The top party has become a
flop party
The Congress
failed to win even a single seat in the
Assembly elections in Delhi. This could be because of the resistance within the
party. The resistance comes from those younger leaders who do not see a future
for themselves under the leadership
of heir apparent Rahul Gandhi who has been installed as party president. An overwhelming majority in the party
believes he does not have what it takes: he has neither demonstrated the
ability to sustain an idea or the hard work demanded of a full-time politician
in a leadership role. There are now open whispers in party circles of a possible
split in the party should Gandhi be elevated.
Until the 'Gandhi'
family vacate their seats at the head of the table and allow the introduction
of fresh young leaders, as well as change their policies from
'Pseudo-Secularism' to nationalistic and developmental ones, the slide of the
Congress/UPA will continue. People have realised that they cannot be fooled by
the Gandhi name anymore. People want real improvements in their lives, both
economically and environmentally as well as the eradication of corruption.
The popular
perception of Congress today is that it is steeped in corruption, suffers from
leadership crisis and no longer serious about national security issues. They
must first acknowledge that this is their image and take ruthless action to
weed out the corrupt and incompetent whoever it may be – may it be even Gandhi
family. Till then there is no hope.
The Congress of
the Mahatma is not the Congress of today. There is no need to feel any sympathy
to this scam-ridden minority-appeasing colonial dynastic shame and think about
ways to revive it. The Congress is decimated for good.
On a deeper look,
we can see that people have rejected not only Congress but almost all
tradtional political outfits, CPM, CPI, DMK, NCP, BSP, SP, JD and now BJP.
People have realized all these parties and their leaders have secret agenda of
their own which are inconsistent with the needs, aspirations and sensitivities
of common man. It is not only the people but the party cadres who have also lost
faith in their leaders. The present crisis is of credibility deficit of Indian
political leaders, that is there exists a leadership vacuum. We need Men
like Kejriwal in every State. Do we have them?
Well the
"figure zero" was certainly unexpected from a party who were the
champions of the Indian National Movement during the days of British India. The
party has lost its sheen after the demise of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Congress is
digging its own grave by obstinately insisting on having Gandhi family as its
leader. This family is a flop leader and this has been proven by the defeat of
Congress in probably every election it has undertaken under Gandhi family’s
leadership.
