Deep Water Horizon

Deepwater Horizon is a 2016 American biopic disaster film directed by Peter Berg, written by Matthew Sand and Matthew Michael Carnahan, and starring an ensemble cast including Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O'Brien and Kate Hudson. It is based on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. This film honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever. Mark Wahlberg headlines as Mike Williams, the chief electronics contractor on the rig whose brawn and positive thinking saved the lives of all but 11 of the 126 people on board. An aging Kurt Russell plays the offshore installation manager, Mr. Jimmy, and John Malkovich plays one of the arrogant, cost-conscious BP executives so worried about being 47 days behind schedule that he demands safety shortcuts, putting the entire crew in harm’s way. Gina Rodriguez is effective as the only woman onboard, and Kate Hudson makes brief appearances from time to time as Wahlberg’s nervous wife, pacing the floor back home in front of the television while she waits to see if he’s still alive. In cliché style, the movie shows the crew preparing for work on the day that could be their last (kids acting cute, cars that don’t start), follows them on the ill-fated drilling platform and down below while they drink coffee and argue about things like negative pressure tests and suspicious methane in the pipes. Then, control-panel gauges going wild, panic and screams of “Mayday!”

The film has Mark Wahlberg as Michael 'Mike' Williams, Kurt Russell as James "Mr. Jimmy" Harrell, John Malkovich as Donald Vidrine, Gina Rodriguez as Andrea Fleytas, Dylan O'Brien as Caleb Holloway, Kate Hudson as Felicia Williams, Ethan Suplee as Jason Anderson, Stella Allen as Sydney Williams, Joe Chrest as David Sims, Henry Frost as Shane Roshto, Jeremy Sande as Adam Weise, Brad Leland as Robert Kaluza, J. D. Evermore as Dewey Revette, Robert Walker Branchaud as Doug Brown, James DuMont as Patrick O'Bryan, Garrett Hines as Wyman Wheeler, David Maldonado as Captain Curt Kuchta, Jason Kirkpatrick as Aaron Dale Burkeen and Trace Adkins as Grieving father in hotel.
