Badla

Badla (transl.Revenge) is an Indian Hindi crime thriller film directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Azure Entertainment.
Movie Badla has an interesting story. A lawyer investigates further into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a young man. Sujoy Ghosh is opening the Indian audience to the vast world of mystery-thriller films and promises to keep them on the edge of their seat with fast-paced action and a gripping storyline in Badla. This film, starring Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan, appears to be a whodunit, set in foreign land. The movie has Naina (Taapsee) seeking Badal Gupta’s help (Amitabh), a specialist investigator-advocate, in a botched-up case she insists is a means to take revenge against her. Naina is under house arrest following a murder and has a tracker tied to her ankle, taking care of the fact that she does not go anywhere she is not supposed to be. Doing his job, Badal puts her at ease and lets her take the lead in preparing a testimony. Secrets start to unravel and we learn that Naina is having an extra marital affair with Arjun (Tony Luke). Lies are laid bare by Badal who wants to get to the bottom of the tale, all aspects considered. At certain stage in the movie, Badal makes it clear to Naina that he is not someone who is easily swayed by words that come out of an innocent-looking face. Rather, he measures the truth to its merit, using his own judgement and merit. Will he arrive at the bottom of the mystery that is Badla? Or as Naina claims, she will suffer the fall for a crime she did not commit. There is a scene at a later stage in which a car gets submerged under water. The story, in fact, revolves around how Taapsee’s character was cheating on her husband, and supposedly she and her lover get attacked while in their hotel room. The lover gets murdered and Taapsee’s character gets arrested or put under house arrest and then Amitabh Bachchan’s character comes into picture. The story appears to have been inspired by the Spanish film The Invisible Guest. To narrate the story in short, a young dynamic entrepreneur finds herself in a locked hotel room next to the body of her dead lover and so she hires a prestigious lawyer to defend her, and over the course of one evening, they work together to find out what actually happened.
The movie has Amitabh Bachchan as Badal Gupta, Taapsee Pannu as Naina Sethi, Amrita Singh as Naina Sethi's mother and Tony Luke.
The music of the film is composed by Amaal Mallik, Anupam Roy and Clinton Cerejo while the lyrics are penned by Kumaar, A. M. Turaz, Siddhant Kaushal, Manoj Yadav, Anupam Roy and Jizzy. Amitabh Bachchan gets inspired by Ranveer Singh's movie Gully Boy, raps a song named "Aukaat" for Badla. The movie has songs like "Kyun Rabba", "Aukaat", "Tum Na Aaye", "Badla" and "Kyun Rabba" (Acoustic) Kumaar.
