NAVI MUMBAI: Mumbai nightlife has impressed Mayor of Navi Mumbai Sagar Naik and he intends to introduce similar scenario in Navi Mumbai too. He is flipped for the idea of keeping restaurants, eateries, medical stores and certain shops in certain areas open throughout the night. He is of the opinion that Navi Mumbai should not lag behind Mumbai in any department and that also includes nightlife.

Mayor has appointed some persons to make a study of few areas within Navi Mumbai which have the scope of being kept operated throughout the night.

Mayor Sagar Naik will soon be in talks with police and labour departments to discuss whether this dream of his is viable or not. The Mayor feels that once the idea of having nightlife is made to materialize, there shouldn’t arise any kind of problem in the future. He was particularly concerned about the safety of women, besides other residents of the city, which according to him should be given top priority.

When some policemen were questioned whether they approved of Mayor’s plan they didn’t seem to be happy and said that introduction of nightlife in Navi Mumbai will only add to their duties and stress. They said that they were already overburdened and were not very keen on having their duties made twenty four hours per day. They wouldn’t mind the introduction of nightlife provided the government added considerably to their staff so that the duties are reasonably divided among them. One of the policemen came forward with a good idea. He was of the opinion that private security men should be given the task in the place of policemen since that will save the policemen from being overstressed.

Mayor Naik fell for the idea of having a round-the-clock nightlife after he became aware of existence of such a scenario not only in some posh cities in India but also abroad. He also felt that Navi Mumbai had become a kind of tourist spot since many tourists chose the city to visit and even enjoy short stays over here. Mayor Naik was looking far into the future when the city would have international airport, metro rail link etc. He also felt that there would be more generation of revenue once the 24 hours nightlife was introduced.

A resident from Nerul who time and again visits Mumbai to enjoy nightlife over there was pleased by the idea of nightlife being introduced in Navi Mumbai. He was happy that he wouldn’t have to go all the way to Mumbai to experience nightlife if there was such a scenario present just in his neighbourhood. When  asked about his impression of Mumbai nightlife he said, “In Mumbai itself, at some places, the Nightclubs are in full swing. There is no dearth of nightclubs, pubs and bars in Mumbai. As it competes with the rest of the world in terms of being one of the most happening cities, it is doing its best by housing some elite hotels, internationally famous lounge bars and many other establishments which can push it up the ladder of international oomph. The nightlife of Mumbai is one of the best in the country. Many tourists from all around the globe spend quite some time at the nightclubs, bars and pubs here. Each of them has a uniqueness of its own. You can experience a totally different Mumbai when you get involved in its nightlife. Many nationally and internationally famous DJs, bands and celebrities come here and perform. And as they make plans to come to Mumbai, the city gears up to put up a grand show for their welcome. With hordes of tourists streaming in from different parts of the world, the nightclubs of Mumbai are constantly upgrading their facilities and standards.

A Vashi resident was all excited by the idea of nightlife being introduced in Navi Mumbai since he personally is a globe trotter and has come across nightlife in important cities of foreign countries. He said, “Navi Mumbai should have nightlife like they have in foreign countries.
