The Panvel RTO team carried out an extensive drive against erring auto drivers.
They scored a century in the matter of penalizing the auto drivers. Yes, around
100 auto drivers were penalized and that too in a matter of a single month.
The auto drivers who were penalized were those without an
electronic meter, defunct meter, rigged meter and some without valid documents
and others for violating other rules. Panvel RTO Arun Yeola deserves all the credit
for carrying out such a drive which brought the auto drivers in Panvel under
control to a great extent, if not totally.
The drive was well strategized. The officers were
positioned at different auto stands from morning to night. Yeola had received a
huge number of complaints from auto passengers who found the attitudes of auto
drivers not proper. He did conduct probe against such drivers and those found
guilty had their licences suspended. For the benefit of auto passengers he had
even got the railway officials to divide the space outside railway stations for
taxis, share-autos and pre-paid autos. The auto passengers had appreciated this
move by Yeola.
Yeola
got the RTO inspectors posted near railway stations at Panvel, Kamothe and
Khandeshwar and got them to fine both the auto-drivers and auto-owners the
moment they were found violating the rules. This way, Yeola managed to win the
hearts of auto passengers who find the behaviors of auto drivers more pleasant.
