-life school is explored? How does go about the new, unfamiliar glossy world is what the movie is all about. Shroff. apart from acclimatising to a new swanky campus, he’s also the object of desire of two beautiful women — played by Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.
Tara plays the good-hearted, ambitious Mia who finds Rohan appealing. Ananya plays affluent Shreya who in one scene paints Rohan’s bike pink. There is Will Smith grooving on stage with girls in school uniforms.
Alia Bhatt, who became an overnight sensation after her turn in the original ‘SOTY’, shakes a leg with Shroff’s character Rohan in ‘SOTY 2’. Their fun number, called ‘The Hook-Up Song’, is fun and terrifically trite. Actor Aditya Seal also makes his debut as Manav. ‘SOTY 2’ takes a trip down the memory lane and recreates old hits of legends like RD Burman. The new instalment has Shroff dancing to ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
Thus the film has Tiger Shroff as Rohan Sehgal, Tara Sutaria as Mridula "Mia" Shankar, Ananya Panday as Shreya Sukhadia, Aditya Seal as Manav Mehra, Samir Soni, Abhishek Bajaj, Manoj Pahwa, Farida Jalal, Alia Bhatt (special appearance in "The Hook Up Song"), Harsh Beniwal as Puggi and Will Smith (special appearance in "The Jawaani Song").
The music of the film is composed by Vishal–Shekhar with lyrics written by Anvita Dutt Guptan, Kumaar and Vayu. It is released under the banner Zee Music Company. The film has "The Jawaani Song", "Mumbai Dilli Di Kudiyaan", "The Hook Up Song", "Fakira", "Main Bhi Nahin Soya" and "Jat Ludhiyane Da".
