PANVEL: Vidhyadhiraj Charitable Trust organised a mega event on Saturday December 12 at Rama Krishnaa Academy and Sewashram in Harigram, Panvel. Shri Sukthankar inaugurated the Science laboratory at Rama Krishnaa Academy and the children presented a science exhibition on the occasion. The exhibits were created by the children themselves. Various scientific inventions and discoveries were displayed. The children enthusiastically explained the working of the projects to the visitors. The Academy is the only English medium school in the area. Around 300 children from seven surrounding villages attend the school.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Sukthankar who has been associated with the Trust since its inception, said that the school had a very good future as efforts were being taken to ensure the progress. Eminent Advocate M V Kini inaugurated Kidzone, the beautifully decorated hall for the preKG children. The Trustees, teachers and eminent personalities attended the programme. Head Teacher Smt Harshalata Chimankar conducted the proceedings.
This was followed by Bhajan Sandhya by Kumari Amritha Shenoy of Pune. She started giving performances at a young age and though there is no other family member who is so talented and interested in music, Amritha’s talent surfaced at the age of six. Learning music under several eminent teachers, Amritha is a very humble and unassuming person. Her powerful voice and her beautiful alaaps rang in the cool evening. The five hundred strong audience sat in pin drop silence broken only by the reverberating thunder of claps after every rendition expressing the song of the singer. ‘Padmanabha Narayana’, ‘Bhagyada Laxmi baramma’ called for encores.

‘A very satisfying programme,’ said Raghuram Kamath, the organizer of the programme.
