NMMC
earns a fantastic sum from election banners

NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai
Municipal Corporation had a great time during the last few days of election
campaigning. NMMC authorities did receive various phone calls about the illegal
hoardings put up by certain politicians in the city. But the best thing was the
legal hoardings or those banners put up after acquiring permission from NMMC
fetched the Corporation a fantastic revenue. NMMC earned close to ten lakh
rupees just from these legal hoardings or banners.
So the last few days
were great moments for NMMC which was busy collecting the fees from those
politicians whom they had granted permission to put up their hoardings or
banners. The NMMC authorities, this time, also promptly took action against
those who put up illegal hoardings just to ensure that maximum politicians approached
them, took their permissions, put up their hoardings and promptly paid the fees
that they were charged for displaying the banners. This tactics adopted by NMMC
authorities did pay dividends and the corporation managed to amass a fantastic
revenue out of the hoardings they allowed to display.
The politicians from all
areas, whether they belonged to Belapur or Airoli constituencies, chose to approach
NMMC for permission to put up their election hoardings. Not only that they
promptly paid the fees they were charged. The revenue flowed into the coffers
of NMMC from Belapur, Airoli, Turbhe, Digha and other places and the final
result was something that brought smiles on the faces of NMMC authorities. Thus
from monetary angle, NMMC had a gala time during the 2014 Assembly elections held
in Navi Mumbai.
