Yawning gap between promises and performance

The Labour Bureau has compiled statistics for job creation. The latest figures show that 1.35 lakh jobs were created in 2015, the lowest figure by far of any year since then. The latest job creation figures come as a sobering reality check for the NDA government, as increasing employment opportunities has been at the heart of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic plan.

A report outlining the NDA’s vision, Transforming India, released by the Department of Administrative Reforms last month, says 175 million new jobs could be created by 2032 if the economy grows by 10 per cent annually; the figure is 115 million if it grows by 7 per cent.

The said scenario is undoubtedly disturbing yet optimism can be expected through coupled effort of government and private players for the job seekers. With foreign investment being encouraged and regulations moderated for investment in India, a positive inclination in job creation is all set to improve the statistics. Government and people should collaborate and make a plan to curb this sky rocketing unemployment.

About 1 crore Indians enter the workforce annually. One of the measures suggested to meet this vital livelihood need is the "embedding of job generation in the massive infrastructure upgrade" projects. But, where does one find money to scale up the infrastructure? India's "direct tax revenue base is too narrow" to "scale up social & infrastructure investments",

The current Government has made efforts to improve India's standing in the World with many schemes, like 'Make In India' etc etc. This will take time to be realised. Unemployment is unfortunately prevalent all over the World. All the current Indian Government can do is have the right Economic policies in place and help its workforce with training and friendly financial policies in order to realise the Utopia of full employment.

Though the need of the hour is enough job creation, it could only be possible when the ruling party's vision of "make in India" fructifies. We should not expect the jobs pouring at our disposal any time soon. First we should win major breakthrough in winning the deals for the manufacturing to be done in India. As we are witnessing the rising labor cost in China, many companies are shifting its base to a much feasible destination. India has the golden opportunity.

Statistics shows the hollowness of the ruling party and its policies. There has been a yawning gap between promises and performance. But the BJP is more proactive than any previous Governments. They are trying to 'kick-start' various schemes to benefit India and Indians.

But the problem with any Indian government is that it does not have the political will to collect more direct tax from the tycoons - because these oligarchs largely fund the election of its candidates. What we have is nothing but black money democracy.

Over 3000 attend Mothers Day program organized by Heart

NERUL: On the occasion of Mothers Day on 8th May, Heart Foundation through its ‘STREE’ (Smash Tradition, Rehabilitate, Educate and Empower) initiative organized a musical extravaganza at Wonders Park, Nerul from 6 to 9 pm where over 3300 people came to watch the show. The programme titled ‘Gaata Rahe Mera Dil- Ek Shaam Stree Ke Naam’ (GRMD) happened to be the first of its kind with live musical evening by MH 43 India (Retro Bollywood Rock Band) and Soul (Sufi Rock Band). The bands took the full capacity crowd down the memory lane with some of the hit Bollywood retro songs with a blend of modern music.

The other attractions of the evening were Fashion show by ‘Zameeni’ (an exclusive collection of sarees, kurtis, dupattas - straight from weavers to consumers); where the models were mostly moms, a nukkad play and dance performances by BEATS Dance Academy.

“The programme was a huge success not because of the crowd but because of the way the crowd enjoyed especially the moms. Our motto and desire to help them realize their potential, empower, educate and motivate them was fulfilled and every woman went home satisfied. We were able to give platform to many women and young girls who had the desire to sing and dance in front of live audience but had never been recognised” said Dr. Jayakar Ellis, President, Heart Foundation.

“It was heartening to see that many youngsters came forward with a desire to perform but because of time constraints it was not possible to accommodate them this time, but we would be soon organizing another such program. GRMD would not have been possible without the help of G3 Motors, Zameeni, Stem Rx, Royal Tulip Hotel, Housejoy & Surabhi Hospital, Nasik” he added.

“I came for the program with my wife and was surprised when I was asked a few questions and when I told Dr. Ellis that we were married for 27 years, he promptly gave us a Stay Voucher for two of us at Royal Tulip Hotel, Kharghar” said Mr. Iqbal with tears of joy in his eyes.

“It’s the least we could do for the Moms on Mothers day as they are the actual people who are very rarely rewarded for their contribution to the family and mankind” said Mr. Nabendu Acharjee, GM, Royal Tulip Hotel, Kharghar.

“We were glad to be a part of an initiative for the mothers of Navi Mumbai taken by STREE and we were able to communicate to the people about how "LIFE IS DIVINE" and NATURE provides "Natural kits of self repair" in our body "MASTER CELLs" scientifically known as "STEM CELLs"” said Dr. Pradeep Mahajan, Stem Rx.

“I am thankful to STREE for having invited me and honored the Navi Mumbai Traffic department for their contribution towards the women at large” said Arvind Salve, deputy commissioner of police (Traffic).

“We were happy to be a part of GRMD and it was nice of STREE to honor the tireless work of the Women Assistance Cell and also honor me for my work” said Sangeeta Alphonso, who recently took charge of the cell. “I am glad our work was recognized and we were honored for our contribution to the society” said Jyoti Gaikwad, API, Women Asst. Employees display their power to Govt

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya refused to enforce a rule that the employees should be made to empty their provident fund accounts before they turn 58 years old. Earlier, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley withdrew two paragraphs of his Budget with a provision to tax three-fifths of employee PF accumulations at the time of retirement in the face of a widespread political backlash. It first tried to buy peace with a three-month deferral and relaxations to allow employees access to their entire EPF balance for the marriage of children, the purchase of a house, enrolment in an educational course, and switch to a government job.

