Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'India will benefit if Hillary Clinton becomes US President' that was published in Newsband
India will
benefit if Hillary Clinton becomes US President
Hillary Clinton
has been nominated by Democratic Party as its
candidate for the U.S. presidential
election. This is a moment of pride for both the Democratic Party and Ms.
Clinton. This is the first time a major American party is nominating a woman as
a presidential candidate. Historical day for America as the Democratic Party
has nominated a women candidate for the presidential race. It shows in
developed country, it has taken over 200 years a women to become a candidate.
What people
like about Ms. Clinton is that she “understands” the concerns of the working
people and the need to invest more in education. Ms. Clinton has overcome a major hurdle in the presidential race. She
is in a better position to win than her adversary. Ms. Clinton appears to have
the edge over Mr. Trump. She got the most number of votes in the primaries. She
is in a better position to win women and minority votes than Mr. Trump. Ms. Clinton represents a more inclusive,
democratic and efficient America. Everybody
believes Ms Clinton is the lesser evil than Trump. Hence Ms. Clinton stands a
fair chance to become the first woman president of the U.S.
America needs
iron hands to deal with terrorism. At this juncture the USA requires someone
with experience in Government. Hillary has it. If elected, she has to build
consensus on major issues. The top rich have to be persuaded to be more
realistic. The rich are too rich and cannot contribute to mass consumption nor
to build industry. The professionals are not getting their reward adequately.
There is greater scope for improving the incomes of people at middle and lower
levels. Working women require support. The weaker sections of the population
require much greater attention. Greater immigration is required to balance the
human resources as part of globalization. Start-ups require special attention.
The developed world would have to borrow some of the ideas of the developing
countries. Consumption leads an economy to grow. Consumption-orientation is
possible only when incomes grow in real terms at lower levels and all over the
country. Hope Hillary will rise to the occasion.
Mrs Clinton has
a lot of personal baggage to clear as well including a probable perjury
allegation among others that could become the prominent theme in the contest as
the fight now starts. Free thinking people will have some reluctance against a
dynasty tendency in the democracy as well. There is much to watch in the ensuing
months.
As far as India
is concerned,
Ms. Clinton’s inclusive way of handling
Indo-Pakistan relationship is remembered by all Indians. For India, Ms. Hillary
Clinton is an old friend, she would pick up the components of the bilateral
relationship effortlessly. The key point for Hillary Clinton to succeed is
convince people that she can be trusted. More than any previous election, this is one where the world feels
almost as much of a stakeholder as the American people.

Bade Farishte Ji
(BFG)
The BFG is a 2016 American fantasy adventure film
directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, written by Melissa Mathison and
based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film stars Mark Rylance,
Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall and
Bill Hader. In the film, an orphan human girl befriends a benevolent giant,
dubbed the "Big Friendly Giant", who takes her to Giant Country,
where they attempt to stop man-eating giants that are invading the human world.
The BFG tells the imaginative story of a young girl
and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and
nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with
enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps
to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and
Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at
least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers
Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a
precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the
mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize
that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a
giant before, has many questions. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where
he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic
and mystery of dreams. Having both been on their own in the world up until now,
their affection for one another quickly grows, but Sophie’s presence in Giant
Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have
become increasingly more bothersome. Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London
to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant
situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca
Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get
rid of the giants once and for all.
Bad Moms
Bad Moms is a 2016 American comedy film directed and
written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. The film stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell,
Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo, Jay Hernandez, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina
Applegate.
Amy Mitchell has a seemingly perfect life – a great
marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However, she's
over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she's about to
snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to
liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild binge
of long-overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence – putting them on a collision
course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.
Ghost Busters
Ghostbusters is a 2016 American supernatural comedy
film directed by Paul Feig and written by Feig and Katie Dippold. The third
feature film in the Ghostbusters series, it stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen
Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as four women who start a ghost-catching
business in New York City. The film also stars Neil Casey, Cecily Strong, Andy
GarcĂa, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh and Chris Hemsworth.
Thirty years after the original film took the world
by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation.
Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the
original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the
funniest actors working today.
Murder Madhuri
Murder Madhuri has Ali Mohamed Oosman as Producer-Director
and Distributor is Ayub Khan of E4U Enterprises with the cast of the film like
Deepshikha Nagpal, Sharad Saxena, Sonali Joshi, Ali Mohamed Oosman and Ayub
Khan. The film is based on Delhi bus rape and murder case.
Narrating the gruesome tale of Nirbhaya - the Delhi
braveheart - who was raped in 2012 (and later succumbed to her injuries), the
film takes us through the aftermath of the incident. Recounting the horrific
incidents of the Delhi rape case is enough to run chills down your spine. It is
shocking, almost offensive, that a film that is meant to salute the spirit of
Nirbhaya trivializes her story.

