Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Don’t tolerate law breakers' that was published in Newsband

Don’t tolerate law breakers
Nobody has the right to take the law into his own hands. The incidents of lynching and assault by cow vigilantes have gone up. It highlights the gravity of the situation. A zero tolerance policy needs to be adopted towards lynching. If Modi is sincere about not ruining all the good work done, he needs to act fast and come down very severely on those who take law into their hands.
These are social issues that should better be left to local administrations to handle. They have different connotations at different places. PM’s single statement should suffice to inform the public about the nation's policy. Violence as such must be stopped with firm hand by the law enforcing agencies without any discrimination or favour.

Hate crimes like Junaid Khan’s murder and so also of Nirbhaya should be condemned. Such incidents brought decent people out on to the streets in dignified protest. we don't need to read the constitution to know what is right and what is wrong, what are the common rights and protections and decencies to which all Indians - even foreigners passing through - are entitled to as a matter of course. Prime Minister's statesman like admonition is appreciated by all the right thinking people. It is the primary duty of Chief Ministers to ensure that there are no more unfortunate demises.
