Birds and snakes feel vulnerable during monsoon
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: Like every year, there were problems that occurred during rainy season. One of the most prominent incident are falling of trees. The activists are worried about such incident only because falling of trees resulted in death or injury of birds which had built their nests on those fallen trees. These animal activists have sought the cooperation of Navi Mumbai residents to save such birds.
This time, in Navi Mumbai, there has been quite many cases of trees having fallen during heavy rains. There were activists and also city residents who had found birds who were residing on the trees having been in distress.
The activists of the city have managed to rescue quite many such birds in distress. In addition they have appealed to the city residents through facebook, Whatsapp and with other online methods to cooperate with them in saving the birds.
These activists feel pity for those birds who find themselves homeless after they lose their nests which they had made on the fallen trees. Not only these activists, but also other social organizations, other city residents, and fire brigade officials are engaging themselves in the task of rescuing birds in distress.
Besides falling trees which affect the birds, the other creature which finds itself vulnerable during rainy season is snake. These snakes could be small or long. Some snakes are poisonous. The animal activists have also been making desperate attempts to save the snakes. When the rain falls, these snakes tend to take shelter in the residences. When they get trapped somewhere or in danger of being killed by some city residents, the activists play their roles of rescuing them. These snakes are of various types and different lengths and colours.
There are many city residents who panic when they spot the snake and they try to kill it. Such incidents are common particularly during rainy season when the snakes tend to take shelter in residences owing to wet condition outside. They even lay eggs in these homes. These snakes are also seen in market areas where they lie in wait for rats upon which they prey.
The animal activists are trying to create among the residents awareness about how the snakes should be treated when spotted. These activists have created helplines for those who want them to tackle the snakes. During the rains this time, these activists received many calls for help from the residents who spotted snakes.
The activists do face tough time in dealing with the snakes but they yet rescue these creatures somehow or the other. Such is their passion for safety of animals. These activists not only deal with snakes, but also reptiles, scorpions and other creatures who are found inside or near the residences during rainy season. These creatures tend to take shelter in dry homes to escape from rain.

The activists keep on appealing to the city residents not to kill or play with such creatures. They also tell them to be careful since some such creatures are poisonous. They train people in matter of how to deal with such creatures when spotted. They also caution them to keep distance from such creatures since they can be harmful. The activists when informed about these creature rush to the spot where they are lying and place them in safe places or zoos. These city activists treat even animals like humans. Such is their passion.