Birds and
snakes feel vulnerable during monsoon
By Dinesh
Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Like every year, there were
problems that occurred during rainy season. One of the most prominent incident
are falling of trees. The activists are worried about such incident only because
falling of trees resulted in death or injury of birds which had built their
nests on those fallen trees. These animal activists have sought the cooperation
of Navi Mumbai residents to save such birds.
This time, in Navi Mumbai, there has been quite many
cases of trees having fallen during heavy rains. There were activists and also
city residents who had found birds who were residing on the trees having been
in distress.
The activists of the city have managed to rescue
quite many such birds in distress. In addition they have appealed to the city
residents through facebook, Whatsapp and with other online methods to cooperate
with them in saving the birds.
These activists feel pity for those birds who find
themselves homeless after they lose their nests which they had made on the
fallen trees. Not only these activists, but also other social organizations,
other city residents, and fire brigade officials are engaging themselves in the
task of rescuing birds in distress.
Besides falling trees which affect the birds, the
other creature which finds itself vulnerable during rainy season is snake. These
snakes could be small or long. Some snakes are poisonous. The animal activists
have also been making desperate attempts to save the snakes. When the rain
falls, these snakes tend to take shelter in the residences. When they get
trapped somewhere or in danger of being killed by some city residents, the
activists play their roles of rescuing them. These snakes are of various types
and different lengths and colours.
There are many city residents who panic when they
spot the snake and they try to kill it. Such incidents are common particularly
during rainy season when the snakes tend to take shelter in residences owing to
wet condition outside. They even lay eggs in these homes. These snakes are also
seen in market areas where they lie in wait for rats upon which they prey.
The animal activists are trying to create among the
residents awareness about how the snakes should be treated when spotted. These
activists have created helplines for those who want them to tackle the snakes.
During the rains this time, these activists received many calls for help from
the residents who spotted snakes.
The activists do face tough time in dealing with the
snakes but they yet rescue these creatures somehow or the other. Such is their
passion for safety of animals. These activists not only deal with snakes, but
also reptiles, scorpions and other creatures who are found inside or near the
residences during rainy season. These creatures tend to take shelter in dry
homes to escape from rain.
The activists keep on appealing to the city residents
not to kill or play with such creatures. They also tell them to be careful
since some such creatures are poisonous. They train people in matter of how to
deal with such creatures when spotted. They also caution them to keep distance
from such creatures since they can be harmful. The activists when informed about
these creature rush to the spot where they are lying and place them in safe
places or zoos. These city activists treat even animals like humans. Such is
their passion.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Tax non-essential food items' that was published in Newsband
Tax
non-essential food items
Levying
additional taxes on non-essential food items that are rich in fat or calories
can effectively alter food choices. There will be dip in consumption levels in
foodstuff. Sugar-sweetened drinks will drop in intake. Such foods are also sold
by branded restaurants and consumed by the higher middle and upper classes.
If our
government is serious about reining in consumption of unhealthy food, then
there are several measures it should quickly adopt. The first is to set a
threshold limit for fat and/or calorie and tax all foods items that are above
this limit. Bringing sugar-sweetened drinks and refined products under the
taxable product list should be a priority. There is no reason why packaged food
items that have high salt content should not be additionally taxed. Similarly, a very high rate of tax should be charged on food items that
contain trans fats. Trans fatty acids pose
serious coronary risks.
The food being
sold in India market should be regulated and approved by competent authorities;
be it a local shops or MNCs. Let us control health and safety concerns at the
very beginning itself. Periodic testing and penalties will improve the quality
significantly. Why should customers suffer by paying more for junk food? We
should also tax non-vegetarian food to reduce global warming, which is a far
greater threat than obese people.
Places like
MacDonalds are heavily taxed already. The Government has no love for citizens,
as there is lot of street food which is not healthy, which is not taxed. They
are doing it only to make money. Agreed that there
are popular food courts which are producing "food" items not
conducive for promotion of good health. Some of them contain items which are
not good for health, others are found to be producing items with high salt or
sugar content. An international company producing noodles is using maida which
is decidedly not good for health but this company puts up claims that its
products are "good" for health and also puts wrong information on its
packages that it contains wheat flour while it uses actually refined wheat
flour which is nothing but maida.
Taxing energy
rich fast food is a good idea. Slashing price for healthy supplement will not
drag feet from pizza or burger corners. But merely taxing fat rich food is not
the solution. Tax subsidies should be given to healthy foods like protein
supplements, Soya products etc which will give positive push to the people to
change their food habits.
All food items
which do not conform to the World Health Organisation standards and specially
those applicable to Indians should be heavily taxed. There is no reason why the
Cola giants should be encouraged to go ahead with products which are proven to
be health hazards especially for the youth of the country.

