Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'White, Yellow, Brown and Black Races should unite' that was published in Newsband

White, Yellow, Brown and Black Races should unite
Is it hypocritical of India to say attacks on Africans were not racist? There has been repeated cases of Africans being assaulted by Indians. It is high time the government took measures to stop such attacks.
The Africans call such repeated attacks as “xenophobic and racial” in nature. Indian officialdoms insist that such attacks are not racist. According to Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, these “were not any kind of racial attacks” but “spontaneous” and “criminal.”
Are such assaults motivated by an African’s physical appearance? The fact is that any person of black origin who lives in India faces verbal abuse, social ostracisation, and discrimination in such issues as housing.
New Delhi is quick to declare attacks on people of Indian origin in the West as racist. What when such things happen in our own country.
These attacks can also be attributed to the failure of policing. Few Africans are involved in various illegal activities like drug smuggling and cheating innocent people in the name of lotteries etc. It is the duty of civilized Africans to report about illegal activities of their fellows from that continent. Quick and exemplary punishment needs to be meted out to the miscreants.
Is there no colour prejudice in India? The popularity of "Fair & Lovely" type creams tells clearly how much at least North Indians detest dark complexions. North Indians think they are white people in India and treat all dark skinned people very poorly and with total disrespect. However, when the same North Indian goes to Australia or US, he gets brandished as brown skinned and is attacked. A natural equilibrium is thus maintained in the ecosystem. A white shoots a yellow, who shoots a brown, who in turn shoots a black.
A black person finding a house in any of our big cities will not get it anywhere simply because of his color. The same landlord will jump to allow a white person inside his house. Even though we are colored, we discriminate based on our own color so many times, an Indian from the North East is ignorantly termed as Chinese, dark skinned South Indians are termed 'Madrasis' by so many ignorant people from the North (No one bothers to clarify to then that not all South Indians are 'Madrasis'). The sale of fairness creams in this country is enough to prove this point.
Race might not be an issue. It’s just the color that discriminates. The survey from 2013 lists India as World's "most racist" nation on earth.
We have in our country plethora of castes, sub castes, discrimination by way of reservations. Hard to find another country on this planet that can equal India when it comes to this issue. Almost inevitably, dark skinned Indians are either lowly placed (even the villains of Indian movies are all almost black in colour) or 'scheduled' groups.
No dark skinned Indian will ever hold a position of importance in the whole of India - we are now talking of corporate ladder, social strata. Would Smith, Obama, Mohamad Ali, Usain Bolt, Viv Richards - to name a few - have achieved greatness in India?
Why don't we accept the fault in our society for what it really is - a dirty, dark desire to discriminate and discriminate between various groups of people? Be it language or color or caste or whatever else you want to add. We discriminate based on just looking at the other person. Color plays a big factor in this, most of the times we don't understand the race at all. Its just too black, and too fair, and too Chinese and blah blah blah.....

Keep grouping and compartmentalizing things in this fashion and India will never be united the way it should be. It is high time that White, Yellow, Brown and Black Races united and respected each other.
