NAVI MUMBAI: CIDCO’s chairman Pramod Hindurao called a press conference to discuss the matter relating to ‘Patrakar Bhavan’ for Navi Mumbai journalists.
Hindurao said, “In the last meeting of Board of Directors we had discussed the issue relating to Patrakar Bhavan in a most positive manner. I called this conference to get hold of the views of prominent journalists of Navi Mumbai in the matter relating to the same issue so that I could put forward all their views in the meeting of Board of Directors that will take place on 12 October 2012.”
During the earlier meetings Hindurao had expressed his view about having the Bhavan constructed at Vashi or Nerul. Majority of the journalists in the conference preferred to have the Bhavan in Vashi. Some journalists belonging to Panvel and Uran did express their wish of having the Bhavan located at a place which would be convenient for them.
Hindurao said that he would like the Bhavan to have various facilities like an auditorium, recreational room, meditation center etc. He said that some things would have to be worked out like whether CIDCO should construct the Bhavan or whether the plot for Bhavan should be transferred to the NMMC. He promised that all the views expressed by the journalists during the conference will be put forward during the meeting of Board of Directors after which a decision that will please all might be taken. Hindurao certainly appeared very positive about the issue and he looked like a man who meant business. In other words, he was not beating around the bush.
When the journalists raised the issue of quarters for Navi Mumbai journalists, Hindurao said that orders to build houses for journalists should come from the State Government. However, Hindurao promised to discuss the matter with former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and if necessary with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan too. He also asked his personal assistant to arrange a meeting with pressmen on Navratri Day to discuss the issue relating to ‘Houses for Navi Mumbai journalists’.