Yogee with star cast consisting of Shaleen Bhanot, Ashutosh Kaushik, Puja
Banerjee, Shamiksha Bhatnagar, Rishank Tiwari, and Ritika Gulati. The film is

The film Love Ke Funday is a romantic love story. The
story of the film is of different youth couples who get indulged in different
issues but not the usual ones seen in our day to day lives. The suspense will
be seen mounting as the film released and goes beyond the interval. This story
is about today's youth's point of view and relationship status just like the
Face book and Whatsapp status. They change the status when the mood changes.
Love is just a game that they understand and want to play it in every way. And
they have the same Funday and love ends up on bed. But they forget what will
happen when they really fall in love. They forget about the climax of that love
game, what will happen when love will play with them. Aryan is a Casanova who doesn’t
believe in love. He has one universal triple F formula that he uses in his
life. One Soni meets Aryan accidently since she is trying to find true love in
this fake world of today. She is literally impressed by him and accepts him as
her love guru and slowly begins to love him. But Love as a word in Aryan's
dictionary does not exist. Similarly there are love affairs involving Sandy, Annu,
Manan, Nikhil, Riya, Jassi and so on. Finally it's all about that who reaches
their true love and whose relationship takes a new turn.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'PM’s diplomatic visit to Africa' that was published in Newsband
PM’s diplomatic
visit to Africa
Prime Minister
Narendra Modi drew a link between Indian and South African cultures during his
four-nation visit to Africa. He spoke
about the historical links between India and African nations with a unique
warmth. He outlined his focus areas:
energy, food and maritime security. He
stopped at Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya.
India has been
slow to upgrade ties with Africa and we have to be careful of China’s
formidable presence in the continent. China’s current hold in trade and
investment in Africa is three times India’s, and South Africa, for instance,
has a key role in promoting the Maritime Silk Route programme as part of the
One Belt One Road initiative. China may be bigger in Africa but India is
senior. The cultural links and presence of India is stronger. It is time it
should be leveraged. Private players can do it best with a little help from
Indian government.
Africa is a
continent of 54 countries, and each has diverse reasons to improve ties with
India — from sharing low-cost technologies and pharmaceuticals, building on the
Solar Alliance and renewable energies, growing markets for each other’s goods
and trade connectivity.
Modi’s critics
say that he was diplomatic enough to avoid mentioning his concern over racism
in India that students and others from Africa often face. But one way Modi was right. You do not wash your dirty laundry in
public. But you wear your best clothes when you are being watched. The same
goes for the content of the speech. The racial matters would be discussed with
the leaders of the African states. Besides, the speech was for Indian diaspora
in Africa. What is the relevance of bringing racial matters in India against
Africans at that event? It is best to deal with it internally and not give it
undue attention in Africa, lest it becomes a talking point there and put
Indians there at risk.
It can be a
part of the address of the PM when African dignitaries are being hosted in
India so that it reaches the Indian people and the African leaders. That is the
right audience for it. Nothing will be achieved by giving it the spotlight in
Africa.
In addition to
racism, the major issue between India and South African nations is the crimes
being committed by the people from those countries who come into India for
studies or business and get involved in drug trafficking and Internet fraud of
bogus lottery and other crimes. By overstaying beyond Visa period they are
causing big loss to innocent people from South India and being headache to
police.
Thus Prime
Minister’s visit to African countries is highly diplomatic during which he
emphasised the trade connectivity with African nations and the assurance for
eliminating racism.

