Residents of Kamothe
complain about water scarcity
Cidco fails to take proper
action

NAVI MUMBAI:
In spite of constant complaints made by Kamothe residents about water scarcity
in their area, no proper action is being taken in this direction by Cidco owing
to which these residents have to find different methods to fulfill their water
need. The water provided to Kamothe is much less than the water required by the
residents of this node. Even places like Kharghar, Dronagiri, Kalamboli, New
Panvel and Ulwe are tremendously affected by water scarcity but the plight of
residents of Kamothe is the worst.
A Cidco official said that the water problem in these
areas arise owing to more and more people migrating into these areas from
outside. But a resident of Kamothe blamed the poor planning by Cidco which was
causing this problem. The water problem in this area was less before Cidco
handed over Morbe dam to NMMC. But after the handing over of the dam, it is the
residents of Kamothe who have to face the major problem.
Both, Cidco authorities and local political leaders, keep
on making big promises about solving the water problems of the local but when it
comes to implementing those promises both of them prove to be failures.
One reason for the water problem is the faulty planning
by Cidco and yet another reason is the less rain that fell this year. These are
the two main reasons why residents of Kamothe are found struggling for water.
Cidco authorities are working out a blue print to make enough
water available to Kamothe and other places in the city which are hit by water
scarcity. “We realize the need to solve this water problem urgently and we are
doing our best,” said an engineer working in Cidco.
