Prachi Desai is busy shooting for her next movie Joker opposite Rajeev Khandelwal. Prachi is someone you would love to hang out with and have an engaging conversation over a coffee.
Prachi played a young, sweet and simple married girl in Rock On and followed it up with Life Partner where she was again a young married girl next door. She is a middle class girl next door in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Initially, when she got out of the television medium, she was worried of getting typecast in such roles. In fact, she consciously took on roles which were not very mature. She is 21 right now and was just 19 when she did Rock On. She didn't want to do any mature roles at this age. If she did that now, there will be nothing left to do tomorrow when she grows up. All actors want to experiment so that audiences do not get bored. However, each and every actor has to look at a specific genre, especially in the early years. That is what Prachi did for her first couple of films. But now, she feels, is the time to bring about that change. Through Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, she hopes to see a change in image because audience will get to know that she can be a lot different. The film turned out to be a fulfilling experience for her. As an actor, Prachi found the film extremely satisfying. Still, one can't be sure of audience reception because in Bollywood, due to the kind of career and job option that you have, the journey ahead is always so much uncertain. It is something today and altogether different tomorrow. You may have your own reasoning and still changes could be so drastic. You can just plan but it could all be of no use.
Prachi's fans wonder how Prachi agreed to do the passionate sequence with serial kisser Emraan Hashmi in Once Upon A Time…. since she was known to be averse to display of skin and moments of lip lock. Prachi feels provoked because people are making it out as a big scandal where there wasn't any actually. Actually, Milan Luthria was very clear about Prachi's role in the film. He knew that with this film, he would be changing the typical way of making gangster films. Prachi too was extremely sure of what she had to do in the film and carried no doubts about it. She didn't have to explicitly ask him or put down that whether she had to do any kissing scenes or not. She wasn't worried because she knew that wouldn't be the case. While Milan might have been flexible enough to allow Prachi to do things her own way or don the kind of outfit where she felt comfortable, not all filmmakers can be expected to be accommodating in a similar manner. In fact, some may even term this as interference. But Prachi is a director's actor and would never want to interfere with his vision. This is why she had never requested anything to be changed in the script of any of her films. In fact, for the Bobby sequence, Milan gave her and Emraan a month to prepare so that Emraan could get his six abs and she could be leaner. For your information, Bobby sequence is the one where Prachi had to get into Dimple Kapadia's outfit. Prachi knew about the Bobby sequence but she didn't have to ask anyone about the explicit details. She didn't have to worry about the length of the dress or how she would look on screen because she knew that Milan would bring the best out of her. She knew he wouldn't misuse the sequence for the sake of it. Otherwise she would have been caught in an earlier situation that she had faced for one of her films where all of a sudden she was told right on the sets that the next day she had to wear a particular outfit.
Just recently, Prachi's unintentional fashion faux pas had left her red-faced. At a promotional event for her latest film Once Upon A Time…. Prachi was spotted wearing a dress identical to one worn by Kareena Kapoor at the launch of a fashion store. Her embarrassment was compounded by the fact that she is extra cautious to never repeat something her contemporaries have donned. She picks her outfits cautiously, as she doesn't like repeating something that's already been worn by someone else. Her fans look up to her and she wants to look fresh every time they discuss her style statement.
Prachi faces a grave problem every time she visits a jewellery shop. She admits she has a fetish for ornaments like many other girls but she does not want to buy much. That's because she likes to wear minimal accessories when she is not working. She loves jewellery but she tries to keep minimal because she often has to end up wearing a lot of it for her job. So in personal life she keeps it minimal.
The success of Once Upon A Time… makes Prachi feel special because it was only her third flick and she was already getting critical acclaim from the critics all over for her powerful performance before such seasoned actors like Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut etc. Another reason for Prachi to feel happy was the visit to her own college in Pune where she had studied arts at one point of time. She was accompanied by Emraan Hashmi and the college crowd loved the couple on the campus. Ekta also arranged for a trip to Ajmer's dargah after the movie became successful at the box office.
Prachi, who has already won millions of hearts due to her cute looks and sweet smile in her most appreciated and hit film Once Upon A Time…, is the happiest actress today. Prachi and Emraan Hashmi were recently seen together at the opening of Sangam Big Cinemas at Andheri.
Thus Prachi is the actress to watch. After her fabulous performance in Once Upon A Time… she has managed to give all the other actresses of Bollywood sleepless nights. She has emerged as a powerful actress within a span of very short time. It is difficult to predict the height to which she will reach as an actress in Bollywood in the next couple of years. I personally won't be surprised if she manages to occupy top position among the heroines in Bollywood in the near future. She can do it if only she doesn't let this initial success go into her head and provided she moves on cautiously. I wish Prachi good luck in her attempt to occupy the throne of Queen of Bollywood.