Juno's 2.8
billion km voyage has once again signalled the triumph of modern science &
technology. This successful flight also underscores a basic philosophy for
human existence: that scientific method is the most fruitful way of opening up
& verifying new horizons of reality. And through this increasing knowledge
of our cosmic surroundings comes a new, humble self-awareness: our precarious,
contingent existence on this planet
Congratulations
to the scientists, astronomers, and even the ordinary people who toiled to
prepare the spacecraft and others administrative and lower rung workers without
whom such mission would have not been possible.
Juno is
currently the most exciting and forward level Space exploration ever, since the
NASA embarked on their first First Ten Year timed Mission of "Landing Man
on the Moon" that began in 1961, announced by the then President John F. Kennedy.
While these are important attempts to learn and earn natural phenomena that
occurred at the level of the Universe, and costs trillions of dollars and
material resources from the earth getting used up, there are many mundane
problems of earth, such as Poverty, Ethnic Fights/Terror problems and Global

This is indeed
a stunning achievement by NASA. We look forward to the day when ISRO too sends

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Disabled persons should get proper justice' that was published in Newsband
Disabled
persons should get proper justice
The government should
correctly deal with the rights of persons with disabilities and seek to provide
them equal opportunities. The implementation of measures
conferring rights on the people with disabilities is still far from adequate.
This is in spite of statutory reservation in jobs and other measures formulated
with great care.
The court directed that vacancies among posts identified for the disabled must be
filled through reservation, regardless of the mode of recruitment — be it
promotion or direct recruitment. The ruling has significantly enhanced the
scope for the disabled to gain employment in the higher echelons.
Before making
laws or implementing them what is more necessary is to bring social awareness
among the public in India. It is disheartening that some TV shows and movie
show no respect for disability. Instead it a source of humour for them. Most
people think that other person's disability is not their concern.
Society and
governments have undermined 'disabled' persons' ability to cope up with high
profile jobs. While it is true that 'differently' abled persons need extra
support to accomplish complicated tasks, the notion that their ability to
complete effectively is unfounded. If the government is sincere in recruitment
of disabled persons, they can as well appoint assistants to help in reading and
writing. This would even reduce unemployment to some extent.
But then, in a
country where normal and even people with higher brain-power do not seem to get
appropriate attention and Constitutional rights empowerment in full, what can
we expect for the unfortunate disabled, other than some step motherly
treatments. This is no way to support those who have various disabilities, and
who also have Equal Rights to live and enjoy the benefits of our GDP
A normal person
has no understanding of the pains and traumas of the disabled. To some extent,
he/she will understand it if any of his family member is a disabled person. If
there is an able person in the lower ranks, why should he not be promoted? The
disabled do not require sympathy. Give them what is due to them under the laws
of the land. They need to be treated on par with others and they do not need sympathy.
It is
unfortunate that the laws pertaining to disabled peoples' right is implemented
in a biased mode. The government's indifferent attitude towards materialising
the rights of the disabled in jobs is to be censured since they suffer in spite
of apt law being put into force. We must change our mindset about disabled and
bring them up on equal platform.