The Centre’s rationale — ensuring people don’t fritter away their PF savings during their working life — is good in theory. But people often withdraw EPF balances when they change jobs, simply because transfers are not handled smoothly at the PF office.

The present employment market is different from earlier period. There is no job security because of innovations and keen competition. What is in fashion today is thrown to the dustbin next day. Job attrition is on higher scale even in Information Sector. Automation is usurping most of the routine work as is occurring in companies like Infosys and others. We are already aware of the pitiable state of affairs of the traditional sector. Hence the necessity of the early withdrawal use of the terminal benefits and other mandatory contributory scheme. Hence it is better not to tamper with the established schemes which are in force for decades. Hence a deeper and logical analysis should have been undertaken before rewriting EPF Schemes etc. Hope the concerned authorities have learnt the lesson of being careful henceforth onwards.

Rather than focussing all his energies on enhancing the tax base and recovering the recoverable tax and loan arrears on a war footing Jaitley too is following the tried and tested path i.e. screwing up the salaried labour class which presents the minimum risk for any FM and then back track when the resultant problem almost swallows the govt.

The characteristic of the present government is ‘we know what’s best for the people’. But it does not know what the Indian ethos say about planning for retirement. Taking responsibility for older people is the thing that is called for.

It is a pity that the Government woke up to a change in the EPFO rules after a senseless, violent protest causing damage to property and injury to persons.

The turn-around of the government is a win for the power of employees. The governments over the years have been burdening the poor with taxation while the rich are being set off scot- free. The Congress government faced flak when it introduced a penalty on withdrawing specified amount from Bank. All these governments protect Mallyas and mutilate poor.

We request all the residents to come in large number and pay tribute to the women. There would be over 75 gifts to be given to the lucky mothers on that day and it has been possible with the help of G3 Motors, Stem Rx, Royal Tulip Hotel, Housejoy & Surabhi Hospital, Nasik” said Dr. Jayakar Ellis, President, Heart Foundation.

“This is the second event in two months first being Heart 2016 for the youth where thousands of youth witnessed a three day event and now GRMD for the Moms. As a youth it is the least I can do for my Mom through this program and appeal to all the youth to bring their Moms for this unique event,” said Keyoor Karadkhedkar, who heads the music division of the Foundation – BEATS (Bringing Entertainment and Team Spirit) and the lead singer of MH 43 India.

India needs the help of US to tackle Pakistan

The meeting between the Indian and Pakistani Foreign Secretaries in Delhi served as a reality check on the stalemate in the bilateral dialogue. India raised its concerns about Pathankot, the 26/11 investigation, and consular access to alleged spy Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan brought up alleged Indian interference in Balochistan and its concerns about investigations in the Samjhauta Express blast. Both statements clearly aimed at their respective domestic audiences.

The meeting in Ufa between the two Prime Ministers, PM Narendra Modi’s unscheduled Christmas Day visit to Lahore, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s December visit to Islamabad as well as the sustained contact between the National Security Advisers had earlier given an impression of momentum towards a historic summit in November 2016.

Unless and until India builds herself to a bargaining position with the US, Pakistan is not going to stop itching India. It is playing a second fiddle to any nations like the US, China etc. just to trouble India. It has no system of Governance, no democratic or any 'type' of Constitution with modern, scientific ideology and vision. It is an 'adda' of a motley bunch of self-seekers and war-mongers.

Everyone should remember that the very existence if Pakistan is based on anti-India platform. So, it is waste of time if we Indians desire to have comprehensive dialogue for long term peace and harmony. The Pak authorities will not wish for long term peace and harmony which is self defeating as far Pakistan's very existence is concerned.

Pakistan is not a 'normal' nation-state. It has never been and will never be. It was created for selfish strategic reasons of Britain, and it was then 'handed over' to the US as British power waned. The shrewd Chinese stepped in as they understood Pakistan for what it really was, namely a piece of real-estate run as a 'business enterprise' by a coterie, rather than as a nation-state. If the original founders of Pakistan such as Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Raja of Mahmudabad et al were driven by their super-sized ego and used religion as a card to achieve their goal while subserving their British masters, today's leaders run it as an 'enterprise' where jihadi terrorism supported by the 'sarkar' is the watchword, where criminals from far and near ply their trade and the state itself survives on blackmailing the world.

Leadership of both the states are smart enough to keep their respective publics busy to divert their attention from them to keep their failures to deliver the goods

Resolution of dispute between India-Pakistan will require a different approach because of uniqueness and complexity of the pending issue.

Traffic is a 2016 Hindi thriller film directed by Rajesh Pillai. It is a remake of the 2011 Malayalam film of same name. Originally written by brothers Bobby and Sanjay, the film's screenplay has been adapted into Hindi by Suresh Nair, while the dialogues were penned by Piyush Mishra. Zorawar

Zorawar is a Punjabi action film featuring Yo Yo Honey Singh in the titular character, alongside actresses Gurbani Judge and Parul Gulati. Filmed mostly in Durban, it is directed by Vinnil Markan.

The movie narrates the story of the emotional journey of a young Indian Special Agent Zorawar Singh (Honey Singh) and his search for his long-lost father. Once thought to be dead, Zorawar traces his father to Durban and flies into the city to try and resolve the mystery.

The film has Yo Yo Honey Singh as Special Agent Zorawar Singh and Gurbani Judge as Zoya.

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War is a 2016 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Captain America, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the thirteenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
