Are Muslim countries secular like India?
When the elections come close our politicians start chasing for votes. There is no political party which does not practice vote bank politics. Some parties will even go to any extent to get votes even if it means going against the party’s ideology.
Every party feels that to win any election they need to appease Muslim community and they will even go out of the way to win the goodwill of Muslims. Pre-elections also witness clashes between growing westernization and the conservative fascist ideology.
It is true that conditions of some Muslims in India are pathetic. Some sections of Muslim minority are even more deprived than the Dalits, and Muslim representation in bureaucracy is just 2.5 %, whereas, the Muslim population is 14 % of the Indian population. So there is a need to show sympathies to Muslims in India.
Only during the elections every party will try to prove that it is secular in nature by wooing the Muslims in particular. But is there any political party in India which is genuinely secular? Being secular is to treat everyone equal before the law, take strong action against anti national forces, and make genuine attempts to improve the social and economic conditions of all people together regardless of the religion. Instead of giving subsidies for religious pilgrimages, support should be given to all needy to improve the education levels. Now which political party in India actually practices all the above rules of secularism?
Indian Muslims by and large are relatively safe despite hawks in Bharatiya Janata Party, due to the sanity and catholicity of outlook from majority Hindu Brothers who do not have prejudice or bigotry towards law abiding Muslims. Successive Lok Sabha and State elections have taught Muslims whom not to vote for.

But are the Hindus in many Muslim countries given the kind of secular treatment that Muslims in India get?
