Rahul Bose is part of Vipul Shah's film Kucch Luv Jaisa, where he is paired opposite Vipul's wife Shefali Shah (the second time after 15 Park Avenue). However, Rahul hardly remembers about his last film with Shefali and feels Kucch Luv Jaisa is a fresh experience. The chemistry which he shared with Shefali in 15 Park Avenue is much different from Kucch Luv Jaisa. There are no traces of 15 Park Avenue in this film. The movie is female-centric and it is from Shefali's point of view and Rahul is just an add-on in the film. But Rahul makes clear that it's just a marketing strategy and nothing else. It is not out-and-out Shefali's film. Both have key roles. But to make the film appear more interesting Shefali's character is being publicized. Rahul had no qualms about it because he believed that the perception would change once the film got released.
In Kucch Luv Jaisaa, Rahul Bose plays Raghav, a small time criminal, who forges passport. Raghav believes that everything can be bought in this material world and it is full of corruption. One fine day he happens to meet the fun-loving housewife played by Shefali and spends some hours with her. It's this meeting which changes the belief system of both the characters. And eventually they come closer in those few hours.
Rahul, in fact, has played characters that every woman adores. And actor Rahul Bose loves that bit. Boys don't watch love stories. It is the women who drive the audience to such films. Guys don't mind accompanying them. That's the reason why Rahul loves doing films on relationships, which bring in the audience.
Each of Rahul's characters has struck a particular chord with the women audience. Be it his role in Mr & Mrs Iyer, where girls got thinking 'what if' and 'if only' or the complete jerk in Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and girls among the audiences have known such guys in their lives. Then his role in The Japanese Wife had all girls sighing 'I wish a guy loved me like that'. The reason is women love to share their emotions, men on the other hand prefer to act simple even though they're complicated.
According to Rahul Bose, men don't want to share their feelings or talk about emotional issues. He recently found out about a friend of his who has been living apart from his wife and kid because of his extra-marital affair. But yet he behaves as if his world is completely alright. That, according to Rahul, is the problem with men.
Bose is a part of Deepa Mehta's onscreen adaptation of Midnight's Children, Winds Of Change. This will be the biggest Indian film ever in history. It is going to be the first ever art-house film to have an opening weekend. This is something unheard of. This is only because the book was a bestseller in 42 countries. There's Shabana (Azmi), Seema (Biswas), Shahana (Goswami), Siddharth. There's also Ranvir (Shorey) and Vinay (Pathak) amongst others. Rahul plays this character called Zulfikar, a general. His wife in the film is this extremely talented actor called Anita Majumdar.
Bose also has two new films on hand. One is called Traveling with Mohammad, which is about the Hindu-Muslim divide. This film is directed by Arun Asthana and also stars Om Puri. Then there is Jeene Do, which is written and directed by Varun Malhotra. Rahul likes to work with writer-directors.
Rahul is just done with writing his script and will direct a film by early next year. He also has Moth Smoke, the script that has been lying around for a while. So, you'd either get to see that or Rahul's new script.
On early Sunday morning, supermodel and actor Milind Soman and actor Rahul Bose ran on city streets with a social message on their t-shirts. The run, 'Greenathon', is a campaign initiative by a television channel that began from the Centre from Environment Education (CEE) where activists and environment lovers among others were present. It was flagged off by noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai. Soman will run from Ahmedabad to Mumbai covering a distance of 580 kms. This run will culminate on June 5 in Mumbai on the World Environment Day. Rahul Bose will accompany Soman for few kilometers.
Rahul who doesn't like doing photoshoots, seemed to have no qualms at all about striking picture-perfect poses for the camera. He appeared to be completely at home in Ahmedabad, a city he often visits for professional and personal reason. He has been to Ahmedabad several times, but unfortunately hasn't done too much sightseeing there. He never had time for that. He found the city beautiful. He had gone for a run in the morning and the clear waters of Sabarmati made a soothing and pretty picture. He confesses that even though he is health conscious and is careful about what he eats, Gujarati food is something he looks forward to sampling whenever he is in the city. He loves the classic home made food. And he simply can't resist undhiyu.
Critically acclaimed actor Rahul Bose feels it is useless to create controversies prior to a film's release. Alas, he is a victim himself this time. News of him 'getting angry at Shefaali Shah for researching her role' in KLJ did disturb him. Rahul Bose and Shefali Shah didn't seem to get along very well on the sets of Kuch Love Jaisa. Interestingly, the duo purposely picked up fights with each other to get into the skin of the characters who quarrel throughout the film. However, the pretentions came true later when Rahul-Shefali indulged into big spats where Rahul would dislike Shefali over-pampering her kids. He hated the way Shefali would meet all the petty needs of her children like pizzas, chocolates on daily basis. He would get irritated with the fact that Shefali had spoilt her kids with over-pampering.
Rahul Bose was miffed with co star Shefali Shah and her producer husband Vipul Shah for projecting Shefali as the hero of the film in the promos of Kucch Luv Jaisaa. The actor was not happy with the fact. The actor was upset that though he was the male lead, his character was not treated as important as Shefali's. However, the matter is now resolved.
Rahul had garnered rave reviews for his superb performance in I Am. He is once again being appreciated in a big way for his performance in Kucch Luv Jaisa.
Thus with his brilliant performance in Kucch Luv Jaisa, Rahul Bose has once again lived up to his reputation as a class actor. Congrats, Rahul!
