Traffic policemen feel harassed by minors
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: The traffic police of Navi Mumbai, in the recent times, had found many minors riding bikes without a proper licence. These minors were found standing on the nerves of the traffic policemen to such an extent that the police authorities of the traffic department had to carry out a special drive to prevent these minors from violating the traffic rules. They have even gone to the extent of visiting one school after another, all over Navi Mumbai, to counsel students in order to get them to respect and abide by traffic rules.
These policemen even seized the mo-bikes of those minors who were found without a licence or proper document. As a moral duty, they even called their parents to the police station to get them to control their minor children. The parents were even made to pay fines as per the law.

A traffic policeman said, “There is more need to counsel the parents of these erring minors rather than counsel their children. These parents are supposed to keep track of what their children are doing outside the home. If the faults of these minors are ignored now, these children when they grow up will go on to commit bigger crimes and violate more serious laws. Even the school authorities should cooperate by passing on to the students the lessons on how to respect and abide by traffic rules. Cooperation by both parents and school authorities will reduce the headache of traffic policemen considerably as there will be less minor offenders for them to tackle.”