Great

Great Grand Masti is a Bollywood adult spooky comedy
film directed by Indra Kumar. It is the third instalment in the Masti film

Thus the plot of the film remains the same; however,
the lady at the centre is changed and replaced by a virgin ghost. All the three
men are still seen with the same kind of disorder having the deep thirst for
their carnal desire. So, while trying to quench the thirst, they are seen
trying for the same virgin ghost and they bring home the seductress back on
track. So, the movie is all about what happens when the trio becomes the victim
of a virgin ghost. The movie revolves around how the trio find out that Ragini
is not the hot girl she appears to be at first.

The Film covers a Metro city and a beautiful village
in Gujarat. Romeo & Radhika’s story is about four friends with their unique
idea to represent today’s fast and fun loving generation. Romeo (Tushar Sadhu)
and Radhika (Vidhi Parikh) are best of Colleagues but definitely not sure whether
they really like each other. In addition, a couple of Characters are included
to create excitement and spice for the story. The sheer simplicity of their

Laughter, Love, friendship is likely to make a tremendous Change in this World.

Dinesh Kamath's news 'City witnessed good rain during the last few days' that was published in Newsband
City witnessed
good rain during the last few days
By Dinesh
Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: It is good to see water
levels in all dams that supply drinking water to Navi Mumbai having gone up
because of heavy rainfall during the last few days. The levels of Barvi dam,
Morbe dam, Ransai dam and Hetawane dam have improved substantially owing to
heavy rains which have obviously pushed the dam's level up.
The weekend downpour brought cheer to most city dams
but also a host of monsoon hurdles. The craters made some places quite
dangerous and fatal mishaps could not be ruled out. There were bikers who met
with minor or major accidents. There were a host of monsoon hurdles. For
example, troubled residents faced waterlogging and braved pothole-riddled
stretches that slowed down vehicular movement on arterial and internal roads.
Some roads got further damaged by the incessant rain, which caused craters
along the asphalt stretches. The motorcyclists were finding it difficult to
gauge the depth of the craters.
The city witnessed waterlogging in several areas. Subways
were flooded and motorists continued to have a bumpy ride. The motorists’
plight is being ignored by authorities who are yet to fix the potholes on the
busy stretches. There were trees that got uprooted and some ground-floor houses
damaged in the city owing to rain. Tree falling in certain areas made the
contingency teams of NMMC and Cidco swing into action on time. Waterlogging and
potholes in the developing Cidco nodes invited criticisms from the city
residents who had a tough time during the rains.
The monsoon also set off water borne diseases and the
city doctors were busy advising the residents about precautions that they
should take under such situations. The residents were asked to steer clear of
outside food and water and ensure that the water they drank was filtered. They
were asked to avoid contaminated water and drink clean, boiled and filtered
water.
The rain certainly proved to be a respite from the
heat. The water collected was far from
clean and healthy. Children were given vaccination to ensure safety from the
virus.
Commuters of NMMT buses had to face tough time during
the rain since there were some buses which had leaking roofs and panels. The
commuters had to sit with opened umbrellas while travelling in NMMT buses. On
receiving the complaints from bus commuters, the NMMT officials did get into
action by starting to check the condition of all their buses. They are now
checking the buses before they leave from the depots. The commuters have been
asked to note down the number of the leaking buses. It was decided that the
leaking buses would not ply till they were repaired completely.
Heavy rain has resulted in filling the dams in Navi
Mumbai to a considerable level and this will make possible proper supply of
water to all the city residents for many months. As compared to last year at the same time,
this year the city has received better rainfall. This year, city areas under
NMMC received more rainfall in the last week of the month, a reversal in trend
compared to 2015. The best thing is that new norms have been set by civic
commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for daily supplies soon after he joined office. The
downpour has helped in ground water recharge too. The good city rain has come
as a relief and there is much more greenery visible all around.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Modi succeeds in minimizing corruption' that was published in Newsband
Modi succeeds
in minimizing corruption
Prime Minister
Narendra Modi has completely remodelled his Council of Ministers. Modi has clearly traded the promise of a lean Ministry in the “minimum
government, maximum governance”. The emphasis on bringing in more Ministers is
to give an edge to the Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat Assembly election
