Virat Kohli’s men prove their superiority
In their World Cup clash against Pakistan, Virat Kohli’s men proved they
are far too superior with an 89-run triumph.
Cricket matches played against India by Pakistan teams were not taken sportingly
by Pak government and its board or players since decades. They were aggressive
as if they were fighting against India in wars and some of their players lacked
discipline and good behavior. Anyway, congrats to lndian team for their good
team work in outplaying Pak.
After a gap of years, we have enjoyed the great play of Indian cricketers
in defeating Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistani cricketers valiantly
defended with an all-round flawless performance.
Yet too much should not be made of it. It is only a game. You win some
and you lose some. It is not the end of the world if you lose, though some fans
act as if it is. Again it shows, though batsmen get most of the glamour, it is
bowlers who win matches. Pakistan has to improve its fielding to become a serious
contender.
The bowlers and batsmen on both the sides were prevented from demonstrate
their full potential to decisively become the winner or loser due to the
outdated D-L Method. When we have accurate weather forecasts for 10 days at a
stretch, this formula is absurd and deserves to be scrapped by evolving
alternative methods and changing the archaic rules of ICC. Are the organizers
going to refund the proportionate amount of tickets to the people who paid for
tickets over the loss of missing a natural and thrilling finish?
A great deal of efforts by the players has been allowed to get washed
out. Indians may be satisfied over this ‘win’ due to the outdated D-LM. But a
true lover of cricket cannot help feel disappointed over the abortion of a
certainly thrilling win for either side after the bowlers and batsmen
demonstrated their hard earned talents to the delight of the spectators. It’s
time ICC bade good bye to DLF by changing the rules to provide for carry
forward of the match that has to be stopped due to rains. Holding impaired
matches in an era when we can have weather forecasts as accurately as possible
for at least seven days in a row is sheer nonsense and making money from
enthusiastic spectators in the stadium is cheating of the worst type.
