Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Patriotism towards one’s country is a MUST' that was published in Newsband

Patriotism towards one’s country is a MUST
Everyone should be a patriot. Patriotism should be harboured within and not just be articulated frequently and demonstrated publicly. The Supreme Court’s order that every cinema hall should play the national anthem before the exhibition of a film has come at an appropriate time when many Indians have forgotten what patriotism is.
Cinema halls were required to play the national anthem some decades ago, a practice that has been largely given up. Playing the national anthem should be extended to dance and music recitals as well and to every sitting of the legislature, or the court itself.
The Supreme Court judgment on the anthem seems to have been delivered with a good motive of fostering patriotism in citizens in consonance with the fundamental duties. In fact, the values of nationalism and patriotism should be inculcated from childhood. Patriotism should be taught in home, schools and colleges. The country can become great only if its citizens are proud of it. Real patriotism is corruption free politicians /officials in this country and also people should discourage corrupt practices.
Theatres seems most convenient place for reinstating sense of patriotism in our nationals. In the times when soldiers are dying in greater number each day at and inside borders, deeper feeling in the hearts of all of us for all those who are fighting for decades and giving up lives must originate, National Anthem seems to be the best way to us and to judiciary. There is a definite need to instill patriotism and respect for national symbols by diktat.
A man renounces his selfishness by seeing or experiencing the help showered upon by someone by somebody. Likewise patriotism would go down in our blood through experience or learning too and in addition to a national anthem enforced at an entertainment public place.

It is the duty of every citizen to respect symbols of National Unity Anthem and Unity. The same Indians when they go out of Motherland follow rules to the hilt. When citizens forget their duties towards Motherland somebody should call their attention. When Kids forget their parents somebody should remind them of their duties. Spending/ standing for less than ONE minute (52 seconds) is no big deal for the country which gave us IDENTITY and oneness.
