Modi is better than former Indian
PMs
Prime Minister
Narendra Modi always wanted to offer much more than a concrete programme of
action; he wanted to present a vision of the future, a vision of India taking
its place as an economic superpower in the first world.
As a party,
Bharatiya Janata Party has the potential to bring about a change and certainly Modi
is a better prime minister than the former prime-ministers of our country. So there
is good hope for the future even though the progress is very slow.
The comparison has
been between the election promises and the performance on the ground, which is
not a fair comparison. Electioneering involves lot of rhetoric and what is said
in the election heat should be taken with a pinch of salt. That way, slogans
like Garibi Hatao were coined decades ago and we know what is the plight of the
Garib in India today. If the analysis were to be based on the shift in the
approach from the previous dispensation, lot of positives would have become
evident and the course on which the current government has embarked itself
would have given a true measure of its achievements / its potential to achieve
more in future. According to my understanding, the present government is
putting in untiring efforts with a sincerity of purpose and with lot of
integrity and commitment. When the approach is aggressive, which is warranted,
there is bound to be a need for course correction and even for retracing
certain steps.
The Congress was
in power at the Center for most of the time since 1947 and it is mainly
responsible for the mess that India finds itself in now. Yet, there are many
who expect the Modi Government to clear all the mess and the corruption of the
past decades in one year. It is
surprising that people expected the policies of Make in India and smart cities
to yield results within one year. Creation of congenial atmosphere is needed
and it is understood that steps are initiated in the direction.
A section of the Media
is working hard to bring back Congress rule, so that the scams and robberies
like 2G, Coalgate, etc., can continue. Of course, on the scam front, Modi will
score zero mark. On honesty, which some appear to be least bothered about, Modi
will score 100 percent from people of this country. The biggest, number one
concern of the voters, when the country went to elections last year was to
bring an end to the mega corruption that was going on. Modi has certainly
achieved that, and brought transparency, and restored people faith in the
system.