campaigns in the months ahead, and careful arithmetic in inducting Dalit, OBC
and tribal leaders is evident.
This has been a
highly controlled exercise, one that will consolidate Modi’s grip on power, a
prospect that will worry his political rivals as well as some within his own
party. After two full years at the helm, it should have been Modi's achievements
that should have acted as winners for BJP in the upcoming state elections.
Instead, he seems to be banking on individual inductees in his cabinet to
attract certain bloc of voters rather than impressing the nation with his
performance. India has a majority government after a long hiatus, and its
benefits must not be squandered away by failing to deliver on the election
promises, especially that of "Achhe Din”
Dr Manmohan Singh’s
cabinet, trying to keep the coalition partners in line, consisted of 32 cabinet
ministers; 12 ministers of state with independent charge; and, 33 ministers of
state making a total of 77. Modi, on the other hand, is enjoying a clear
majority of seats in the Lok Sabha (denied to Dr Manmohan Singh), and has a
cabinet of 28 cabinet ministers; 12 ministers of state with independent charge;
and, 38 ministers of state, totalling 78.
Modi also
promised he would regularly monitor the functioning of the ministers and there
was supposed to be a time-bound programme to fulfill the commitments of BJP/RSS
Combine to the voters.
Modi is doing
the right thing by keeping his Ministers in check to accept only performance
and zero-corrupt which he can afford as leader of majority. Media and
opposition parties that are used to cacophony in
UPA government are not able to face the reality that oft-repeated slogans of
secularism and inclusivity are being forgotten by public much to their chagrin.
Rahul has gone into hiding and his mother is in the business of defending her
son-in-law and both forgot the issues of public interest. Their party has packed the Rajya Sabha with
lawyers of obstructionist tactics for any legislative business like GST and
other economic reforms. Congress should remember that people are watching their
desperation of losing power so badly.
Modi's firm
control over his cabinet essentially eliminated corruption. That is one thing
he promised and seems to be fulfilling the promise. A refreshing change from
daily broadcast of corruption charges during Congress rule.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Battle against growing tide of waste' that was published in Newsband
Battle against
growing tide of waste
The Ministry of
Environment and Forests is fighting a battle against the growing tide of
municipal waste. A small effort at segregating
trash at source would be a good thing for household budgets of the citizens.
Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar
says that the estimated 62 million tonnes of waste a year is not fully
collected or treated. It will go up
to some 165 million tonnes in 2030.
Even where
environmentally conscious citizens segregate at source, the chain of management
dumps it all in landfills. The local bodies should not
continue functioning in business-as-usual mode. Municipalities should focus
principally on creating reliable systems to handle different waste streams.
If India could start with the separation
of its ‘wet’ waste from the rest and produce good compost that could transform
cities and towns into clean and green havens filled with trees, gardens, lakes
and rivers. It would also salvage millions of tonnes of recyclable plastic, precious
metals and other materials.
Preparation
should commence at the base, the source of the waste. Households need guidance
in the first instance to separate their garbage in a ready to transport and
ready to use categories. Guidance should be followed by monitoring to ensure
whether they are adhering to instructions. Third step of course should be by
implementing punitive measures.
Waste has
become a problem mainly in metro cities where huge amount of garbage pile up
and for want of proper mechanism for disposal, is littered literally from
roadside to compound walls in residential areas. There should be environmental
cleaning done as well as arrest of spread of disease due to polluted air and
stench emanating from the spread of waste material for days
The segregation
of waste at the point of origin and Composting and methanation of solid waste
is a visionary move to bring a pragmatic solution for mounting garbages. Especially
the waste generated by restaurants to be treated by themselves with Composting is
a fine rule which could generate some revenue.
Public think
that they pay tax and government has the responsibility to treat the waste. But
the new rule brings inclusive management of waste with the involvement of the
stake holders. The feasible state central coordination in implementation of new
waste management rules must be high irrespective of the parties in power.
The most
important action would be for the corporations to provide storage bins to hold
recyclables, bio waste and garbage for land fill separately. The bins must be
clearly marked. Perhaps the corporation officials should study the procedures
in advanced nations like Germany, Canada etc.
